  1. “There was no doubt it was going to seep into recruiting at some point. I think anybody that cares about college football is not real pleased with that because that wasn’t the intention” So they guy with the million dollar QB stolen from his previous stop is upset with NIL? Quick, someone get me the definition of hypocrisy.
  2. I think he means Oregon Territory. Conerly is the second offensive lineman in the state of Oregon that the Ducks landed in this class, following Puyallup (Wash.) four-star offensive lineman Dave Iuli.
  3. Apparently Josh Conerly Sr had drinks tonight with members of a SC fan site. I think any questions have been answered.
  4. I imagine Division Street would know if such a program existed. Division Street WWW.DIVISIONST.COM
  5. When a player enters the portal the school is under no obligation to continue the scholarship. I doubt WSU would fund a semester for a transfer to Oregon.
  6. Are you sure that is correct? I find information from the NCAA that May 1 is the deadline for athletes in fall/winter sports to notify their school they are entering the portal (Additionally, a student-athlete must provide their current school with a written request to enter the NCAA Transfer by May 1 if they participate in a fall or winter sport, or July 1 if they participate in a spring sport to use the one-time exception.) but nothing regarding an enrollment deadline. Wouldn't it be similar to a JC transfer, ie enrolled by fall session?
  7. His announcement that he planned to transfer from WSU to Oregon made news, 247's portal tracker lists him as enrolled. On his seldom used twitter account he says he a kicker at UO. Despite that he is not listed on the football roster nor the depth chart. Any information as to what happened?
  8. Oregon center Franck Kepnang to enter transfer portal and leave Ducks DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Ouch. Franck Kepnang has announced that he is going to enter the transfer portal. That’s a tough loss for the Ducks.
  9. Pulling for Villanova all the way. They build a team the old fashioned way, recruit freshmen and keep them in the program. If I glanced at their roster correctly they have a single transfer, Caleb Daniels, unrated out of high school and originally enrolled at Tulane. If we don't really care for the portal shouldn't we pull for teams that don't use it? Also I prefer Jay Wright to Coach K.
  10. The Auburn writer is looking for a NCAA record in jumping to conclusions. Would you name a starter based on four plays? Media was allowed for 20 minutes (including stretching) of the 4th practice. Each QB had a series. "None of the drives resulted in points, as each were capped at three or four plays." per 247.
  11. I imagine more kids dream of starring in a Nike commercial rather than repping a " vertically integrated real estate company" which boasts "The company seeks niche theses targeting attractive risk-adjusted returns" (Can anyone explain what that means?) as Caleb Williams has signed up for.
  12. DeVon clocked an unofficial 4.35 at Oregon's Pro Day on Friday. Reality is the time differences are negligible, it would be difficult to decide the winner in a head to head race.
  13. Similar to Oregon State when Scott Rueck took over from LaVonda Wagner. OSU has done OK.
  14. Wasn't Noah seriously considering Georgia when being recruited by Lanning? It appears so from his 247 recruiting profile.
  15. Brilliant scheduling by the Pac, have both Oregon BB and SB at UCLA basically playing at the same time on two of the three days. Maybe it cut travel cost (would they travel together?) but It certainly won't help attendance.
  16. Not getting my hopes up. He was scheduled to visit Oklahoma this weekend yet he is suddenly announcing beforehand. Reportedly an early A&M lean guess where he visited a couple days age---$$$$TAMU$$$$.
  17. Information is sketchy and open to interpretation but wouldn't a requirement to participate in a bowl game run afoul of the third item listed below? Of course, although this was a cut-and-paste from an NCAA Q&A document it is obvious the second item carries no weight. 11. What is prohibited under the new policy? Subject to state law, the following is prohibited under the new interim policy: • NIL agreement without quid pro quo (e.g., compensation for work not performed). Student-athlete NIL agreements should include the expected NIL deliverables by a student-athlete in exchange for the agreed upon compensation and student-athletes must be compensated only for work actually performed. • NIL compensation contingent upon enrollment at a particular school. For example, institutions should not use NIL arrangements to improperly induce matriculation (e.g., guaranteeing a particular NIL opportunity upon enrollment); • Compensation for athletic participation or achievement. Athletic performance may enhance a student-athlete’s NIL value, but athletic performance may not be the “consideration” for NIL compensation. • Institutions providing compensation in exchange for the use of a student-athlete’s name, image or likeness.
  18. I often wonder how much pandemic restrictions affected Oregon sports. Each state imposed their own regulations, and then each institution within a state developed their own protocols. My general impression was Oregon maintained fairly restrictive standards on group activities and social distancing. Kelly Graves reported the 20-21 team didn't even have post-practice meals together or group meetings to watch video. It is hard to develop team cohesion and unity when separated. During that timeframe OBD's lost team leaders, Alpha dogs if you will. Troy Dye, Payton Pritchard and of course Sabrina all moved on. Chris Duarte helped carry MBB but he was gone for this disappointing year. Both football and women's basketball did less than expected the last two years. Is it possible covid prevention measures contributed to the lack of performance? Note this is not a commentary on the measures themselves. Based on limited reports the Oregon teams avoided serious outbreaks and that is a good thing. I wouldn't want to emulate LSU who reported that "most" of their players caught the virus.
  19. Transfer and the draft. Oregon women’s basketball forward Sydney Parrish entering transfer portal WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Forward Sydney Parrish, who averaged 8.5 points and 3.3 rebounds over 32 games this season, announced she’s entering the transfer portal. Oregon women’s basketball forward Nyara Sabally declares for 2022 WNBA Draft WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Fourth-year sophomore forward Nyara Sabally, who led the Ducks in scoring, rebounding and blocks and was an all-Pac-12 honoree in each of the past two seasons, is entering the WNBA Draft, she... Oregon forwards Sydney Parrish, Kylee Watson enter transfer portal 247SPORTS.COM Oregon forwards Sydney Parrish, Kylee Watson enter transfer portal
  20. It wasn't all bad. I would leave my downtown Eugene office shortly before kickoff, buy a discounted ticket outside the stadium and relax, reclined against the seats behind me with my legs stretched out the bench in front. No stress about winning/losing.
  21. A1: In order to meet the criteria of the one-time transfer exception, the student-athlete must: » Transfer from a four-year collegiate institution to an NCAA Division I school; » Leave their current four-year school academically eligible; » Have not transferred previously from another four-year institution, and » Certify in writing, along with their new head coach, they did not have direct or indirect communication with the new school’s athletics staff prior to entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. OneTime_Transfer.pdf (ncaa.org)
  22. Canzano addressed NIL in a recent iece which Charles posted. His numbers are wildly different. In the first six months Oregon athletes signed 273 endorsement deals. The average value: $1,087. Biggest deal: $100,000 (Thibodeaux). But if you remove that six-figure outlier you get a better idea of how the typical Oregon athlete fared. Average at UO without Thibodeaux: $723.
  23. Bo Nix's Oregon bio says he graduated from Auburn last fall. Eliminating the requirement to sit out a year is for first time transfers so I don't imagine Nix has any other options.
