With 0:38 left, Penix is 18/32, 204 yards, and only 2 TDs, 1 Int. 0 yards rushing. Dear Lord... please, oh please give us the Huskies this Friday night.

Is the Final Pac-12/Oregon Screw-Job Shaping Up?
Desert Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Absolutely, Charles. I was already thinking the same thing. And now that Auburn totally sucked it beyond belief, it's shaping up nicely for us to get reamed again like we did in 2001. Plus, even the freaking Huskies are doing all they can to lose to the Cougars and make it even more unlikely for us to get in. -
Heisman Watch: Bo Nix a Favorite
Desert Duck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
So you agree with Solar that Daniels numbers this week are better than Bo's? At best, I'd say it's a push. Ps. Me previously calling A&M soft was not accurate. As I looked at their 5 losses, 4 of those were to current Top-20 teams. -
Freaking Auburn. No wonder Bo got out of that place. 4th & 31. 30 seconds left. TD Bama. Oregon is literally getting help from nobody.

Which Did You Like Better in the Oregon-Oregon State game?

Heisman Watch: Bo Nix a Favorite
Desert Duck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'm struggling to see how Daniel's stats, in a win at home against an average-at-best, and unranked A&M squad, are more impressive than Bo's against the #16 ranked team in the nation. Daniels - Against a soft A&M team was: - Passing: 16/24 - 66% - 235 yards - 4 TDs - Rushing: 11 carries - 121 yards - 0 TDs - Total Yards: 356 Bo - Against a very tough OSU team was: - Passing: 33/40 - 83% - 367 yards - 2 TDs. - Rushing: 6 carries - 31 yards - 1 TD - Total Yards: 398 By comparison between their last game played, maybe you can help me see what I'm missing. I'd say that if we'd like to look at Bo's numbers on the road against, against an unranked opponent, lets look last week at ASU and Bo's first 30 minutes of play. Daniel's is a stud... no doubt about it. And he also has 3 losses to go with his stats. And not a single win against a team that was ranked in the Top 20 when they played them. Plus, in most games we played, after Bo led us to huge leads early, he often sat out most of the fourth quarter, and in some cases, all of the fourth quarter. In other words, Daniels has had a ton more minutes of PT than Bo. -

Doesn't Daniel's have 3 losses to go along with his other stats? -
In Dan, I trust. But yes, he is currently broken.

Just in: Smith leaving OSU for Michigan State!
Desert Duck replied to anyotherduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If I may, I'd like to point out the one singular reason that Oregon (and UW) wisely, and fortunately, got out on about the last lifeboat: Money It's always the money. Always and forever, follow the money. If we hadn't gotten a late B1G deal, right now, we'd be barely in a slightly better position than the abysmal one that the Beavers are in. From where I sit, the primary blame for the sad and painful demise and destruction of the storied, and once mighty, PAC-12 conference, resides at the feet of a one particular PAC-12 commissioner, along with a bunch of University presidents and athletic directors... Who stood by for about a decade, not wanting to admit or see that the emperor had no clothes on... and that he was essentially utilizing our conference as his own personal piggy bank. Sadly, and throughout history, willing blindness has been an often, and all too common, tale and phenomena . And when allowed to run for an extensive period, only results in destruction. From athletic conferences, to nations, many have fallen for this same reason. -

I'm pretty sure that just because some Beavers are dreaming, it does not make Tosh Lupoi a 'candidate.' I would be curious if anyone from OSU even asked Tosh if he was remotely interested in the job. Heck, why not say that Urban Meyer is a candidate too. -

From 1971-1998, 28 straight OSU losing seasons. Although, the Ducks were only slightly better through many of those Dark Age years. -

Well, in my comment above, I'm asking the exact same thing. I think there may need to be a major shift in the way most all of us have been thinking. At the end of the day, and while football is awesome, what the State of Oregon, and it's citizens, need more than anything by far, are strong educational institutions. And while we left Oregon 12 years ago, and admittedly I have derived some significant guilty pleasure from the demise of the Beavers football program, I'm now past that and trying to look at the bigger picture and what is best for the State of Oregon. -

Regarding Oregon State, I would think the question all Oregonians should be asking now is what is best for Oregon State University, because that impacts the entire state. Is it best to continue with running an expensive football program that, if they can't get into a P5 conference, they don't have the money for? Would it negatively impact the school financially if they did not have a football program, or would dropping football improve it? At this point I think that perhaps the question that should be asked is what is the best move to make Oregon State, which already has a good reputation as an educational institution, a top notch educational institution. I think this might be what is ultimately best for OSU, and the State of Oregon. Now, feel free to shred my comment if you think that I'm talking blasphemy. -

And oh-boy... If we thought we heard nearly perpetual blaming, incessant whining, crying, and moaning, from Beaver fans before... Their disdain and hatred for said evil program 50 miles down the road -- and some dude named 'Phil,' is only going to get worse. I actually pity the Beavers now. -

I like Jonathan Smith and, based upon his rather amazing performances at OSU, appears to be an excellent coach. I wish him all the best that MSU. But obviously, not as good as OBD. -

Sad-Sad Beavers 10. Wake up the following morning to discover that your most excellent head coach, who is also a Beaver alum, is more than likely about to abandon you as well... and join said evil program 50 miles down the road in the B1G powerhouse conference. 11. Repeat the extensive and nearly perpetual blaming, incessant whining, crying, and moaning, ad infinitum. -

SoGaDawg - What you're saying makes sense, but I'm afraid that we might be looking at a repeat of 2001 all over again. But perhaps that's just me because of wounds from a memory and time gone by. I sure hope so. -

I'm voting for one of these teams to annihilate and beat the ever-luvin-crap out of the other one... by a huge, wide, margin. Couldn't care less which one wins. -
Jonathan Smith...STAY With the Beavers!
Desert Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Sad-Sad Beavers 1. First, you wake up one morning to find that everyone, except you and some school East of the Cascades, have evacuated our beloved conference. 2. You realize that you and some school east of the Cascades are left holding the conference remnant in a wet paper bag. 3. You then realize that you are an absolutely innocent victim (of course), and naturally, it's everyone else's fault... especially that evil school 50 miles down the road... along with some dude named "Phil." 4. You then realize that your next best move is to incessantly blame said evil school down the road that has helped carry your program for decades --- for all of your problems since about forever. 5. You then are forced to the cold realization -- after extensive and nearly perpetual blaming, incessant whining, crying, and moaning -- that no other real conference in the world wants you. 6. You then realize that there is a Plan B option: The "PAC-2" -- and thereby proceed to Step #7. 7. Attempt to pirate, steal, and rob, the remaining cash in the former PAC-12 checking account... all while still blaming said evil school 50 miles down the road... and "Phil" -- but now also mixing in the other 9 semi-evil schools... who also helped carry you for decades. 8. Play said evil school 50 miles down the road in the final official Civil War game. 9. Get your lunch, and dinner (it was a late game) handed to you in final Civil War game, followed by once again by the aforementioned blaming of said evil school 50 miles down the road (and of course, that dude named "Phil"). 10. The end. And have a nice day. -
Jonathan Smith...STAY With the Beavers!

What I basically heard from Smith is: "Show me the money, and I'm outta here." -
That's a serious, punishing, defense right there. Before tonight, OSU averaged 33 points per game. Tonight.. 7 points. Before tonight, in the 3 losses the Beavs had this season, they lost by an average of 3 points. Tonight they lost by 24. Ducks utterly dominated and owned the nation's 16th ranked team.
