Oregon Football: Time for the Ducks to Panic?
It's strange how a similar outcome is portrayed depending on who is writing the article. With the Job in Front of Them, Ducks Should Make a Radical Uniform Choice
I've seen fans on social media with some pretty hot takes. Most of them revolve around firing our assistant coaches and questioning why certain players are getting or not getting reps. However, a journalist suggesting that uniform color or style degrades or improves performance on the field is a whole new level of delusion. I would love to see Dan Lanning's reaction to a Dale Bliss question about the content of this article.

Brian Kelly at LSU? Fired. Who Are They & Other Teams Going to Replace HCs With?
I like these quotes from Cam Newton about Lane Kiffin. It also speaks to Dan Lanning’s situation. He basically said that Lane needs to chart his own path at Ole Miss instead of following legends at blue blood programs. He and Lanning would be in rare air. There are only two men alive today who won their university’s first football national championship. There were three before this year but Bill McCartney recently passed away. On3Cam Newton: Lane Kiffin should stay at Ole Miss, blaze hi....

Brian Kelly at LSU? Fired. Who Are They & Other Teams Going to Replace HCs With?
This is the best description of what is probably going to be happening at these schools. However, most of them did not resort to these hiring practices in the past when they had a high degree of success. LSU hired Saban from Michigan State after his only successful season in East Lansing (9-2). They then hired Les Miles who never finished higher than 3rd in the Big 12 South. Then they hired Ed O after he was successful as the Tiger's interim HC. Florida had huge success with Steve Spurrier whom they hired from Duke. He was fairly successful but had never won a bowl game before coming UF. Urban Meyer was a highly successful yet unknown coach out of Utah. He had only coached the Utes for two years and was the HC at BGU for three years before that. It seems like schools aren't even interviewing candidates anymore. They just pick a big name and throw money at him. The three big names from 2021 who got poached were replaced by guys who have had more success. I would much rather have Freeman, Venables and Lanning over Kelly, Riley and Mario.

The Oregon RB Rotation Needs to Change
I think Davison will be like Royce Freeman who ended up being the feature back after settling in during the 2014 season. I really like Noah as a change of pace back as stated in your article. He reminds me a lot of CJ Verdell. He's great when the holes are big, but lacks the vision to find the cracks. I'm looking forward to seeing how this RB rotation evolves.

Brian Kelly at LSU? Fired. Who Are They & Other Teams Going to Replace HCs With?
That's the problem with these bigger blue blood programs. There are many stakeholders who want to see an immediate return on their investments. Texas and Auburn have traditionally been the worst. Their boosters have a lot of power and they make sure the coaches know it.

Brian Kelly at LSU? Fired. Who Are They & Other Teams Going to Replace HCs With?
I actually think he will be Jonathan Smith's replacement. He started his head coaching career up in Michigan, so I think it's a good fit. In fact, I'm sure MSU already has the wheels in motion.

Brian Kelly at LSU? Fired. Who Are They & Other Teams Going to Replace HCs With?
Lanning’s buyout if he leaves on his own is only $20M. However, it’s been reported that he has $30M in unvested Nike stock if he stays through his contract. So, that $20 M buyout would likely have to go up to $50M to get him out of Eugene.

They’re all just going to get hired by other programs that fired their coach. A coaching musical chairs if you will. Kelly is going to have to work on a different accent.

The QB Plot Thickens…
I didn’t see it but apparently Novosad was warming up and everyone expected him to go in. Then, BT came onto the field instead.

Offensive Concerns
I stated this in another thread, but this is also a good place for it. Oregon had 9 penalties and four of them came at bad times. Two penalties moved the offense out from inside the 10 yard line and one killed a 2nd and 2 from the Wisconsin 34. The 4th penalty wiped a TD off the scoreboard.

Pretty Ugly Win, But I'll Take It...
Oregon had nine penalties for 75 yards. Two of them came in goal-to-go situations inside Wisconsin’s 10 yard line. Fortunately, the Ducks were able to overcome them and score TD’s. Another penalty came on 2nd and 2 in Wisconsin territory and eventually led to a punt. However, Oregon faked the punt and scored a TD only to have it called back by yet another penalty. This game very easily could have been 13-7 or 10-7 depending oh how Sappington kicked in the bad weather.

Bye week coming up before Iowa. Let’s hope Dante is healthy. I forgot Matayo Uiagelele was on the team until he wiped a TD off the scoreboard.

Sark to the NFL?
They’ll definitely swing for the fences, but Texas is the CFB equivalent of the Dallas Cowboys. The only difference is the Texas head coach has multiple Jerry Jones’ telling him how to do his job instead of just one. Honestly, I think Sark is sick and tired of the boosters trying to tell him how to run his program. I’m also quite sure that they’re hanging his job over his head because of how this season is going. His agent outwardly telling a journalist that he is interested in the NFL is basically Sark’s way of telling them that he doesn’t want to be there anymore.

Sark to the NFL?
I just heard on College Sports Radio on SXM that Sark’s representation told a reporter that he would be interested in a NFL head coaching position if he gets the opportunity. This has legitimacy since his agent came right out and said it to a reporter. No leaks and no “unnamed sources”. Could this be a ploy to get more money? Is Sark unhappy at Texas? Is Texas unhappy with Sark? We will soon find out because he will definitely be hounded by the media for answers. I would expect Texas to make a run at Lanning for sure. They think very highly of themselves which has been their downfall. Their booster are also very hands-on.

Bad News for Portland Trailblazers
Historically speaking, getting involved with La Cosa Nostra (i.e. the Italian Mob) is never a good idea. Snitching on them is even worse. It looks like Gilbert Arenas is going to sleep with the fishes. Or, at the very least, end up with a horse head in his bed. Gilbert Arenas 'snitching' rumors, explained: Why ex-NBA...Here's how Gilbert Arenas turned to trolling in the face of controversy.

A New Stein-Threat, and Pate Pushes Oregon to His No. 3?
I might add Texas Tech to the mix. We're just now seeing the fruits of the influx of oil money that has been getting pumped into that program. They will be a player for years to come. I think what makes Oregon attractive is not just Nike's money, but their vast experience in sports marketing. A&M proved you can buy the best players, but if you don't manage your NIL correctly it can be disastrous.

A New Stein-Threat, and Pate Pushes Oregon to His No. 3?
He did play for and graduate from Louisville. He left a B1G job to coach his alma mater. However, I think he would leave if he thought that their commitment to winning a national championship wasn't on par with those who are offering him a job.

A New Stein-Threat, and Pate Pushes Oregon to His No. 3?
A few years ago I would have thought that this is a ridiculous statement. How is it that a school such a as Oregon can go around the nation and poach coaches? Then I heard something on Sirius XM radio yesterday that brought me to the new reality. Oregon has become a destination job. There is a radio show on Channel 83 called College Sports Radio. In the afternoon they have a show called Off Campus with former college and NFL players Jacob Hester and EJ Manuel as hosts. They did a segment with one of their guests where they listed the top six college football programs that nobody should ever turn down. Their exact quote was "If one of these schools call, you take the job". In no particular order they all agreed that LSU, UGA, Bama, Ohio State Notre Dame and Oregon fell into that category. Everybody always knew Oregon has great resources with Nike's backing, but I think reality set in when Dan Lanning said he wasn't interested in leaving for Alabama or any other job. Add the fact that many coaches around the nation are never able to hide their envy when talking about Oregon's "vast resources" and "unlimited NIL money". If Oregon is ever in need of a new coach or coordinator there will be a line at the AD's door waiting for an interview.
