  1. I don't understand the b12 numbers or the ACC numbers. The P12 is not 50% behind on viewership.
  2. My wife is hearing the same thing about it being Spencer Webb. My son has been to the same rock slides. That is nuts.
  3. It doesn't matter that UCLA got their 102.8 million dollar debt because of lack of thought, but that with the move to B1G TEN they will be able to keep all their sports. That is their play. If you force us to stay in the Pac 12, we will have to cut a ton of sports.
  4. Three Oregon Football Players Named to Athlon Sports Preseason All-American Teams - Sports Illustrated Oregon Ducks News, Analysis and More WWW.SI.COM The Ducks deploy one of the most talented rosters in the Pac-12 ahead of next season
  5. I don't think NCAA basketball season overlaps with WNBA. Former Oregon women’s basketball forward Nyara Sabally joins Sacramento State coaching staff WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Sabally will work under coach Mark Campbell, formerly of UO, who announced the addition of the No. 5 pick of last year’s WNBA draft to his staff on Tuesday.
  6. Last season, the Ducks finished 71st in total defense as the unit slipped in the team's final four games. Previewing the Oregon Ducks defense ahead of fall camp WWW.REGISTERGUARD.COM After finishing 71st in total defense a season ago, the Oregon Ducks hope to improve on that side of the ball in 2022.
  7. Unless football recruiters are vastly different than basketball recruiters, then Farrell is a lot of hot air. Look at the recent rankings of former NBA player kids. I don't think a single one is 5 stars. Wade, Pippen, James, O'neal, etc none of them were given 5 stars. Half of them weren't even 4 stars. The last name Manning certainly brought eyes to the kid, but any recruiter that wants to remain legit gives real rankings to talent level. Don't forget the stars do get skewed according to which teams offer scholarships. You get scholarship offer from Alabama and ND you essentially get a 1/2 star boost.
  8. Does Fox/B1G expect USC and UCLA to always play the late games to get in the PST window? 2 teams isn't enough to fill the PST sports window. I think everybody was talking about how much money USC and UCLA are going to get, but not much about scheduling. I'm not sure how interested kids are going to be travelling 2K+ miles up to 15 times a year for some sports. I'm sure there are Olympic programs at USC/UCLA that won't be affected, but I have a feeling some will take a recruiting hit because of all the traveling. It has been mentioned before, College Football is the 2nd most popular sport in the US. I can tell you, if Oregon is left out of whatever the world looks like, I won't be interested. If they go to a big 2, I won't hardly watch. it will be like the MLB for me. I'll maybe watch the finals. College fan bases are way more localized and if you reduce the "it" teams to 32-36 teams, I have a feeling TV ratings will crash. College isn't the NFL.
  9. Three Oregon recruits in the 2022 class came from the state of California. Six came from the state in the 2021 class. Eight came from the state in the 2020 class. Each of the five highest-ranked recruits from the 2019 class (11 total) came from the state. Thirteen came from the Tate in the 2018 class. Monday Rewind: Travel thoughts for USC and UCLA, Dante Moore to Oregon, and Wazzu stock SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM How does three straight weeks of hotels and road games sound for UCLA basketball? And what does Dante Moore's commitment to Oregon say about Dan Lanning?
  10. At this point it has become fairly clear that if there is one member of that unprecedented recruiting class that can step into that role, it is junior guard Te-Hina Paopao. WBB: it’s Paopao’s time to shine WWW.ADDICTEDTOQUACK.COM Women’s basketball underperformed in 2022, and it needs a floor general.
  11. Unfortunately, that world no longer exists. NCAA/University Presidents better figure something out. You take away the money maker for most college sport programs and then you no longer have college sports. My 2 cents. Everybody should go back to their conferences for all sports, except football. Some how make 4 FBS conferences for football, 12-16 teams each. Total restructure to put teams regionally together again. You would still need to cut some teams and move them to group of 5 status. All 4 conferences have the same TV deal. The Kansas' of the world wouldn't like it. However, I'm guessing if Kansas was in the next tier down, their fan base would enough winning seasons again. I know it is not going to happen, but the federal government may need to get involved to keep Title 9 compliant.
  12. The SEC is only done because the schools they want are in the ACC and don't want to pay 50 mil per to get them out of the TV contract. I'm guessing the ACC members are going to as a whole want out of that terrible TV contract. I can't believe they signed for so long. When Clemson, UNC, Miami and whomever else in the ACC are on the market, SEC will take them.
