  1. Oregon Football: Ducks’ QB Bo Nix named semifinalist for Maxwell Award DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Bo Nix is one of 20 finalists for the Maxwell Award, and one of 5 Pac-12 players to make the cut for the prestigious award.
  2. Deion would be interesting. He appears to be a good HC, but that is at FCS level. He has recruited more than a handful of top tier division 1 talent. In the 2021 class Jackson State had five 4 stars and three 3 stars. He also had 11 transfers from P5 schools and another 7 from G5 schools. When you have better players, you tend to win more games. I have no idea if that transfers to the Division 1 level where you aren't going to have better players. I feel it is easy to attract FCS players with his fame, but I'm not sure that would happen at the FBS level. I do know he would be entertaining off the field.
  3. As mentioned several times, the transfer portal isn't open until after bowl games, so how is he entering it now? I hope Seven the best. However, I also hope the team doesn't allow him to be anywhere team facilities. He can go use the gym where all the other nonathlete students.
  4. Way too much football to play. No power 5 12-1 conference champion has missed the CFP, except tOSU in 2018. See what I did there with the Big 12 in 2014? Neither team was 12-1, TCU and Baylor were both 11-1. tOSU lost to 6-6 @ Purdue 49-20 and missed out to Oklahoma who lost to 9-3 Texas @ Texas 45-48. Then came back and beat them 39-27 in the Big 12 championship game. CFP says they will hold up conference championships, so if that is to remain true, Michigan/tOSU winner, Tennesse/UGA winner, Clemson and TCU are all in the CFP. Once, there are not 4 undefeated P5 champions, then it starts to get murky.
  5. I'm a curmudgeon. These schools typically say how they don't like violence, yet when one of their players are violent, they do next to nothing. There were more than 4 MSU players stomping on the Michigan player. Only 4 are currently suspended? I have a feeling the 4 players will be suspended a few games and then have other in-house punishment. I know MSU says they are still reviewing, but I feel like they won't add additional players to the suspension. It won't happened, but I'd also make sure the police charge them with assault and battery. I'm tired of the saying boys will be boys.... As mentioned before, how is that both teams use the same tunnel? That is just dumb.
  6. If a school hasn't won a championship, we all tend to think they never will. However, it isn't like UGA is winning titles left and right. They won a championship in 1980. You might remember they had a guy name Hershel Walker on that team. Then they won their 2nd title last year. It was just last year, everybody was talking how UGA can't win a title. A whole lot of things need to go right to win a title. Are the top end teams in the SEC extremely good, absolutely. However, when the majority of the SEC get half of their season win total from playing non-conference games against Miami OH, Youngstown St., N. Illinois, Charlotte, SC State and Georgia States of the world, don't color me impressed. Mississippi St. and Arkansas miss 3 out of the top 4 teams in the SEC East. They have too many teams in the conference and play too few conference games. I have said it before, it is only going to get worse for both SEC and B1G TEN when they go to 16 teams. ACC the same with 15 teams and 8 conference games. There is nowhere to hide in the Pac 12 and Big 12.

  8. Oregon Football: QB Bo Nix splits with Kenny Dillingham and without DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Is Bo Nix’s career year due to the reunion with Kenny Dillingham? We looked at his splits with and without the OC to try and find out.
  9. I feel it biased as a little as well, but when the Pac 12 champion went 12-1, they made the playoffs both times. I have felt the CFP has done a great job picking the 4 teams. It just happens the SEC have had multiple teams only lose 1 game. The media and talking heads don't mention it, but when you have 14 teams and only play 8 conference games it is very easy to have 2 teams go undefeated in conference play and another 2 teams only have 1 loss. When the B1G and SEC go to 16 teams, it will make it even worse. They will have a perceived strength when in reality, they have a schedule quirk. The Big 12 currently make it impossible to have more than 1 undefeated team.
  10. They have mentioned with 12 teams, the top 6 ranked conference champions will get an auto bid. I don't believe a P5 conference champion has ever been ranked below 2 G5 conference champions, so the Pac 12, Big 12 and ACC will never miss out on at least 1 bid. I'm not going to give the SEC and B1G always 3 or 4 teams. Right now the Pac 12 has 3 teams with Oregon #8, USC #10 and UCLA #12. B1G TEN only has #2 and #4 and will not have another top 12 team this year. Big 12 and ACC both have 2 teams in the top 12. Don't forget, there are usually only 1 maybe 2 CFP voters from 1 conference. The rest of the conferences aren't going to just hand over hundreds of millions of dollars to the B1G and SEC.
