  1. If Coach Lanning can bring a national championship to Eugene, he will be legendary at the University of Oregon. (I could care less about how he is perceived nationally.)
  2. I’m hoping Dan Lanning can be Florida States’ Bobby Bowden (without the off-the-field issues) or Duke basketball’s Mike Krzyzewski. As someone said: “Why follow the legend, when you can BE the legend?!”
  3. The Beavers are going to be at a severe competitive disadvantage, going forward. OSU is going to have a mid-major roster and will not be able to afford to retain a top coaching staff. That said, they will be dangerous, especially in Corvallis.
  4. USC’s over/under is 7.5. If I were a betting man, I’d go with the over. I think 10 wins is a stretch but believe 8 or 9 wins is possible, if the defense improves even slightly.
  5. I think that USC will do a little better than expected. Riley is a really good offensive coach and their DC should be able to improve the defense. The issue is recruiting and Riley’s ability to meet USC football expectations.
  6. Coach Stein has to be salivating over how he will be able to use Tradarian. He is fast (10.51 100M), shifty and has great hands (you can line him up in the slot, out wide or have him catching passes out of the backfield). Very exciting weapon to have on offense and I expect him to be the lightning to Jordon Davison’s thunder. Very exciting times. GO DUCKS!!!
  7. Back in the day of network TV broadcasting, only the top college football teams were featured on TV. With the proliferation of cable and steaming, every program of note will have a chance to be featured resulting in exposure for the players (for family and NFL scouts). Therefore, I do not expect the same roster stacking as before. You don’t need to got to Alabama, Notre Dame, USC, et al to get exposure to have a shot at the NFL.
  8. Getting the #1 recruiting class would be nice, but it’s more important for Coach Lanning to get the right players with the right attitudes and work ethics.
  9. Well, that proves it. H3ll is freezing over…
  10. I saw the interview as well. Lanning clearly is very thankful for all the coaches he has worked under. Below is the quote, per CBS Sports: "I think it's impressive that guys like Kirby have been signing the No. 1 class in the nation without any NIL money this entire time," Lanning said jokingly. "Obviously, Coach Smart took a little shot at us. If you want to be a top 10 team in college football, you better have great support. We have that." Big Ten Media Days 2024: Oregon coach Dan Lanning jabs back at Georgia's Kirby Smart over NIL remark - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Lanning coached for Smart for four years at Georgia and considers him a mentor
  11. Or is Herbie just trying to reduce the expectations/pressure on his precious Ohio State...
  12. Yikes. You often don't hear coaches that critical of other coaches and programs, in public.
  13. UCLA doesn't have the booster support for athletics (not even for mens basketball).
  14. Well, that was UCLA's entire pitch to the B1G on why they should get in ahead of Oregon and get the full media share...
  15. No, thank you, but I would take Stanford over UCLA....
  16. The Rose Bowl and parade on New Year’s Day is a fantastic tradition that Pasadena will do anything to protect. I’m sure that they could find a better alternative in the West Coast for semi- and finals (SoFi, Las Vegas, Phoenix).
  17. I don’t have any issues with Oregon being selected behind Ohio State. They will have one, if not the best, defenses in the country and are also loaded with talent. Coach Day has something to prove as a head coach (as does Dan Lanning). Oregon also seems to do better, historically, as the underdog. At least the regular season game is at Autzen!
  18. I would much rather have Jabbar in an Oregon uniform than have to go against him. He looks fantastic and ready to lock s&@% down! He played real handsy last year. The B1G lets players play, which should benefit Jabbar’s game. GO DUCKS!!!
  19. Has Wilson watched a Mario coached offense?!! Quick: Someone send him some tape…
  20. Exactly. Now Oregon’s supporters can legally pay recruits and players (vs. secret handshakes with envelopes of cash changing hands, under the table). It has leveled the playing field for programs like Oregon. I do wish there were more rules (e.g., team salary caps, “rookie scales”) and transparency re: NIL.
  21. Oregon State will be a mid major soon, if they are not already. Conference re-alignment is going to kill their recruiting and resources. So thankful that Oregon got off the sinking ship…
  22. FSU and Clemson feel more like SEC teams to me both geographically and culturally. Notre Dame and North Carolina would be better fits in the B1G, IMHO. However, if the B1G wants to continue to compete with the SEC they should be looking to add the best programs possible. Miami to the Big 12?
  23. Or Oregon’s collective is willing to pony up but it has to be for the right player, in a position of need.
  24. The Bay Area schools have always been academic snobs and likely killed PAC-12 expansion options because they didn’t want to associate with certain universities. I was really hoping that Cal and Stanford would be invited to join the B1G. They certainly have the academics and are competitive in other sports. Then the B1G would have the entire West Coast from Seattle to Los Angeles and could have created pods for scheduling purposes.
