  1. I think all the transfers and the roster is different every year and the one in duns I think that has an impact on the team even understanding how critical of a rivalry that is even if it's not football. We seem to step up for UCLA which is like the rivalry for basketball I guess
  2. I think CB is lining up to be a position of strength for a couple years with the incoming transfer and the recruits. Probably doesn't see himself in the 2-deep for awhile in Eugene. Upcoming classes I bet--hope--this staff will bring in some 5 star level DB's
  3. Can you imagine if NFL style Marxism hit the college level? The conferences with big TV revenue have to share with those that don't...so that every team gets an equal payout every year, kind of like a level cap. Every team can only pay NIL at the same max. The NIL part might hurt a big Nike school like Oregon, but the PAC would sure recover from Loser Larry a lot quicker. Yeah...won't happen. And even with caps, somebody wins the super bowl and NBA championship while somebody goes 2-14 and 20-62. And MLB has no cap and the Yankwads spend double the closest next payroll and haven't won the world series in a while, you'd think they'd win it every year. So...maybe caps don't even matter? Sorry, Sunday evening ramblings
  4. I'd be surprised if we don't end up in the NIT. It would probably take winning the P12 tournament...if they play well that's totally realistic, but we just don't have a closer, a go-to guy. Richardson was 0-8 last night. We shot poorly--again--and got out-rebounded but still had a shot and lost by 1. Didn't seem like the inbounds with 4 seconds left set us up well, but hard to blame DA. Looking forward to the 5* true point guard coming in next season
  5. I can't imagine all of them don't keep future options in the back of their minds. Hopefully Lanning can make a winner here and will look at Oregon as a final stop, not a stepping stone. The "O" emblazoned on the big trophy multiple times
  6. And last years Elite 8 Beevwads are one of the worst teams in the country. LOL not good for the Pac but... Arizona should be in a 3-year program suspension be here they are again...Tucson is not that great of a place to live. I don't get it. Altman had a certain assistant coach the whole Oregon tenure until this year...I wonder how much better he was than we think??? I can't even remember his name, he got a well deserved head coach gig
  7. These things are, as they admit...WAY WAY WAY too early. Next year's top 25 in January, just click bait to me. Waste of time to read these in my worthless opinion. But I get it, we football freaks can't help it. They know it, it sells ads
  8. Having the winter Olympics in a place with little snow is just plain stupid. Shiffrin wasn't the only DNF in the slalom...there were about 35. Artificial ice sucks
  9. Fantastic Powder and Rock Climbing. 5 cool national parks. I-15. It's 3x bigger than I-5, right?
  10. WBB: We've discussed in another forum, was KG looking better with Sabrina/Ruthie/Satou than his X-O or motivational skills? I don't know if people understand just how amazing those players were, Sabrina especially...generational talent. Now, five 5* players, Dugalic transferred already (played little), TeHina is good when she is good but streaky, Maddie and Sydney start but have been completely unproductive, check the box scores. Rogers and Sabally have carried the team, but as someone else mentioned, same with MBB, so many missed layups and 2 foot shots, so many fumbles in the paint, so many turnovers. WIth WBB, it's not just the bigs. Sedona, BTW, has played limited minutes for a month and little production, missing the 12 to 16 footers she used to hit. Yesterday she had a good first half. Are all these 5 stars mostly over-rated? I forgot Kylie Watson, she has played sparingly. Or is KG not as a good of a coach without a couple generational players? Or does this team just fail to execute, like late in the game yesterday, not boxing out on the free throw miss? Oh, and the free throw shooting, both Men's and Women's. Don't understand the men's collapse against Utah, or Colorado when we lost at home. I get the injuries for the women and hectic travel schedule, but something else doesn't add up.
  11. The RB flip from Georgia looks like he can do that...and strong between the tackles too...very much reminds me of another Oregon great RB also named James
  12. A good win, they'd let asu back in, then go on another run. Better ball movement, seems to be coming together. Turnovers still annoy me, hopefully that cleans up, starting with the AZ game. I hope we go down there and punish the cats
  13. Didn't live up to the recruiting promises....
  14. It's possible we hit top 25, but that stuff isn't as important as developing all the stars we have, who chose to stay, and the '22s coming in. Some decent transfers bring in good, experienced D1 players, adds depth. They don't count in the rankings, but I see now someone is ranking the portal, no surprise. Somebody will take the 247 Composite and merge it with the Portal rankings, and you get some dumb number...that doesn't really matter. Next years class could be top 5 with this staff! Still...it's all about coaching them up, MC and company proved that, huh?
  15. I was very annoyed on numerous occasions last fall as we got dumb 15 yard penalties, and I fully believe that was on MC as the head coach, the culture he created, and the assistants to some degree. I saw a lot of Duck showboating and trash talking after plays where it clearly wasn't earned, just like the one you mention where he got burned, and the D got lucky. That Rams-Niners game, seemed like there were no holding or false start penalties. MC made an emphasis on penalties his first couple seasons in Eugene, and we were one of the worst in FBS. He did improve it a lot, but the last two seasons...seems like the penalty numbers went way up again. That's coaching and discipline. Looking forward to what Lanning brings! The "de-recruitment process"...perfect! Especially with all this NIL garbage, may be even harder to get the entitlement attitudes out of some kids.
  16. Nobody on this forum is on the team...I'm talking about us! 😆
  17. Must be a slow Saturday, why didn't you guys ski? I don't think MC will ever win the ACC, he may recruit enough to win the division (if they can beat Pitt) but he can't even get a DC or an OC. I see some 7-5 on the Miami horizon, 7-6 after they lose their bowls to Middle Tennessee State or Western Michigan or some team like that
  18. He seems more like the speed rush DE/OLB as opposed to the more traditional bigger 4-3 DE, with KT gone, he might make a good complement to Swinson...could be a valuable add, hopefully he would really thrive in our system
  19. They develop more academically prowessessnesserer
  20. Maybe he'll at least get to play in a couple of 5-7 seasons down there
  21. As someone stated above, I bet we add on more RB thru the portal. If we don't smash it up the middle every time (new OC I suspect will be way more creative than Cristobol) then Seven McGee...using the speed to find the holes on the edges would be a great compliment to Cardwell, who will probably thrive in a new system as well.
  22. Money has definitely ruined college football. A lot of things were definitely better the way they "used to be" (though not all, as you aptly point out). The biggest problem with the SEC having their own "championship" is they will always claim to be the true national champions. The run for the roses winner will at best be a "split" champion. There is a school up north that thinks they have been a champion once long ago based on that. The "alliance" schools, and their players and fan bases, will want a shot at an undisputed natty, I know I do as a Duck fan. If the RFTR winner plays the SEC winner on January 10th, that's better. Or, just expand the playoff, what everyone wants now. There will be years where an Oregon, Baylor or Wisconsin will pull off the upset and be the undisputed champ. Still leaves a lot of issues due to NIL and bad TV deals, but going back to Michigan winning the AP when Nebraska would have beaten them by 28 in 1997...I don't like that either.