  11. Oregon Football: Where Oregon defense ranks nationally after UCLA game DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The numbers don’t paint Oregon’s defense as dominant, but the check-mark in the win column is all that matters in the end.
  12. Oregon picked third, Oregon State 12th in Pac-12 men’s basketball preseason media poll WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM UCLA is the heavy favorite to win the Pac-12 championship, though the Bruins were the pick the past two years and failed to win the title
  13. Oregon Football: Where Oregon’s offense ranks after win over UCLA DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks’ offense only continues to get better, and the national rankings are reflecting that.
  14. Why fans of No. 8 Oregon shouldn't float idea of Ducks in CFP WWW.YARDBARKER.COM The No. 8 Oregon Ducks look the part of a potential Pac-12 champion following their 45-30 win over No. 12 UCLA. At 6-1, the Ducks would be among the teams hotly debated in College...
  15. FCS has 24 teams make the playoffs, champions North Dakota State played 16 games. Division 2 has 28 teams make the playoffs, champions Ferris State played 14 games. Division 3 has 32 teams make the playoffs, champions Mary Hardin-Baylor played 15 games. 12 teams is the correct amount because they are throwing the G5 group a bone with giving them an automatic bid. With 8 teams, they aren't only going to give 2 at large teams to P5 schools.
  16. I know 40 million isn't chump change, but I don't want to just survive. I want to thrive. If B1G TEN and SEC essentially are making double the money as everybody else, the ACC, Big 12 and Pac 12 won't really be competing with them in football and basketball for very long. If for some reason it becomes the B1G TEN and SEC in football and basketball, I'm not going to care and won't watch any of those games. Just like I don't want FCS games. I could be in the minority, but if you have apathy in 50% of the country, those conferences will eventually lose TV numbers. In my opinion, it makes sense for the B1G TEN and SEC not to completely leave behind the ACC, Pac 12 or Big 12. Doubling money for eternity will leave everybody behind.
  17. It is nice to know Cam can make the "gimme" FGs, but out of the 8 FGs this season, he only has 3 longer than 30 yards. For his career he is 8-11 from 30-39, and 7-11 from 40-39. I hope this is building up his confidence in himself.
  18. Gold: Bo knows Heisman? 5 reasons Oregon QB Nix is in the mix SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM After a poor Week 1, Oregon QB Bo Nix has played himself into the Heisman race. Can he become the first Ducks to win it since Marcus Mariota in 2014?

  21. Sewell, Flowe and Bassa are 3, 4 and 5 with tackles on the team. We may have had too high expectations for them as a unit.
  22. 0 penalties to 14 should not be possible. That is bad officiating and definitely questionable. The Utah vs USC game was the only game where USC had significantly more penalties than the other team. It was also the only game where USC wasn't clearly the better team. Sorry, USC is still clearly a better team than OSU, even though they only won 17-14. Refs already have a tough time, I don't think any ref wants to get labeled. I don't think either conference refs are punishing teams for leaving.
  23. Just saying, no P5 undefeated team has missed out on the playoffs. I find it silly how just about every prediction has 2 SEC teams and many other saying how the SEC could get in 3 this year. There is way too much football to be played to have a good grasp of who will make it. A whole lot would have to happen, but any P5 team with only 1 loss will get a look depending on what happens with every other team. No shot any undefeated P5 champ is left out. It is straight up stupid for the talking heads to be giving the SEC 3 teams. The CFP has already made it a precedent to have a conference championship mean something. So, the loser of UGA vs Tenn isn't just given a playoff spot if that is their only loss. They will have to hope every other conference champ has 2 losses. The Pac 12, B1G TEN and Big 12 are all too strong this year to leave out a 1 loss champ.
  24. ESPN journalists voting every week their top 10 players for the Heisman. Through eight weeks, here are the overall point totals: 1. C.J. Stroud, Ohio State (29 points) 2. Jalon Daniels, Kansas (24 points) 3T. Bo Nix, Oregon (21 points) 3T. Caleb Williams, USC (21 points) 5. Hendon Hooker, Tennessee (20 points) 6T. Dorian Thompson-Robinson, UCLA (17 points) 6T. 25. It was both not running out of bounds and potentially fighting for a TD.
