  1. Fan fiction for May, with zero evidence.
  2. Totally disagree. As long as uniform design, with off-brand colors, is a major cool factor that attracts players and fans, why mess with it? And FWIW, I like the black, grey and white combos.
  3. Eagle Jaguar E-Type Low-Drag Coupe has to be the winner.
  4. Gotta agree with that! There will be rough spots and weaknesses in this year's team, but from what we've seen so far, the errors will be errors of commission, rather errors of omission, as they're been the last few years.
  5. Notre Dame's AD says D1 athletics are headed for a split: ...the fracture lines within the 130-member FBS could leave two disparate approaches: schools that still operate athletics within a traditional educational structure, and those who tie sports to the university in name only. “There’s always been sort of a spectrum—and I want to stress that everything along the spectrum is valid; it’s not a criticism,” Swarbrick said. “On one end of the spectrum, you license the school name and run an independent business that’s engaged in sports. The other end of the spectrum, you’re integrated into the university in terms of decision making and requirements, and some follow that. A brave new world.
  6. I thought it was illegal for a QB to line up under center. 🙂
  7. They're going to remember those sentences, aren't they? Results!
  8. That is really searching hard for a grievance. But, when you always think everything is about you, I guess it comes naturally.
  9. Maybe next seen in the portal, for better or for worse.
  10. Well, Husky football is comparable in quality, and prowess, to Starbucks coffee.
  11. Recommended reading for fans of the team that lost to Montana: Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds by Charles Mackay, first published in 1871.
  12. They're way more rational and honest than fans of that team that lost to Montana. But, that's a low bar.
  13. Stork has one foot in the portal.
  14. UW was killing it in men's 8-oared shells back in the 1920s. Nothing much has happened since then, I believe. Maybe the bow down thing is just really a description of how one of the shells sank.
  15. I think the obvious solution to this problem is to have a 12-month football season every year.
  16. If...if...student-athletes are legally employees, then I don't see how anything can stop unlimited NIL money. Restraint of trade laws would apply, or something like them, right? Not to say everyone, or even most people, would want this situation. But, all it would take is one athlete, or parent, or booster, or university to test the limits and get a favorable court ruling. But, if student-athletes are not employees, then limits and rules could be applied. But by what organization? Does the NCAA really exist anymore?
  17. Journalism of all kinds, but mostly local, still has not found a revenue model to replace advertising.
  18. Gotta think that if they offered a scholarship to a player with 3 years of eligibility left, they believe he has some talent.
  19. Promise less, deliver more is never a bad strategy. But, it could also simply be a statement that there's always room for improvement, which is also a good way to look at things.
  20. This is why Oregon is winning the brand-building contest. I mean, how good is this, with the caption "goin' up?".
  21. Maybe this is just the way recruiting rolls with Mr. Lanning at the helm. 😛
  22. The 4* DL is coming to visit this weekend So, that makes the visitor list pretty impressive: Josh Conerly Lebbeus Overton Jayden Wayne Matayo Uiagalelei Riley Williams Mitchell Agude Four-Star DL Jayden Wayne Set to Visit Oregon WWW.ON3.COM Add another elite defensive lineman to the list. Lincoln (Wash.) star Jayden Wayne will visit Oregon this weekend.
  23. Canzano, clearly a smart guy and a quite good writer, was never in the news business. He was an opinion columnist. As such, he had no real allegiance to the facts, but just to his own opinion. I think he early on figured out the click-bait nature of modern "journalism" and played to maximizing the eyeballs. There are a million people offering their opinions on sports; he was one of the better ones, but I won't miss him. I can hear opinions on sports from any barstool.
  24. More significantly, both Josh Conerly and Lebbeus Overton (plus his brother) will be in Eugene this weekend. Open wide the Overton window!
