  1. A video surfaced on social media this week that appeared to show a Texas A&M staffer trying to sell — literally — recruits on playing for the Aggies. While showing the prospective players around Kyle Field, the staffer pointed to the luxury suites and said “Y’all getting a lot of money from the people behind these suites if you decide to come play here.” Texas A&M staffer caught on video talking about boosters paying recruits LARRYBROWNSPORTS.COM A video surfaced that showed a Texas A&M staffer telling prospective recruits that they would be paid by boosters sitting in luxury suites
  2. 3 out of 5 make sense to me. Big Ten Expansion Top 5 Candidates: Possible Schools To Join USC, UCLA COLLEGEFOOTBALLNEWS.COM Top 5 schools the Big Ten might go after now that it grabbed USC and UCLA?
  3. When the Trojans and Bruins join the Big Ten, the Power Five will become a Power Two. The Pac-12 is on life support, and Larry Scott put it there SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM With USC and UCLA planning to leave the Pac-12 in 2024, the tenure of Larry Scott is creating one last headache.
  4. “First off, Thank you to the entire staff at Oregon for allowing me to perform under a winning culture,” Britton wrote. “I’d like to give a huge thanks to my family, friends, and fellow teammates for being alongside and supporting me through this journey. I am beyond excited to be joining the pack!” https://www.dailyemerald.com/sports/oregon-left-handed-pitcher-rio-britton-transfers-to-nc-state/article_734d34a2-f8a9-11ec-a86d-672f84a7c7d0.html
  5. Class of 2023 long snapper Nick Duzansky has verbally committed to the University of Oregon, he announced on Twitter Thursday. The highly ranked, 6-foot-4 and 190-pound recruit is “100% committed.” https://www.dailyemerald.com/sports/ducks-snag-class-of-2023-long-snapper-nick-duzansky/article_600a993c-f8ab-11ec-a659-e7e37a7f51f3.html
  6. The travel time is going to be bad for the students, but we are talking peanuts when you talk about travel costs. B1G TEN schools were going to start receiving 30+ mil more than the pac 12. Traveling costs will be a few hundred thousand more a year? Let's even go traveling costs will be 2 million more a year, the schools will still be profiting an addtional 28 mil a year. Actual travel costs is a non factor. Travel for students should be a factor, but the schools don't care.
  7. Ugh, no idea who's idea it was, but the Pac 12 has no exit fee. They only hold media rights through 2024. So, USC and UCLA didn't have to give any notice, they could have just walked. Although, I'm not sure when they are going to be in discussions with their new TV, so USC/UCLA just couldn't be like I'm not signing it without some awkwardness. Only ACC and Big 12 have exit fees at the moment.
  8. Were is Bill? He needs to shame UCLA about sticking with the conference of Champions.
  9. Yeah, when you don't have revenue sharing, everybody goes their own way. USC/UCLA leaving would absolutely cripple the Pac 12, but wouldn't kill it. However, UO and UW leaving would kill it. I'd like to pick and choose schools for merging, but I feel like OSU/UO and WSU/UW are joined at the hip.
  10. Oregon has the Portland TV market, so to say we don't have a TV market is a little premature. Seattle is 12 and Portland is 21. San Fran is #6 TV market. The funny thing about USC/UCLA is how marginal their TV numbers are, even though they are in LA. Nearly 6 million people is a lot, but just about every major league sport and college sport has always mentioned just how band wagon those schools/LA is.
  11. I can't find anything about the Pac 12 exit fee. I don't believe even if given a long enough warning a team can just exit the Pac 12. If I remember correctly, it is something like 18 months and 25 mil exit fee at the cheapest.
  12. 5-star QB Dante Moore — a top Oregon Ducks prospect — is turning some heads. Oregon Recruiting: 5-star QB Dante Moore turns heads at Elite 11 camp DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM 5-star QB Dante Moore — arguably the top Oregon prospect — is turning some heads at the Elite 11 camp. Check out these highlights.
