Lanning Press Conference: I am STILL STEWING...Are YOU?
Why stew? This isn't Watergate or a 60 Minutes corruption investigation, it's a press conference introducing a new football coach. It's not like there are deep, dark secrets that need to be ferreted out and revealed, or hypocrisies to be exposed, or vital information to be unearthed. Besides, as we see in politics, press conferences are for mostly for show. Hard questions are never really answered, deflection and diversion are the orders of the day for anything uncomfortable. Real reporting covers what is done, not what is said. All will be revealed in time.

Tosh Lupoi To Oregon?
Maybe. Remember when he had his Cal players fake injuries to slow down the Ducks?

Ducks Former Oregon Ducks who Sent Letter
Why would something else be going on? You would interview for the job to get a feel for the situation and the offer; it's your alma mater and big money is in the room. Who wouldn't interview if remotely interested? Then, you decide it's not for you, for whatever reasons, personal and/or professional. People turn down job offers all the time.

Ducks Former Oregon Ducks who Sent Letter
The piece is clearly a swipe at Canzano by Crepea. The click-bait columnist getting his comeuppance from an actual reporter who is more concerned with context and accuracy than eyeballs.

Analysis: Is Dan Lanning an Upgrade from Mario Cristobal?
I just have to give props to the Photoshop work that got Lanning in a Ducks' shirt for the site background. It's really well done.

Bizarre: Former Players Wanted Justin Wilcox Hired
Canzano is a professional pot-stirrer and click-baiter who is sometimes right, but who would rather be wrong than be ignored.

Leach Says it's "Selfish" for Players to Opt out of Bowl Games
Re-watching Friday Night Lights on Netflix; I forgot about the episode where Mike Leach (yes, really) appears as a crazy man at a gas station who rambles on about Coach Taylor needing to figure out how to swing his pirate sword. Leach does a convincing portrayal of a crazy man.

Thank you Justin
Wait a minute...the latest received wisdom is that every coach is waiting for nothing more than a return to his alma mater. Wilcox has disrupted the narrative!

The Big Question: Who's Going to Make the Offense go at Oregon?
Today "reports are suggesting" and "sources are saying" that Lanning (who is 35) is after Kenny Dillingham, the OC at Florida State for his OC. Dillingham is all of 31, which is not a lot older, really, than Anthony Brown. This could be the equivalent of "my buddy who knows a guy at work whose cousin says", but if it pans out, the Ducks could be a new-school, youth movement leader among coaches. There's something exciting about that, to me.

Grade the Dan Lanning Hire…
Can I get an extension and post my grade in a couple of years?

What is THAT SOUND Coming from Seattle, Corvallis and Los Angeles?
"We're a forward-looking operation". My favorite Chip quote of all time. Now, Oregon is again forward looking, for better or worse. Bold hire, gotta give it props.

Mike Bellotti: Why Not a One-Year Interim Coach?
This idea rests on the assumption that Oregon could make a home-run hire after waiting a year. I don't know why that would be true.

BREAKING - per Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia DC Dan Lanning to Leave and Become Next Oregon Head Coach
We need the tail numbers of Kilkenny's and Knight's jets; track 'em and see if anybody is taking a midnight plane to Georgia.

Head Coach Requirements
Would think there's a whole lot of learning to do, going from a coordinator position to that of a head coach. You now run the entire program; you hire, fire and supervise a lot of people; you deal with boosters; you set the priorities; you work with the administration; you appear a lot in public; you take on a ton of responsibility. Plus, a whole lot more. Having HC experience at the D1 level would be preferable, as there would be an existing track record of how a candidate has handled all these things. People rise to new levels of responsibility all the time, but there's a lot more to being a HC than calling the plays on Saturdays.

Crepea on Lanning
He is a candidate, but..."...his reported hiring is premature, at best..." There appears to be at least some smoke here.

BREAKING - per Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia DC Dan Lanning to Leave and Become Next Oregon Head Coach
If you want to parse Matt Prehm's tweet, you could note that he says, "The report of Dan Lanning being hired today...". One could interpret that as meaning Dan Lanning is being hired, just not today. Or, maybe Prehm meant to put the "today" after "report", changing the meaning to Lanning not being hired. Personally, I think it's going to be Woody Hayes.

BREAKING - per Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia DC Dan Lanning to Leave and Become Next Oregon Head Coach
It seems as if the St. Petersburg troll factory is seeking to sow disinformation on the Oregon head coaching search. Don't they have anything worse to do?

BREAKING - per Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia DC Dan Lanning to Leave and Become Next Oregon Head Coach
Well, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution would be considered a reliable source.
