When Will the Remaining Undefeated Teams Lose?
Louisville stands a good shot of beating Miami at home if Shough can keep his emotions in check. He wants this win more than the one against Oregon last year. I can’t picture Kirby losing twice in the SEC, but they haven’t looked really good as of late. Texas has a 50/50 shot of losing this weekend. I have Oregon losing in Madison next month. Long trip, cold weather, very hostile environment and a much improved Wisconsin team will be too much. They destroyed a 4-1 Rutgers team last week. Their fans will also be extra juiced up since they’ve lost two straight Rose Bowls to us. That place will be as hostile as Autzen was last Saturday. Our only hope is that it will be a day game.

NCAA Closes the "Oregon Loophole", I Think Not.
I absolutely loved the call Kalen DeBoer made on 4th down against WSU last year to save their season. Fake zone read with a reverse. It probably wouldn't be effective near the goal line, but it was a very successful play.

Day In or Out at Ohio State?
Who would they hire to replace him? They would definitely be the top choice of schools with a vacancy. Florida, Auburn, and FSU are a mess with regard to their administrative leadership/boosters. Baylor and UNC aren't football schools and won't pay big money for a top tier coach. Their only competition might be Penn state. They seem to have a good administration, plenty of money, great facilities and they have showed a lot of patience. However, if they don't make the playoffs, I don't see Franklin being retained. All the great coaches are gainfully employed by top tier programs. There really isn't anybody to poach if they want to make a big splash. Freeman, Schiano or Matt Campbell might be good fits, but they would be underwhelming choices. Urban isn't coming back. Cignetti just got to Indiana, so I don't see him leaving. I'm just trying to wrap my head around who they could hire.

They get the timeout back. It’s in the rule book. This is from “Another OD’s” post on the other thread.

Now that everybody knows about it, the coach or QB can call an immediate timeout if he sees 12 players on defense in that situation. The ref will then penalize the defense with no time off the clock.

This Intentional Penalty is Next Level Coaching
The thing is Ryan Day did recognize the 12th man, but all he did was tell the refs that there was a 12th man on the field. Had he known the rules better he could've called timeout or had his QB run the play clock down to 0. Then, he would've gotten five yards with no time off the play clock.

Disappointed in National Coverage of Oregon vs. Ohio State
Quick question. Which player was Hall? I know some OSU fans are griping about there being one second left when Howard slid, but he didn’t get a first down so the clock kept running because nobody called a timeout fast enough. In fact it would be virtually impossible.

Lanning Tactic May Prompt Rule Change
Dennis Erickson did this to Rick Neiuheisel back in 2009 right before halftime. It only gets noticed when it’s a big game involving a blue blood. The good thing is the cat is out of the bag, so it can never be used against Oregon. However, we got a big win out of it.

Oregon Football's Traeshon Holden Issues Apology for Spitting on Ohio State Player
I’m sure that apology was for the public. I would be very surprised if he didn’t make some personal phone calls.

Disappointed in National Coverage of Oregon vs. Ohio State
Remember last year after Oregon lost in Seattle? All everybody was talking about was how the Ducks were actually the better team and would beat them in a rematch. Well, that rematch came and Washington was the better team. Hyping a rematch is not necessarily a bad thing for the talking heads.

More Reaction to That "Little" Autzen Stadium...
I’m sure Chip tried to prepare his offense for this, but he probably got the “Yeah, yeah. We’ve played at Penn State and Michigan, so we know how to deal with noise”.

Jeremiah Smith Interferes at Oregon? Never!
I remember how insufferable the Wisconsin fans were after the 2020 Rose Bowl because of how their final drive ended. There were bad calls on both sides in that game. Folks were posting pictures of KT getting held and even tackled on his way to the QB during scoring drives. There is a lot of recency bias when questionable calls come at the end of games.

You Know, I'm Just a Small-Time Schmuck...
I chalked the commentary up to familiarity. Todd Blackledge is a Penn State guy who grew up in Ohio. I can’t recall him ever doing many Oregon games before Saturday.

DUCKS Football Rise Above Themselves
Full disclosure. I have 3 great loves when it comes to sports. Oregon football, Gonzaga basketball (hey, Mark Few was a Duck), and Texas Rangers baseball. Between 2010 and 2022 I watched all 3 go to the championship games/series two times each and they all lost. All were heartbreaking, but the 2011 World Series was the worst (one strike away in the 9th and 10th innings). All three teams went from being lovable losers to up-and-comers to contenders in a short amount of time relatively speaking. Being a fan of a contender is way more stressful than the other two. It’s harder to expect to win every game than it is to hope for an upset. While it’s hard to lose championship games, I would much rather hope for a championship than hope for an upset.

Welcome to Autzen!!!
From many of the camera angles it looked like Ohio State had upwards of 15K-20K fans. That’s pretty impressive if it was that loud.

So Many Doubters...Lanning Wins a B1G One!
Kiffin also choked one away in a heartbreaker if hating on Lane is still chic.

Don’t forget the three points that River Boat Dan refused to take when he decided to go for it on 4th and goal. Then again, the special teams have been pretty iffy inside 20 yards.

Welcome to Autzen!!!
I bet his favorite part of the game was “A little bit softer now”.

AP: Shough's late TD pass lifts Louisville to a 24-20 win over Virginia
Next weekend he’s playing against the coach who ran him off from Oregon. I wonder if he’s motivated to win?

Language Warning!!! You can mute the sound and still get a good feel for the average OSU fan.

So Many Doubters...Lanning Wins a B1G One!
I thought he learned his lesson last year in Seattle. I guess he figured he would get another shot at OSU if he lost, but he’s not the kind of guy I’m taking gambling advice from.

Now I Officially Hate tOSU..
This is true. Purdue found their offense against a ranked Illinois team (49 points) on the road. I would hate for OBD to pull a “Bama” in West Lafayette on Friday night. I trust that DL will get them re-focused.

Now I Officially Hate tOSU..
I live in NC and I can’t swing a dead cat around here and not hit somebody wearing Ohio State gear. I may throw on my loudest Duck shirt and head over to the Harris Teeter and pick up some victory beer.
