  1. According to the article then, Oregon has 24 - of its top 100 rated recruits ever - currently on the team. Thanks for posting Jon.
  2. While I initially thought this also, the guy is obviously referring to the SEC West. He did it just so it would look cute with saying those Cali schools are going east.
  3. I am assuming this was looked into before the dismissal. This is very good for Lanning in maintaining discipline in the future. Guys will think twice... we hope!
  4. Great get for ASU! Does anyone still think that the PAC 10/12 is on the fast track for becoming a G-6 league????? Every single PAC 12 team has been ranked in the top 25 in the nation over the last 20 years. It is getting harder to win the conference crown, not easier. When the playoffs go to 12 teams, it seems likely that the PAC 10/12 will frequently have more than one participant... a complete turn around from the last few years... and that WITHOUT USC or UCLA in the mix.
  5. We might tap the breaks just a little bit. I don't think Lanning has "all" his guys. And they have not all been developed very much (40 freshmen?????) So, expecting the moon this year might be a little optimistic, even for me. It's still going to take a couple years to get the defensive motor humming. The sheer number of edge rushers we recruited and "portalled" in tells me DL doesn't know which ones will truly fit the D. We recruited enough to get at least four that should fit. Talk about a full room and tons of competition to get on the field...
  6. Jonathan Smith was a short walk on and took the Beavers to their highest heights so far as a QB. He is probably going to up that Beavers' ceiling again as a coach.
  7. True indeed, but there is no contract when kids are being enticed to sign/transfer. It's just somebody's promise (hence, the article above - a promise was at least perceived, but not kept). When a big donor is promising a big deal, you don't think the big donor won't add, "...and if you stick around and do really well, there will be more... a lot more." The whole idea behind NIL is that the athlete's name, image, and/or likeness will be worth something that the athlete should be able to cash in on. If the kid is a bust his NIL is worth nil. I am sure that any intelligent donor/employer would make that perfectly clear.
  8. I can see a $13 million offer with $.5 million true freshman year, $1 million redshirt freshman year if he sees the field, $2 million sophomore year if he becomes the starter, $4 million junior year if they make the playoffs, $6 million senior year if they win the championship... Less if benchmarks aren´t reached, more if they are exceeded. Multiyear contract with incentives, just like the coaches... with the ability to fire if expectations aren't met, just like the coaches.
  9. This is good. It makes athletes think hard before jumping to another school. If they choose the wrong school out of high school, they get a Mulligan. If they choose wrong a second time, it's on them.
  10. This was the screensaver on my home computer....guess I have to change it! You don't have to... Cam will always be a good memory.
  11. Agreeing with both you and Annie here... except for the NIL part. He has every reason to be 100% loyal to Oregon (totally agreeing with Charles)... AND it seems like he got a good number of snaps last year. Since a couple of TEs have already hit the road, you would think that he would probably get snaps next year. I doubt that another school would want him so bad as to illegally poach him AND offer him a SIGNIFICANT amount more than what he could get at Oregon. So, what are we left with? Hmmmm. We don't know. It's very possible that he is being unselfish and wanted to make room for DL to build the team he wants... or maybe he asked his position coach what the future held. Maybe he left because somewhere else he could get a lot more snaps and improve his NFL chances more. I'm not going to judge the guy because we just don't know (and that's where I agree with Annie).
  12. Good to see 6 Pac 12 teams in the top 25. That's a lot more respect than we have been given lately. If those who shall not be mentioned would have stuck it out, our media rights deal would be a lot more than what it was looking like a year ago. Two teams in the top 10; four teams in the top 15??? That's pretty good. SEC has 3 in the top 10 and still only 3 in the top 15. OOOoooo, the PAC has more teams in the top 15 than the SEC does. The B1G has the same, 3 in the top 10 and only 3 in the top 15.
  13. Oregon didn't lose to Georgia by this much. Hmmmm. Go Ducks!!!!
  14. Seems like we are totally in the dark as to how we are going to put so many guys on the team and still hold the total scholarships to 85. We keep guessing, but I think we are probably going to have to stay tuned to see how it all comes out in the end. I'm guessing that DL and the brain trust have at least some things figured out.
  15. Let's give them one more year.... and THEN kick them out.
  16. I laughed out loud twice... but this from July was my favorite: Beavers football coach Jonathan Smith is asked about his expectations for the season. He says: “We expect to win them all.” Nobody laughs. He isn’t joking. My second LOL was from November: Academics on campus aren’t happy but it’s quickly pointed out that nobody buys a $50 ticket to attend a Stanford lecture. Says one of the academics: “True, but nobody buys a $50 ticket to attend a Stanford football game either.”
  17. "Look, I can be oblivious at times, but I am not crazy; of course you take the chance on a scholarship with Harbor..." I think you answered your own question here. Wasn't Devon Allen injured on a kick off return? The first one of the game, which took him out of it... alas!
  18. In Bowls so far, the B1G is 4-2, the PAC12 is 3-2, and the SEC is 4-5.
  19. Pretty impressive. Grows confidence in DL and company's ability to assess the capabilities of the various athletes that they want to invite to Oregon.
  20. Root for Washington to win, but to look bad doing it.
  21. Root for what is good for Oregon. What's better for the PAC is good for Oregon.
