I wonder if people under 40 are puzzled about what all the eternal USC chatter is about. They haven't seen much actually happen while they've been old enough to pay attention. I'm not saying USC can't be good, but just wake me up when it actually happens.

I would like to push back on the notion that everything now is "all about the benjamins". Money is not the only thing of importance in life to a lot of people, maybe even most people, IMHO. Besides, there will be only so much NIL money in the world, and only many schools that will have it. Oregon is likely to be one. Not every D1 player can fit on the roster of those rich schools. So, those other players are going to have to go somewhere. The rich schools will still be the rich schools, and the others will still have to rely on education, geography, loyalty, and charismatic coaches. I think the landscape may look much the same as it does now, just with higher price tags. Right now, it's the wild west, but some sort of order is going to come out of this in a year or two. Or, the game may be done.

I sure hope this is still true, and that it will once again become a reality.
