  1. Ducks WRs are better than Beavers secondary. If we don't get cute, our O should do well in the 2nd half.
  2. I would find it odd if the B1G TEN media rights required 16 teams to be in the B1G TEN. Why does the B1G TEN have to add another team? The move has only ever worked on paper and for football with only USC and UCLA. If there were 6 west coast teams, it could work for all sports more or less. I supposed the B1G TEN could have hurt feelings, but the TV partners got the LA market with USC or UCLA. They don't really need both.
  3. ESPN FPI: Oregon’s chances to win Pac-12 title jump after Utah game DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks control their own destiny going into Saturday.
  4. I'm not sure what to think yet. Lanning's and Dillingham's aggressiveness is part of who they are as coaches. My personal preference is not to be as aggressive. The UW game definitely solidified the coming back to the mean in success rate. Their aggressiveness/cuteness cost us the game in my opinion. I think the Ducks only need to do two plays different and they win. 1, don't do the onside kick. 2, don't do the swinging gate on 3rd & 1 and fumble at the UW 4-yard line. I'm a fan of analytics, but I'm also not one to only follow analytics. I get the Ducks have had a high success rate on 4th and short, but you have to know the time and place. With a banged up QB, you have to punt your own 33 with less than 90 seconds to go. Nobody is perfect, so unfortunately with their style of coaching we will have to endure coaching mistakes. Hopefully, they truly learn from them.
  5. Two 5 Star LBs aren't the same. Two 4 Star safeties are not the same. Two 3 star DL aren't the same. The Ducks are also on their 3rd defensive coordinator in 3 years. Every defensive coordinator recruited kids for their defense. Sewell and Flowe are downhill LBs there to stop the run. They are absolutely not LBs to cover TEs or RBs. This roster is made up of a hodgepodge of kids for 3 different defensive schemes. Yes, they are highly talented kids, but it is a bit like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I think this defense has underperformed on the season, but I think consistency is going to do wonders for the kids.
  6. I would have to see what other teams are out there, but losses have to matter. I don't think LSU as the SEC champ should be automatically in the CFP. UGA is all that and more, but the SEC is not a juggernaut this season. Alabama hasn't beat a great team, their best wins are against Ole Miss and Mississippi St. LSU beat Alabama, Ole Miss and Miss St. LSU to FSU and got smashed by Tennessee. FSU, at 8-3, had a 3 game losing streak.
  7. I'd compare TCU to FSU in 2014. They do just enough to keep winning. I think they will get smoked in the CFP. Big 12 isn't full of top 10 talent teams, but they aren't ACC either. Any P5 team undefeated at this point in the season is worthy of the CFP.
  8. How much will Oregon Ducks test Utah cornerback Clark Phillips III? WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Phillips entering Saturday night’s game with the No. 12 Ducks with 21 tackles with five interceptions and three pass breakups.
  9. Big Picture: What the future looks like for Oregon Ducks after 2022 DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Will Bo Nix return for one more year? Does Oregon add any more 5-star recruits to the 2023 class? Our big-picture look at the 2022 season going into the final stretch.
  10. What’s new with Utah since Oregon last played the Utes? DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Utah Utes have a very deep and experienced squad, and they’ll look to once again hand the Oregon Ducks a late season loss on Saturday.
  11. Ionescu returns to UO in assistant coaching role WWW.ADDICTEDTOQUACK.COM The "GOAT" joins Kelly Graves’ staff in a part-time capacity
  12. Picking the Pac – College Wire staff makes Week 12 selections | Ducks Wire DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Pac-12 upsets from last week didn’t hurt the CollegeWire Pick the Pac standings too much, but the records took a hit.
  13. That is strictly TV revenue only. Making deep runs into March Madness and football bowl games also contribute big money. B1G TEN have higher paying and 2 more guaranteed bowl games and have more teams make it to March Madness. That money adds up.
  14. No doubt the Ducks pass defense is not great, but the Ducks have been in a shoot out or winning by such a large margin, teams have to throw the ball. That is going to pile up the passing yards. I don't really think the Ducks pass defense was that much better last year than this year. It only appears that way when we were scoring 17 points and teams didn't have to throw the ball to keep up or catch up.
