Or to put it another way, “Mr. Cristobal’s system came far closer to gaining the conference 6 million and getting his team into the playoffs than did any other coach in the conference.”
-
I agree Charles that most are not thinking that. But there are a vocal few that seem to be saying precisely that they want him gone. With that kind of attitude/thinking, Rich Brooks not Mile Bellotti would never have gotten Oregon to a Rose Bowl. It is too easy to forget that this is a game. Played by kids. On any given day, Murphy’s law can and will rear its ugly head. Often times, the best team does not win. IMHO, it just seems way too early to be calling for MC’s head.

I’m pretty sure there are at least 9 in the PAC 12 and well over 2/3 of existing coaches nationwide that coach worse than MC.

Playing Oregon State in Prime Time...
PittDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I have to confess, I have had doubts about the Ducks beating the Beavs since I watched the Beavs run the University of Spoiled Children into the ground. I am not feeling any better now after watching what Utah (who lost to the Beavers) did to us last night. The Ducks are going to have to shake off last night and play to their potential in order to win this next game, -
About the only thing I can think of that would kill my enthusiasm for Duck football would be firing a head coach for going 9-3. That would simply disgust me. What coach in their right mind would even want to work for a program that would do that.

Not only is the game formerly known as the civil war being played for state supremacy this year, the PAC 12 North championship goes with the Platypus this year! Can OBD bounce back and claim the title of King of the North? Do they have 3 more victories in them? And if they do take the north, can they beat the Utes in Las Vegas? The Salt Lake Shellacking could be the dagger that ends the 2021 campaign, or it could be the wake up call needed to take it to the next level. We shall see next weekend. Win, and the Rose Bowl is still on the table. Lose, and what, Sun Bowl? Just askin questions of my fellow FDF followers…

Utah GameDay Thread: Is Pursuing the Playoffs a Crock?
PittDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
CFP is out. Will we be in the top 15 tomorrow? Can we beat these guys in 2 weeks? Are we looking at the Fiesta Bowl? Oh the anguish! -
In reality, we have been over rated since the win in the shoe. Not that we are happy about this, but Most of us felt this was a 9-3 team back in August. still, it makes us feel like…

While I like our uniforms this week I gotta admit that Utah’s Battleship Grey is a cut above any of the grey’s the Ducks have ever worn.

I wonder if we will do any better against them in the PAC 12 championship game? our defense simply cannot stop them. -

Yes Charles, the CFP is a crock. At best it is an Invitational Tournament where the invitations are determined by a ”neutral” group of people (who are heavily influenced by ESPN and other media sources) who chose four of the most qualified 6 or so candidates. A true playoff would pit the conference 5 power winners (who all play 9 conference cases and 3 non conference) plus the three best records from the rest into an 8 team, single elimination playoff. That would make playing for and winning each conference championship meaningful, while eliminating the need for a “playoff committee” to make or break the season for a few teams each year. Crock is the correct word! That said, Go Ducks!!! -
Utah Game-Score Prediction Contest!

I hope you are wrong too SWDuck, but I can’t help think that such an outcome would sure make the ESPN honks happy. -
Utah Game-Score Prediction Contest!
PittDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The game I am wanting to see has Oregon winning 35-24, 3TO (2 picks and a strip), 3 sacks, 180 passing yards and 300 rushing yards (two 100 yard rushers)! KT and NS come uncorked and both have banner games! -
That is what I am going to be rooting for 30Duck! A good old fashioned stomping! A tOSU loss to Sparty would also be a nice development!

And built to stay that way!

Quarterback Russian Roulette With Anthony Brown
PittDuck replied to Notalot's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It helps when your QB is 6’ 3”, 226 lbs and runs like a FB! While somewhat short-sighted to not give TT and JB some quality game reps, I think either will do fine if thrust into service. Great GIF Charles, LOL!- 21 replies

Way to go JustDucky! -
I too thought he scored before he was stripped. From Canzano’s article the Pac-12 Network ... uses high-quality equipment, production trucks and refuses to cut corners and go on the cheap when it comes to the quality of the picture you get on your screen. Part of that is the state-of-the-art technology and high-speed infrastructure the network shares with its 12 member universities. ESPN cheaped out and went with the minimum number of cameras, and the announcers knew it. I don’t know if PAC 12 cameras were even there. ESPN wouldn’t heave looked at their footage anyway, but PAC 12 refs should have.

If the Ducks don’t win tonight? We will cuss, and growl, some will say things on OBD that some with quit watching or jump off the bandwagon. Some will call for the coaches’ heads, others will simply suck it up and hope they keep getting better. The Ducks will probable drop 10 or 12 spots in the polls. They will no longer be a one loss team, and will be out of the playoff discussion. As for the Ducks and their coaches, they will get to work preparing for Utah. Life will go on. I think…

See/Hear Cristobal Give an Official Offer to a Recruit
PittDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon has some intangibles coaches don’t often have to back them up. Successful FB, MBB, WBB, BB, SB, golf, Track & Field, volleyball, gymnastics. The Athletic Department that supports all these sports and these students. Autzen, Heyward Field, MK Arena, Jane Sanders Stadium, to the proposed covered practice fields, the list just just keeps going! I would think those kind of intangibles make it more palatable to accepting less $$ in the paycheck. -
Excellent topic and insightful comments. Many of my thoughts were taken and many of my points were made. Collectively, you guys are awesome! Go Ducks! We have a team worthy of greatness at a University capable of helping those young men be the best they can be. They are led by a man with the right attitude, the right work ethics, and a belief he can help lead them to greatness. The 2021 version of the Ducks are not quite like any Duck team I’v seen in a while. The games are exiting, scary, exhilarating, and terrifying at the same time. Last week was the first week I felt like we were in good shape. We were down 3-9 at that point. Most weeks I am tied up in knots be the end. But the reality of it is, we have a bunch of 3, 4, and 5 star athletes in an environment like Oregon offers with a attitude like MC is building, I think good things have begun, and will continue to happen for the foreseeable future. What a time to be a Duck fan!

Oregon 34-20, 2, 3, and 85. With about 300 yards rushing. KT goes on a tear! Go Ducks!