  13. College Conference Expansion, Realignment Scenarios. What Will Happen? COLLEGEFOOTBALLNEWS.COM College Conference Expansion, Realignment Scenarios. What Each League Should Do, What Will Happen?
  14. On Saturday she won the skills competition, becoming the first Liberty player to ever win the event. Sabrina Ionescu shines at her 1st WNBA All-Star weekend WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM For the former Oregon Ducks star, All-Star weekend is a tangible point along a long journey to finding her place in the pros.
  15. A moment I’ll never forget: As UCLA sprints onto the field in Corvallis in 1999, a fan in the north end zone bellows for everyone around him, including a kid from the coast attending his first game, to hear: “They think they’ve already won because they have those blue and gold uniforms on.” Bill Oram: What it means to be a sports fan in Oregon amid unprecedented upheaval WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Sports in our state are forever changed.
  16. Trying to tie anything to George and the P12 is silly. We didn't know it publicly, but the P12 was sinking. USC and UCLA were already disgruntled. Even if their sport teams didn't perform great, they were always the prom king and queen of the P12. Honestly, what could have George done in his short amount of time? Do you think other P12 schools would have given up TV money to keep them happy? Equal pay is nice an all, but when you are the biggest market, you need to be treated as such.
  17. Now we wait 5 months for him to actually sign with him.
  18. Oregon Ducks get commitment from QB Dante Moore, No. 8 college football recruit for 2023 WWW.ESPN.COM QB Dante Moore, who is the No. 8 overall recruit in the 2023 ESPN 300 and the No. 3 pocket-passer, has committed to play for Oregon and new coach Dan Lanning, he told ESPN.
  19. I understand the historical sense of Notre Dame Football, but since 2000, meh. Since, 2000 they have not won a significant bowl game. They have played in the Fiesta bowl 2000, crushed by the Beavers, lost in the 2005 Fiesta bowl, lost in the 2006 Sugar bowl, lost in the 2012 BCS championship game, lost in the 2015 Fiesta bowl, lost in 2020 semi final, lost in 2021 Fiesta bowl. 0-7 in major bowl games. They have won double digit games 9 times. Their TV numbers average about 2.9 mil in that time frame. Not spectacular. Seems like Oregon should go independent in football and stay in the Pac 12 for all other sports. 5-4 in major bowl games, since 2000, with losses in 2010 BCS championship game and 2014 title game. Our TV numbers aren't quite the same as ND, but they are at 2.31 mil.
  20. SEC may be talking to those schools, but the talks can't be serious, unless the SEC is willing to pony up 200 mil for the exit fees of those 4 schools. When you are talking about billions, those 4 schools could come to an agreement with the SEC. The SEC puts up the 50 mil each for the buyout and then those 4 schools take a pay cut for a few years to pay back the 50 mil. If those 4 schools were to join the SEC, then that puts the SEC at 20 schools. B1G TEN with the addition of USC and UCLA are at 16. If those talks are serious about those 4 schools, I would think the B1G TEN would need to add 4 more schools to get to 20.
  21. If "college" football breaks away from the NCAA, it would nearly kill all college sports. Most college athletic departments operate at a loss, remove the program that pays for 90%(?) of all other sports and very few universities will have those sports. We already saw with COVID many universities try and cut sports. If football is no longer part of the NCAA, it would seem Title 9 wouldn't apply. However, states still do partially fund universities, so that is a big stick states could use to keep football part of the NCAA.
  22. We'd have to merge with the ACC to get them out of their TV deal. I suppose we could do that, but I'm not sure we would do that. I'll feel bad for OSU, but we better not be married to have to taking OSU with us where ever we land. I know I'm terrible, but we are at the point of everybody is out for themselves.
  23. Not really related, but: UCLA’s athletic department had amassed a $102.8 million debt over the last three fiscal years. Maybe, if UCLA had let fans watch games in 2021, they wouldn't have been so in debt.
  24. ND TV deal is through 2025. It currently is for 15 mil a year. That is the lowest out of any P5 conference school. Being independent is not cost effective. It looks like ND gets about 1/3 the amount of money as other ACC teams for the rest of their money. They made 10.8 mil from the ACC in 2021. So, 25 mil. Still not keeping up with the rest of the P5 conferences. However, their TV deal with NBC did start in 1991, so 15 mil was crazy high at the time. It will be interesting to see what NBC is willing to offer this time around.
