Did Anyone Else Have Charles Show Up Trick-or-Treating at Their House
The Duck doesn’t look happy. Coach Dan Lanning must have had a conversation with him. Feel bad for Michigan.

Redundancy, and How Long Before You're A Duck?
I think it’s cool that we have players transferring from all over the country to play for The Ducks, and don’t mind.

Freshmen Riggs and Flowers..
Perhaps the coaches wanted to preserve Riggs' redshirt, while also providing him with ample time to learn the offense and get acclimated to the college game before getting more playing time down the stretch run?

The Bend-But-Don’t-Break Defense is WORKING?
Will Howard is a very good college QB and the Ducks defense faces one of the best every day in practice. There are only a handful of QBs who may be better (e.g., Cam Ward, Texas's QBs). I have faith in Oregon's secondary.

The Bend-But-Don’t-Break Defense is WORKING?
There was some bad tackling from the Oregon defense in that game. Credit to the coaches and players for cleaning it up. Sometimes you just have to go back to fundamentals during the football season...

Who Should Duck Fans Pull For: tOSU or Penn St?
Back to the original question - I'll be pulling for Penn State. I'd rather Oregon play an undefeated Penn State in the B1G Championship Game. It'll be more entertaining with two undefeated top 3 teams playing for the conference championship game (should be #1 vs. #2) with the winner getting a first round college football playoff bye. Plus, it's another opportunity for the Ducks to knock off another B1G blue blood, which will never get old. Go Ducks!!! Keep handling business and getting better every week...

Who Should Duck Fans Pull For: tOSU or Penn St?
I miss the Pac-10 and playing every team in the conference during the regular season. We still had some wacky tie breakers (e.g., 2000) but at least every team had an even schedule.

The Bend-But-Don’t-Break Defense is WORKING?
I’m shocked that Coach Lanning and Coach Lupoi haven’t been more aggressive with their blitz packages or simulated pressures, thus far. We did blitz more against Illinois and hopefully they are saving the more exotic looks for the playoffs. Maybe our coaches just have supreme confidence in our front 4 to generate pressure without having to send an extra man or get fancy.

The Ultimate Humiliation Would be Losing to Washington
That’s a good point. Like with Clay Helton, let’s have USC win just enough to keep Lincoln Riley, please. Plus, I’ll never root for the mutts.

Michigan QB says "Bring 'Em On" about Oregon
For a QB that has thrown twice as many interceptions as touchdowns, he should probably keep his mouth shut.

Charles's Chuckles: You Gotta Have a Laugh Sometimes...
Sorry, Jack -- Coach Lanning said in one of his team meetings, after the Ohio State victory, that they weren't letting people back on the Oregon boat...

Ryan Day's Seat is Getting HOT at Ohio State
Things would have gotten very interesting in Columbus, if Ohio State lost to Nebraska at home, coming off a loss at Oregon and a bye. LOL.

Oregon's SURPRISE B1G Tour Continues...
Oregon’s pre season schedule was favorable this year - two guaranteed victories against Division II schools and one matchup against a good top 25 team at home. Thank goodness we had the first game against Idaho to work out the kinks.

Gabriel Now the Favorite to Win the Heisman
And Bo Nix would probably have won it last year, if he had a good game and beat Washington in the conference championship game.

B1G Officiating: Three Blown Calls in ONE Game?
The B1G wants to allow teams to play physical but they have to call the obvious penalties: holding on the edge, blatant PI where there is holding, pushing off or a tackle before the ball arrives, etc. Oregon got away with some penalties too (e.g., defensive facemark). The defensive targeting could have been called, even though it wasn't intentional. I believe that the fumble wasn't reviewable because the official on the field blew the play dead. Officials have been taught for years to let the play continue and then the replay official can review the play to see if the runner was down. Hopefully Oregon sends these plays into the B1G office and the refs can be trained better because it seems to be happening every single game.

Oregon's National Defensive Rankings After Game No. 8
Scoring Defense: #10 (15.62 points per game) Total Defense: #12 (297.2 yards per game) Team Passing Efficiency Defense: #9 (105.1) Rushing Yards Per Carry Defense: #46 (4.05) 3rd Down Conversion Defense: #27 (33.0%) 4th Down Conversion Defense: #20 (37.5%) Red Zone Defense: #55 (81.8%) - An area for improvement? NCAA College Football FBS current team Stats | NCAA.com WWW.NCAA.COM Discover the current NCAA FBS Football leaders in every stats category, as well as historic leaders. =========================== Look at those national rankings for Oregon's defense: #10 in the country in scoring defense and #12 in total defense! And, as Anthony Newman says, "They are getting better!" with another great performance against a top 20 Illinois team. There are a couple of areas that the defense can improve on: 1. Rushing defense (YPC) -- Going against Jeanty didn't help our stats and this will be tested on Saturday by Michigan 2. Red zone defense 3. Defensive turnovers (it would help if the B1G officials would make the right calls!) We are seeing what many of us hoped to see when Oregon hired Coach Lanning but there is still room for improvement. Hopefully, we can get Burch back soon and the defensive line can wreck havoc on opposing offenses down the stretch. I also enjoyed seeing some of the non-starters contributing late in the game yesterday (e.g., Sione Laulea at 6'4" had a a nice interception and pass breakup) showing Oregon's depth. They say that "defense wins championships" and Oregon has a pretty good one this year.