  15. I have always been a more conservative approach guy. Always take the 3 in the first half, especially on the road. Rarely go for it on 4th down on your own half of the field. Dan Lanning and company are not along those same lines. As mentioned above, if I cheer for the successful gambles, I have to take the gambles that missed. The coach is the same, the philosophy is the same, only the outcome is different. The Ducks are very good at 4th down conversions. 4th Down conversion rate. NCAA College Football FBS current team Stats | NCAA.com WWW.NCAA.COM Discover the current NCAA FBS Football leaders in every stats category, as well as historic leaders. We have definitely seen where the Ducks can improve for next year. This is only year 1 for the Duck coaches. Most of the kids are not "their" kids, so they have to make do. I think they have made do really well. After last season, I know I didn't think the Ducks were ever going to be in the CFP conversation. Making the Rose Bowl was my best-case scenario for this year. Year 2, with more of their kids, hopefully we can see improvements in the areas needed. It would be nice if the coaches could flip a switch, but rarely is it as simple as that.
  16. I don't see the Bo Nix staying another year raising his NFL stock significantly higher. Bo is turning 23 in February. That isn't exactly old, but by NFL standards that is really close to middle age. As others have mentioned, our OL will have significant changes. Bo is #2 in CFB with completion rate of 73%. Tied with Drake Maye at 39 TDs for #1 in CFB. I can't think Bo will better those numbers next year. I feel all he could do is drop his NFL stock.
  17. What's new with Washington since Oregon last played the Huskies? DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM A new coach and a new QB. The Huskies are a potentially dangerous team heading into Saturday’s rivalry game against the Ducks
  18. Washington Huskies Opponent Preview: Week 10 - Oregon PACIFICNWSPORTS.COM Saturday, the Washington Huskies travel to Eugene for their biggest game of the year as they take on the 6th-ranked Oregon Ducks.
  19. Oregon has covered each of the last 13 games vs. Washington in which the Ducks were favored, a streak that dates back to 2004.
  20. It will be a great debate if Tennessee and Oregon win out and if they are fighting for 1 spot. Tennessee will have played against LSU, Alabama, UGA and maybe Kentucky ranked in the final CFP. Ducks will have played against UCLA, Utah, the Pac 12 champ game and maybe OSU/UW ranked in the final CFP. Oregon's opponents have played against more P5 schools than Tennessee's opponents. Tennessee had 3 cupcake games, while Oregon only had one. Ducks also finish the season playing a much more difficult schedule than Tennessee. Plus, in the CFP guidelines, they are supposed to take into account a conference championship. Non-conference champions: 2016: tOSU 11-1 Conference champions: Penn St. 11-2, Oklahoma 10-2 2017: Alabama 11-1 Conference champions: tOSU 11-2, USC 11-2 2018: Notre Dame 12-0 Conference champions: tOSU 12-1, Washington 10-3 2020: Notre Dame 10-1 Conference champions: Oklahoma 8-2, Oregon 4-2 2021: UGA 12-1 Conference champions: Baylor 11-2, Utah 10-3, Pitt 11-2 A 1 loss nonconference champion has never beaten out a 1 loss conference champion. 3 weeks left in the regular season and then the conference championship. So, much time for chaos to happen. 21. Gold: Ducks’ brutal final 3 games will tell determine their Playoff fate SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Oregon must deal with a perilous path ahead if it hopes to secure a rare College Football Playoff berth for the Pac-12.
  22. Injury Report: Updated news for Oregon Ducks ahead of game vs UW DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks have a few key pieces with status up in the air as Washington comes to Autzen in a game between two ranked teams.
  23. My rule of thumb is if the majority of players weren't alive when it happened, then it doesn't matter for both college and professional. So, teams get 20 years in college and 35 years in professional sports. Nobody cares what happened earlier. I don't hear anybody talking about Ivy league schools as powerhouse football programs.
  24. I don't think the Rose Bowl understands where they are at with college football. I have never been a fan of the stadium, I think it just short of awful. There are plenty of other bowl games that would be absolutely OK with getting into the CFP rotation. None of them would have 90K seats. 5 have over 70K seats and another 6 with 65K or more. Keep it on the westish coast with Las Vegas 65K or LA SoFi 70K. I like how the Rose Bowl is like 3 hours every 3 years is not asking for much. Well, it is when none of the other bowl games aren't asking for anything. Plus, when they do go to 12 teams, you are likely more often than not to have only the 3rd best B1G TEN and 2nd best Pac 12. Why should a crap matchup be given a prime-time slot? If the Rose Bowl isn't careful, they will be left out.
  25. 5 Huskies Oregon needs to look out for in Northwest rivalry game DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM These five Washington Huskies might be the difference between an Oregon win and a UW upset in Eugene.
