  1. College Conference Expansion, Realignment Scenarios. What Will Happen? COLLEGEFOOTBALLNEWS.COM College Conference Expansion, Realignment Scenarios. What Each League Should Do, What Will Happen?
  2. On Saturday she won the skills competition, becoming the first Liberty player to ever win the event. Sabrina Ionescu shines at her 1st WNBA All-Star weekend WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM For the former Oregon Ducks star, All-Star weekend is a tangible point along a long journey to finding her place in the pros.
  3. A moment I’ll never forget: As UCLA sprints onto the field in Corvallis in 1999, a fan in the north end zone bellows for everyone around him, including a kid from the coast attending his first game, to hear: “They think they’ve already won because they have those blue and gold uniforms on.” Bill Oram: What it means to be a sports fan in Oregon amid unprecedented upheaval WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Sports in our state are forever changed.
  4. Trying to tie anything to George and the P12 is silly. We didn't know it publicly, but the P12 was sinking. USC and UCLA were already disgruntled. Even if their sport teams didn't perform great, they were always the prom king and queen of the P12. Honestly, what could have George done in his short amount of time? Do you think other P12 schools would have given up TV money to keep them happy? Equal pay is nice an all, but when you are the biggest market, you need to be treated as such.
  5. Now we wait 5 months for him to actually sign with him.
  6. Oregon Ducks get commitment from QB Dante Moore, No. 8 college football recruit for 2023 WWW.ESPN.COM QB Dante Moore, who is the No. 8 overall recruit in the 2023 ESPN 300 and the No. 3 pocket-passer, has committed to play for Oregon and new coach Dan Lanning, he told ESPN.
  7. I understand the historical sense of Notre Dame Football, but since 2000, meh. Since, 2000 they have not won a significant bowl game. They have played in the Fiesta bowl 2000, crushed by the Beavers, lost in the 2005 Fiesta bowl, lost in the 2006 Sugar bowl, lost in the 2012 BCS championship game, lost in the 2015 Fiesta bowl, lost in 2020 semi final, lost in 2021 Fiesta bowl. 0-7 in major bowl games. They have won double digit games 9 times. Their TV numbers average about 2.9 mil in that time frame. Not spectacular. Seems like Oregon should go independent in football and stay in the Pac 12 for all other sports. 5-4 in major bowl games, since 2000, with losses in 2010 BCS championship game and 2014 title game. Our TV numbers aren't quite the same as ND, but they are at 2.31 mil.
  8. SEC may be talking to those schools, but the talks can't be serious, unless the SEC is willing to pony up 200 mil for the exit fees of those 4 schools. When you are talking about billions, those 4 schools could come to an agreement with the SEC. The SEC puts up the 50 mil each for the buyout and then those 4 schools take a pay cut for a few years to pay back the 50 mil. If those 4 schools were to join the SEC, then that puts the SEC at 20 schools. B1G TEN with the addition of USC and UCLA are at 16. If those talks are serious about those 4 schools, I would think the B1G TEN would need to add 4 more schools to get to 20.
  9. If "college" football breaks away from the NCAA, it would nearly kill all college sports. Most college athletic departments operate at a loss, remove the program that pays for 90%(?) of all other sports and very few universities will have those sports. We already saw with COVID many universities try and cut sports. If football is no longer part of the NCAA, it would seem Title 9 wouldn't apply. However, states still do partially fund universities, so that is a big stick states could use to keep football part of the NCAA.
  10. We'd have to merge with the ACC to get them out of their TV deal. I suppose we could do that, but I'm not sure we would do that. I'll feel bad for OSU, but we better not be married to have to taking OSU with us where ever we land. I know I'm terrible, but we are at the point of everybody is out for themselves.
  11. Not really related, but: UCLA’s athletic department had amassed a $102.8 million debt over the last three fiscal years. Maybe, if UCLA had let fans watch games in 2021, they wouldn't have been so in debt.
  12. ND TV deal is through 2025. It currently is for 15 mil a year. That is the lowest out of any P5 conference school. Being independent is not cost effective. It looks like ND gets about 1/3 the amount of money as other ACC teams for the rest of their money. They made 10.8 mil from the ACC in 2021. So, 25 mil. Still not keeping up with the rest of the P5 conferences. However, their TV deal with NBC did start in 1991, so 15 mil was crazy high at the time. It will be interesting to see what NBC is willing to offer this time around.
  13. Oregon has moved from one elite recruiting staff to another in the eyes of 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong. When Dan Lanning was hired to replace Mario Cristobal in December, he went hunting for recruiting heavy hitters. Per Wiltfong, he's achieved just that. Wiltfong raves about recruiting chops of Oregon's new staff 247SPORTS.COM Wiltfong raves about recruiting chops of Oregon's new staff
  14. I think ND can be OK in the 10-20 year range, but their fan base seems to be in their 60's plus. Once, those people are no longer around, I think ND is going to be hard pressed to pull in the TV numbers.
  15. B1G TEN and SEC will be making 30-50 mil more than p12, b12 and ACC. Travel expenses are NOT a factor for Olympic sports.
  16. What isn't mentioned, the Pac 12 owns the Rose Bowl rights. I'm not sure if those end in 2024 or move with UCLA?
  17. Everybody is giving lip service and saying the right things. If we don't think every Pac 12 AD/President aren't talking to SEC, B1G TEN or B12, we have our had in the sand. Everybody is looking for their own life raft.
  18. Nobody knew OKlahoma and Texas were moving until it was a done deal. People can be secretive, when they really want to be.
  19. It is odd that they want to hear from ND, but ND is forced to join the ACC if they want their football team to join a conference or they have to pay the 50 mil exit fee. I can't believe the ACC has a TV contract until 2036. That was absurd.
  20. USC and UCLA are in for 2 more years. If Oregon goes undefeated the next 2 years, they will be in the playoffs. It is 2024, where it gets dicey. However, Cincy did it, Pac 10 is better than AAC.
  21. A video surfaced on social media this week that appeared to show a Texas A&M staffer trying to sell — literally — recruits on playing for the Aggies. While showing the prospective players around Kyle Field, the staffer pointed to the luxury suites and said “Y’all getting a lot of money from the people behind these suites if you decide to come play here.” Texas A&M staffer caught on video talking about boosters paying recruits LARRYBROWNSPORTS.COM A video surfaced that showed a Texas A&M staffer telling prospective recruits that they would be paid by boosters sitting in luxury suites
  22. 3 out of 5 make sense to me. Big Ten Expansion Top 5 Candidates: Possible Schools To Join USC, UCLA COLLEGEFOOTBALLNEWS.COM Top 5 schools the Big Ten might go after now that it grabbed USC and UCLA?
  23. When the Trojans and Bruins join the Big Ten, the Power Five will become a Power Two. The Pac-12 is on life support, and Larry Scott put it there SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM With USC and UCLA planning to leave the Pac-12 in 2024, the tenure of Larry Scott is creating one last headache.
