  1. The flaw in his assessment is that he thinks Oregon is going to treat Tech’s defense the same as they treated JMU’s. He also thinks the comeback by JMU was something other than Oregon losing focus. That won’t happen against a team as good as Tech. In the same vein, Duck fans would be wrong to think BYU’s bowl game is any indication of their talent. Thus, thinking Tech beat up on a bad team in the Big 12 championship. BYU is good and they only needed a quarter to get their act together and carve out a win. Both teams are playing well out of their conference footprint on a grass field. It’s an evenly matched game and could come down to special teams.
  2. The game before this I saw them beat Arizona at home wearing gray pants. I believe it was Thanksgiving weekend 2010.
  3. BYU is clearly the more talented team. If it was a meaningful game with all starters playing I think they would’ve won by 3 scores.
  4. He won’t mind. He probably agrees with you.
  5. Hopefully, he got his degree.
  6. That could be the case. However, it could also be that Brock makes better decisions in practice. Sometimes QB’s with the stronger arms and the most athleticism give up more turnovers by trying to force things. My theory is that Austin knows that Dante is coming back for another season. It’s not unheard of. This is a guy who chose to transfer and then sit behind a veteran for a season to become a better QB.
  7. That was bad football. Both teams made stupid mistakes over and over. The final possession by GT was the textbook definition of point shaving. It goes to show that anything other than making the final 12 is just an exhibition.
  8. Clemson fans are less than pleased.
  9. Yep. I don’t blame Allen and Singleton one bit for opting out of this game. Playing football on baseball fields is a recipe for injuries due to the quality of the playing surface. I’m surprised the Ducks and the Tarheels made it out of the 2022 Holiday Bowl without a couple of significant injuries.
  10. Ute fans aren’t taking this well.
  11. This gal made some hare-brained comments about Oregon and the B1G this season, but she usually doesn’t report breaking news unless it’s true.
  12. Merry Christmas! May at least one of your gifts be green and yellow.
  13. At least this isn’t the national championship game. Gray pants and white jerseys really haven’t worked out in those games.
  14. Every team is fighting for their survival at this point of the season. They have nothing to lose, so expect the unexpected. This is why we saw a fake punt and the Annexation of Puerto Rico play from JMU.
  15. It’s nice to be a finalist, but the Indiana game kind of sealed the Duck OL’s fate. Granted, many of those sacks were on the QB, but the stat line still stands out. Kudos to Iowa. They played the top teams very close this season.
  16. Oregon had a little over 9 minutes time of possession in the first half. The defense was out on the field for over 20 minutes. Oregon’s defenses in the CK era were conditioned for that kind of load. I don’t think these guys counted on the offense scoring so quickly.
  17. This was a Chip Kelly game. Blow their doors off in the first half and then fart around in the second half. Sometimes Oregon would start slow and then blow their doors off in the second half. It was very seldom that Chip’s (and Helf’s) teams put together a solid 4-quarter performance. I still remember Aliotti getting mad at Mike Leach for not rolling over in the second half of the 2013 game.
  18. It used to be that if you could recruit Florida, Texas and California really well then you were going to have an excellent program. I think the same rule applies today, but I would add Georgia, Louisiana and Alabama to that mix. This is why the southern teams have dominated for so long. Ohio State and Oregon each have 25 players on their roster from the SEC footprint. OSU has always recruited the South pretty well due to their brand. Oregon has come along lately due to NIL and their rising stock as a CFB brand. If throwing money at players is all it takes to win then the Texas schools would dominate. Much of Oregon’s success with NIL comes from helping players manage their brand. The wild card in all this is Cignetti. If he keeps winning with 3-stars and portal players I would expect a few NFL teams to make a run at him. His ability to evaluate and develop talent is perfect for the salary cap environment.
  19. Ed O confirming your theory. Of course, he also spent a few years at USC as well.
