Oregon just needs to light it up in Lubbock. I know the O-line has some changes but a lot of talent. By the time we are done with fall camp and PSU I think they can be ready. Nix will have some serious weapons and Stein will have it dialed up. It could be one of those 52-49 things. Some improved D (we will I think) and that's winnable even in Texas. The post-spring top 25 will be similar to the late August pre-season polls. It is always a lot different in December. The Pac looks primed to impress (and I hope they do sans the purple pooch mutts) but it's never what we think. USuC could go 8-4, Utah 8-4, OSU could be similar. Nix could win the Heismann under Stein. I can't wait. Where will our Ducks finish?

A lot of the "not reported" teams have empty stands normally, except Utah. We're the only team in the west that approaches SEC type numbers. Colorado this year...clearly a neon effect.

Draft To Date Tells the Tale of Today's Pac-12
JDuck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I've read some good articles that showcase the SEC and the patsies they schedule OOC and it has had little impact on making the playoff. Win your games and you'll make it. 13-0 is tough but with a 4 team playoff I think Oregon would be in regardless of OOC or Pac strength. 12-1 might be more realistic. Unfortunately polls impact perception. I think polls should be banned until after week 5 or 6. It tends to set the pecking order all season and several 12-1 teams screaming for the playoff and someone gets left out. Beating top 10 teams does seem to help leapfrog sometimes. I still think polls the first few weeks are dumb. Like the way too early top 25s...just click bait -

Hopefully Lanning changes that single handedly -
I don't disagree Jon, but just saying, if they try hard for you they deserve to be there even if they don't ever see the field much. "Kicking kids out" doesn't seem right. If a kid chooses to bail hoping for playing time that's on them.

Kids get recruited based on what they do in High School. Teams with good coaches (1. Player Development 2. A nose for talent that finds and develops those 3 Star Mariotas and LaMichaels and many others) will do fine. You offer a scholarship based on what you saw of the kid. If they work hard and try, they deserve the scholarship until they graduate (up to 5 years). As long as they don't do stupid stuff (armed robbery) although if Darron Thomas star QB says "we smoked it all occifer" and doesn't get booted, the same standard should apply to the other kids. We gave a few DUI kids another chance too.

N'Faly Dante Announces Return for 2023 Season with the Ducks
JDuck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
He and Bittle are both better as 5's, so the true freshman replacing Ware will hopefully develop quick, and DA can use all the bigs a bit more situationally to some degree. Get the Guards and wings to shoot better and let's go! -
The Coach Debate: Dan Lanning vs. Kalen DeBoer
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
His Fresno St. almost beat us at Autzen, we had a lot more talent but coaching...not so much. He is a good coach but yes, down the road our top 10 or better classes and good coaching will be too much for the purple pooch mutts to overcome. Hope we blow them out in Seattle this fall. -

I dunno, they lost a lot of good D to NFL/graduation. If the QB is still out (ACL) which is a strong possibility, and Nix and company are hot...we can sure win that one. Our own D has nowhere to go but up...it all starts with line pressure, which will make a rebuilt secondary much better to offset the veteran losses, but we've got some good talent coming in too. LB in the Lanning D is the biggest ? to me. -
QUAAACK! Oregon Nabs Commitment From Four-Star Safety Aaron Flowers

They schedule these way in advance. aTm chickened out on us, and we did get tOSU but didn't get the home end because of some virus. At the horseshoe, who won? But yeah right now the future ooc could use a little more flavor. Then again, the SEC schedules mostly patsies, with a 4th ooc mega-patsie the week before big rivalry week, almost like a bye the week before their big games. That said, we need the dough, the SEC doesn't. Their formula is schedule patsies and they win most of the natty's. But, they don't need the dough.

Other guards are seniors or Roger's is going pro, but it's interesting the #1 class of all 5-stars, only TeHe lasted, and now she's gone. Something has been off. Sabrina was larger than we realized and we all know how big she was?

Nate Bittle Represents the "Fun" for the Fan
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
5 stars don't always excel immediately. Kelel Ware is another example. If Ware can play a 4 (seems he can) and Bittle the 5, we could be in for a fun season next year if everyone can stay healthy. I see Shelstad as a day one starter at point. A good defender who can score in the paint to come off the bench for the bigs would be nice. Doesn't have to be a 3 point threat, although Bittle is and Ware seems to be capable. The NBA big man trend is now a 3 point threat. I think our backcourt will be deep if healthy. The 3 spot will be the biggest ? with Guerrier graduating. With 2 strong bigs another 3-type wing won't need as much size perhaps. Now if Graves can just get the women's team to gel