  13. I guess OSU will always have the excuse of they are in Corvallis, but this is year 5 for Jonathan Smith. No excuses. Year / record / conf record / Total offense in P12 / Total defense in P12 / defense scoring average Year 1: 2-10 (1-8) #6 / #12 / #12 Year 2: 5-7 (4-5) #6 / #9 / #10 Year 3: 2-5 (2-5) #8 / #10 / #10 Year 4: 7-6 (5-4) #4 / #9 / #7 Way too much talk of what Jonathan is building at OSU, when looking at the stats and records, it is below average. I'm not scared of that. He has slightly improved OSU, but not enough to impress me. Who knows, maybe he will impress me this year.
  14. All these schools/boosters paying millions to get kids to go to their school will start getting very angry that their team is still going 9-3 or 10-2 and playing in a bad bowl game. Teams have to be willing to spend some money, but going all New York Yankees and not winning anything isn't going to sit well with boosters paying the big bucks. Mario and Jimbo are very good recruiters/coaches, but I'm not sure money will buy them championships. I think Jimbo got lightning in a bottle in 2013 and 2014 and has been very good, but not great before and after. It is really hard to win a championship.
  15. Ducks have 3 of the top 15 in these rankings. A couple of other schools have 2 to make the list. Ranking the Pac-12 Offensive Linemen for 2022 WWW.WESTCOASTCFB.COM Jaxson Kirkland returns to Washington hoping to pave the way back to a Bowl Game.
  16. Riley brought DC Grinch with him from Oklahoma, where he’d been the coordinator for the last three seasons. Grinch provokes quite a bit of controversy in the advanced stats community. I count myself a skeptic, since he only has two spikes into the top 25 in F+ rankings – in 2017 when, as I wrote about last week, he enjoyed extraordinary turnover luck, and in 2020 which is a season that will always have an asterisk in the record books. 17. Hard pass on adding Big 12 teams. Pac 12 would never add WVU and adding TTU and OK St. only brings in the 6th and 7th largest fan base in the Pac 12. TCU, Baylor and Houston are non factors when it comes to TV contracts. They may reside in large cities, but those cities don't care about the team. Fanbase_Sizes-DRAFTv1.pdf - Google Drive DRIVE.GOOGLE.COM Big 12 Pac 12 Oregon 5.54 Mil USC 4.46 M Wash 2.46 M UCLA 2.35 M ASU 1.95 M WVU 1.84 Mil TTU 1.65 Mil OK ST 1.42 Mil Cal 1.14 M Utah 1.09 M Arizona 1.04 M BYU 1.03 Mil Colorado .95 M KSU .90 Mil KU .90 Mil Stanford .89 M WSU .85 M ISU .81 Mil TCU .80 Mil OSU .79 M UCF .78 Mil Bay .57 Mil Hou .47 Mil CIN .39 Mil
  18. Hmm, interesting. Click the other link in the article to get a complete break down of all the fan bases. Big 12's new teams have 3 of the 4 smallest fan bases in the Big 12. TCU and Baylor would have done absolutely nothing for the Pac 12. They have the same fan base as OSU as the lowest in the Pac 12 or lower. TTU and Oklahoma St. would have the 6th and 7th largest fan base in the Pac 12. A lot of people have repeatedly said expanding and taking some of the Big 12 was the way to go. The fan base size says the complete opposite. On average the Big 12, with the new alignment, will have half the average of the Pac 12. TV people are going to see that and they are going to have a terrible TV contract. Pac 12 dodged a bullet by not bringing on Big 12 teams.
  19. Funny thing, the NFL finally learned to cap rookie salaries. They figured out, most don't earn them and were wasting money. This Jaden kid could be a Heisman trophy winner, but he ain't worth 9.5 mil per year in college. It is part of the land scape, but I have a feeling a ton of these deals are going to have buyers remorse. Plus, supposedly none of them are tied to the kid going to the school, so if the kid leaves he still gets paid. I'm assuming the companies are smart enough to make the contracts year by year, but who knows.
  20. Reactions from this weekend. Oregon Football: Social media posts from Ducks’ star-studded weekend DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM It’s safe to say that by the looks of it, the prospects in Eugene seem to be having a good time on their recruiting visits this weekend.
