  1. I had the same feeling which is why I predicted an Indiana victory in the prediction contest. Too much talk about the winning streak at Autzen and Indiana’s losing against top ten teams. This is a team with very few returning starters who just came off an emotionally taxing win in Pennsylvania. The difficulty they experienced on Saturday didn’t surprise me. It somewhat reminded me of Oregon’s response to beating a highly ranked Michigan State team in 2014. They barely beat a bad WSU team the next week in Pullman and lost to Arizona at home two weeks later after a bye. That team responded and never lost again until the national championship game. I think we have the coaching staff to help keep these players pointed in the right direction.
  2. Something tells me UCLA is going to surprise some teams. USC is one that comes to mind.
  3. I trust this coaching staff. Next week’s performance will be key. Get a solid win and they can build from there. Losing a top 10 matchup is much better now than during the playoffs.
  4. Lanning has sent more O-Linemen to the NFL than Belotti, Chip and Mario. Mario may have recruited some guys, but DL and his staff developed them.
  5. I just found out that Allar is done for the year. He took a lot of abuse from his own fan base. Now they get to see what life is like without him.
  6. We can gripe about this and that for the rest of the evening, but the simple fact is that Indiana was the better football team today. Just like we were the better football team 365 days (give or take a few hours) ago against Ohio State.
  7. I’m not worried. As crazy as it sounds, I don’t think we’ll turn into Penn State. The reason? Dan Lanning. Will he take OBD to the playoffs this season? I don’t know, but he won’t allow us to suck.
  8. I don’t like that I won, but there was too much bad karma on social media. Everybody was talking about how Indiana has never beaten a top 10 team.
  9. We’re on to Rutgers. If that’s a close game then we know what kind of team this is. It’s not a bad thing. This team is young. Just don’t turn into Penn State. They have already quit on their coach (unlike Ohio State from last season).
  10. I hope they learn from this. It best to learn now than in the first playoff game (if there is one). Just like 2014, OBD know they have to win out. Hopefully, they respond.
  11. Penn State’s defense can’t stop Northwestern. Their offense can’t move the ball effectively. They go a TD on 4th and Goal due to missed tackles. They’re not a good team and they should feel lucky to be up 14-13.
  12. Wazzu I up 7-0 on Ole Miss in the 2nd quarter. They’ll find a way to “Coug” it though.
  13. Indiana 27-24 TO’s - 0 sacks - 1 Passing Yards - 207 There is way too much talk about Oregon’s home winning streak and Indiana’s losing record vs. top ranked teams. Also, the Ducks have never beaten Indiana at Autzen Stadium.
  14. The logo on their helmet seems familiar.
  15. Here is a link to the ESPN video of the TD and review. ESPNMariota's Long TD Pass Brings The Ducks Closer - ESPN Video
  16. I look at USC the same way I look at Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire. Was the talent there? Did they get their moment in the sun? The answer is yes, but they and everybody else knows they operated outside the rules to get there. There will always be questions whether they could have had the same success without cheating. Same questions come with mythical shared championships. Was your team really the best team? Could the Fuskies have beaten Miami? Colorado/Ga.Tech? Nebraska/Penn State? We’ll never know and there will always be room for doubt because it wasn’t settled on the field.
  17. First things first. When some d-bag starts talking to me about “natty’s” I always ask what position they played in their team’s winning of their “natty”. When they mumble something incoherent as they usually do, I ask them how they contributed. I will give some level of credit to a season ticket holder or booster, but I typically despise “jock-riders” and I let them know. If it’s a USC OR fusky fan I remind them that all championships were mythical before 1998. Meaning, they were awarded based on the opinions of media voters. After 1998 they were awarded via a championship game. USC won in 2004 but it was vacated, so they only have a mythical AP championship from that year. When they try to legitimize mythical championships then I use last season as justification for Oregon’s first national championship in football since an official selector voted us number one. Remember to remind all fusky fans that they only have 2/7 of a national championship. They were one of five teams who claimed the 1960 championship and one of two teams who claimed it in 1991.
  18. It’s become so prevalent that they made a series on Hulu where it’s the basis of the whole show. Oregon has done it multiple times (Chad Powers not included). Byron Marshall did it twice in the same season. Once in the national championship game against Ohio State and once against South Dakota. Both happened on long TD’s. Luckily, he barely got across the goal line in the Ohio State game. He was skilled but not very intelligent.
  19. Same with the Pom-Pom’s (or “shakers” as the SEC folks say). The short folks are definitely at a disadvantage.
  20. The uniform combinations are actually decided in the Spring. Below is an excerpt from an ESPN article about the subject. "Once players have finalized their choices with Farr's assistance, he will lay out the scripting in a look book and show head coach Dan Lanning before the spring game for approval. Finalizing the looks well in advance of the season helps Farr organize the high volume of inventory he has to line up. Going off-script is rare, but not impossible. Two years ago, with undefeated Colorado visiting for a highly anticipated matchup, the Ducks changed to a different uniform combination." ESPN.com'Our tradition to is to be untraditional': Inside the lif...Throughout the past two and a half decades, Oregon has pushed the envelope when it comes to uniforms.
  21. This is the key phrase right here. You can wear an old dirt brown and yellow shirt from the Mario era as long as you show up instead of selling your tickets to opposing fans. The amount of Ohio State fans at Autzen last year was pretty bad.
  22. South Carolina does this. They have white towels with the home and opposing team logos printed on them that they give out before every game. Of course, they have to uphold their reputation for having the wildest pre-game opening with the playing of "Sandstorm". Those towels play a huge part in the overall atmosphere throughout the game. To think that the towel waving craze started in the 70's when a bunch of drunken yokels from Pittsburgh raided their own linen closets at the suggestion of Myron Cope.
  23. It's been sunny and dry in Bloomington all week. They'll probably get a teste of the weather during their Friday practice. Oregon will be wearing yellow.
