  2. Sisters Peaks refers to the Three Sisters mountains in what we refer to as Central Oregon. Depending on the location it is 2 to 3 hours from Eugene. Remember that there will have been fishing pressure all summer on trout. I still recommend Chinook salmon fishing at the mouth of the Umpqua river on the coast. (Less than a two hour drive from Eugene). The fall run of chinook has consistently yielded fish in the 20 to +40 lbs range. Winchester Bay Is the harbor town for the Umpqua river. Contacting a fishing guide service vs. “Charter boat” is recommended. You want to fish from a smaller boat, not in a large group, and use a much lighter pole and reel than what they provide on larger charter boats. Which is more fun and challenging. Generally, that time of year you are fishing less than 1/4 of a mile from the mouth of the river in the ocean. Therefore, a larger charter boat is certainly not necessary , and cumbersome to maneuver amongst other boats. I grew up in that area and my family kept a 26’ boat docked at Winchester Bay for years. I have literally caught hundreds of salmon in and around that area. Not recommending this guide (I have not fished with him). But, he has nice equipment, which usually means he has been a successful guide…lol Pacific Ocean Fishing - Casey's Guide Service, LLC CASEYSGUIDESERVICE.COM The bottom fishing adventures are out of Winchester Bay and Charleston, Oregon. We only go out on the days that the ocean is calm. The fishing is typically very good and there is a large...
  3. I think yes is the correct answer. We have a veteran OL, and solid QBs. QB1 will have available to him some of the best receivers we have had for quite some time, and the RBs should have a very good season. The only thing stopping this offense is themselves, and maybe Georgia…
  4. The entire coaching staff has been on campus for less than 6 months, and haven’t coached a game yet. They finished very strong with 2022 recruiting (that could have been a disaster) and also kept some talented players from transferring out of our program. I think our coaching staff is going to bring in several highly ranked recruits for 2023. This staff is young and energetic, and I believe that they will work their tails off to deliver the goods.
  5. Compelling thoughts on Big 12 teams. TV revenue definitely drives the bus. Any expansion needs to be a win/win situation for all involved. However, I would have a team of analysts work through the numbers and look at best/worst case scenarios to see who and what could make sense. Last thing needed is a diluted pool of revenue that generates less money for everyone involved.
  6. The purple mutts fans always predict that their team is much better than the actual team that takes the field. The insults they toss at the Ducks are not going to change the outcome of their teams debacle of a season from last year. I think that DeBoer is a solid coach. However, recruiting is still going to determine his teams long term success. Time will tell if he can recruit at the level necessary to be relevant in the PAC12. If DeBoer is unable to recruit at higher levels, then the pups definitely will be just like Cal.
  7. Would love to see us snag a few more big boy OL recruits. From there, anything becomes possible.
  8. The puppies can lay claim to having the second best football team in the state of Washington. That has to count for something.
  9. That is probably the Hamilton Walton rebuild over by Hayward field.
  10. I really don’t follow softball. I would assume this is for her defensive playing abilities.
  11. Track Town USA. Build it and they will come sounds good. However, recruiting T & F athletes requires more than a tour of the facilities. Don’t know any of the back story on this, but I have to agree that hiring a new coach should not be a huge issue. It would be great if Oregon once again reclaimed the distance races. Kind of put us on the map. Winning National titles require top notch athletes in more than a few events. This will be interesting to see how this plays out. I hope there won’t be a bunch of immediate transfers out of the program.
  12. Lanning and his staff are warming up with this recruiting class. With the players that have already committed, adding a 5* QB, and a 5* RB may set Eugene on fire.
  13. The recruiting shift is noticeable. This coaching staff is brand new and have many top recruits coming in for visits. I guarantee there is hours of work that goes into getting these guys on campus. It would have been easy to write off last years recruiting class and perhaps this year because of an unproven head coach with a new staff. These guys hit the ground running and are doing a great job. They deserve recognition for their work. Lanning and his staff are impressing me, and starting to make some other PAC 12 coaches and fans nervous about having to compete for recruits with Oregon.
  14. Crazy geographic changes in the PAC 12, especially for football. One week you can be playing in tee shirt and shorts weather, and the next you could be playing at high altitude in a snow storm. Always fun to have one of the sunshine teams show up at Autzen for a game in a nice afternoon, or evening rain storm. Yes…almost anything can happen.
  15. Trying to generate more revenue for the conference will probably rely on football broadcasting rights. An agreement for crossover games with another conference where broadcasting rights are sold as a package seems like a viable option. While athletic budgets continue to escalate, some Universities may question their ability and sanity of trying to compete in many sports. I think many of the problems that are faced by athletic departments are complex and are just not easily solved.
  16. Unfortunate. It is nice that we do not need to scroll through pages and pages of insults and attacks. Thanks to all that invest their time to moderate this forum. However, if there is ever an amnesty day, I think I have a few “colorful metaphors” in my back pocket to help describe those PAC 12 teams that wear purple, or orange.
  17. Barring injuries we will have a very good defense. We really got hit hard with injuries last year at the linebacker positions. Give our defense a little time to get used to the new defensive scheme and I think they get much better. I look forward to see what Lanning and Company can do with our defensive roster.
  18. I think we have guys that will give most PAC 12 teams problems. It will be interesting to see who we land on as our feature back this year. The nice thing is that we have good depth and looks like we can easily have three backs rotating into a game if necessary.
  19. First game out for Lanning is the defending National Champions. Ironic that it is Georgia. It would be beyond my expectations that Oregon beats them. Our QB and OL play will definitely dictate whether the Ducks have the ability to beat these guys. Offensively, the Ducks are solid. However, not one player on offense really stands out right now for Oregon. Collectively, they will all need to play solid football. Defensively, I expect good things. However, with a new defensive scheme I expect some growth pains against a team the caliber of Georgia. Are they good enough to beat Georgia in Atlanta? It certainly is not expected based upon the spread. However, we do have a good team with talented players that have nothing to lose. Georgia will be tough, but Oregon will also be a dangerous team for them to play.
  20. How fun would it be to watch Nix finally beat Georgia? It would be ironic if Ashford becomes Auburns starting QB.
  21. There is that company that had sales of around $45 billion last year that seems to like the Ducks.
  22. Superman was impressive.
