  1. We need the tail numbers of Kilkenny's and Knight's jets; track 'em and see if anybody is taking a midnight plane to Georgia.
  2. Would think there's a whole lot of learning to do, going from a coordinator position to that of a head coach. You now run the entire program; you hire, fire and supervise a lot of people; you deal with boosters; you set the priorities; you work with the administration; you appear a lot in public; you take on a ton of responsibility. Plus, a whole lot more. Having HC experience at the D1 level would be preferable, as there would be an existing track record of how a candidate has handled all these things. People rise to new levels of responsibility all the time, but there's a lot more to being a HC than calling the plays on Saturdays.
  3. Skepticism is the order of the day.
  4. According to a Crepea "source", no one has been offered the job as of Friday afternoon.
  5. He is a candidate, but..."...his reported hiring is premature, at best..." There appears to be at least some smoke here.
  6. If you want to parse Matt Prehm's tweet, you could note that he says, "The report of Dan Lanning being hired today...". One could interpret that as meaning Dan Lanning is being hired, just not today. Or, maybe Prehm meant to put the "today" after "report", changing the meaning to Lanning not being hired. Personally, I think it's going to be Woody Hayes.
  7. It seems as if the St. Petersburg troll factory is seeking to sow disinformation on the Oregon head coaching search. Don't they have anything worse to do?
  8. Well, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution would be considered a reliable source.
  9. Everyone agrees that "the right hire" is the most important thing. The problem is that we all seem to disagree on who the right hire is.
  10. As a naysayer, I say nay to Chip. He revolutionized the game of football at Oregon and deserves everyone's thanks and respect. Since then, not much has happened to recommend him for the job. I say it's an attempt to reverse the clock, and climb into a warm bath of nostalgia.
  11. My sources (the voices in my head) are confirming that I have no idea who is going to be hired. You can book it!
  12. Wilson's recruiting is going to be missed. Look at the linebackers he brought in.
  13. Thanks, David, good story. And, here's a quaint concern: how many class credits will transfer from school to school? It seems like the transfer portal could knock back a player's degree progress. But, maybe no one cares. It really is minor league pro football with a fig leaf of education.
  14. But, McClendon is interim head coach. Interesting.
  15. If he doesn't, my head will explode.
  16. Why not Coach Eric Taylor, played by Kyle Chandler, from Dillon High School in Friday Night Lights? Guy can flat-out coach on television.
  17. Why, if that isn't a gif of Valtteri Bottas.
  18. All the crystal balls on Portland-area, 4-star WR Darrius Clemons have switched from Oregon to Auburn.
  19. My guess is that there is an unofficial norm for situation; courtesy, maintaining good relations, etc. You let the other guy know. ADs at this level are a select few who probably want to remain collegial. Sounds as if Miami is challenged in this respect considering how they treated Diaz. I can believe Mullens. It’s not like he has ESPN or something.
  20. Can he hire a Chief Recruiting Officer?
  21. That is a leader, right there.
  22. I hate to agree with Canzano, but I think he has nailed it.
  23. Yeah, if the past is the best predictor of the future (not always a good bet), Miami may be in for some rough times. Mario's won/lost record is not great. I'm curious what people think of his prospects for success. Or, maybe it's time to stop thinking about Mario completely.
  24. "My phone is blowing up." Maybe he just has one of those old Samsung Galaxy Note 7s.
  25. As a wise poster here said in another thread, "If Wilcox were not an Oregon alum, would anybody be looking at him?".
