  1. I assume both these players are scholarship players. I wonder if coach tactfully told them they may not be getting the playing time they want next season, as there are better options, and opening a couple scholarships would be beneficial to the program. Snee was a good punter, but maybe after the spring game, he may not be needed.
  2. I was pretty impressed with Butterfield. Once he got over the nervousness of playing with fans present, which hasn't happened since high school, he looked like he knew what he was doing. He may not be mobile enough for the staff, but is smart, accurate, and reads progressions well. From what I saw, I'd be comfortable with him in game situations. From my perspective, while he may not have the physical talents of Thompson, he was far ahead at this point. Nix looked good most of the time, but made some bonehead errors as well, some errors a player with his experience shouldn't have made. The spring game is a no win deal. As Lanning said, one side is going to look good on any given play, but then you're unhappy with the other side of the ball. I think Lanning made a concerted effort to emphasize an explosive offense in this game. He's no dummy. Lanning knows the fans were unhappy with the previous offense, he knows recruits want to see explosiveness and excitement, so a spring game like this makes most everyone watching happy. I also was really impressed with Cota. He seemed to catch anything that was thrown his way, including three 50/50 passes. You could tell he was a very experienced, veteran player.
  3. He apparently also went to the same high school as Matthew Stafford, and won his first tournament at the same time Stafford was in the Superbowl. Quite the performance from Scottie, and a more than impressive final round by McIlroy to shoot 64 on an extremely difficult course.
  4. Following Miami's forums is simply hilarious. They're so excited to have their OC, and especially this one. Mario is giving the same talk he gave us. Balanced offense, fast pace, strong line play. What they don't realize is it doesn't matter who they get for OC, as Mario will go into his control mode, and the new OC will be forced to call promarily run plays between the tackles, followed by a dink pass on third down. There will be no imaginative offense. During his tenure at Oregon, he had one of the best NFL QBs, and one of the best college OCs, but look at the product on the field he gave us . I guess it's great their fanbase is excited, but it will be short lived. Mario just can't help himself.
  5. Just watched the whole video, Awesome.! I'm really excited about this staff, every one of them. To hear each one of them on a personal level talking about what got them here, their history, goals for Oregon, etc. has certainly put the last staff in the rear view mirror. Well worth the time to watch.
  6. It made for 24 hours of good entertainment and speculation. It potentially could have benefited Oregon had it happened. I found this on the Caines sight, and have been very entertained by their whinings and grumblings of lost recruits and lack of coaches.
  7. Just saw a tweet that said he has decided to return to coach Michigan next year.
  8. It also apprears Camar Wheaton , a 5 star RB Alabama recruit, has just entered the transfer portal. He's in rehab right now, but has had very good success. Don't know if he'd have any interest here, but sounds like a good back
  9. I'll be curious to see if Lanning keeps working on him with several weeks available after Mondays game , where he can put in a full time effort. It will also be interesting to see if he stays that far from home through his college career.
  10. Regardless of where he makes a verbal commitment, my guess is once Lanning is past the championship game, once he has more time, he will continue to push Moss if he wants him. I'm expecting a big flurry of recruiting effort for players that the new staff wants, whether they've verbally already committed or not.
  11. It was a sad ending. I was really rooting for them. Their defense just seemed to run out of gas towards the end. But Utah made a game of it and were more than competitive.
  12. I’ve been a fan since Bob Berry was quarterback, my dad, myself, and my son graduated from Oregon, and my grandfather was on the Board of Regents at Oregon. I struggled to watch even the first half, then quit. It was an embarrassment to the school, the athletic department, the team and the players. There was nothing to be gained by playing this game, it hurt recruiting, it hurt our new coach. Numerous other teams found ways not to compete, we should have done the same. We also shouldn’t have allowed an assistant coach going to Miami to spend all this prep time with Oregon players creating a temptation to transfer. As much as I love Oregon football, there was nothing to be gained by this game. I sincerely hope this doesn’t damage our new coaches effort moving forward.
  13. I’m in Dallas, Tx from Bend, Or for a month for the holidays. Likely snowing at home, but 83 and sunny tomorrow here, likely a day at the lake.
  14. Too bad, So sad !! Would be hilarious to see one or two of them as Ducks in the future.
  15. Our new coach is really getting with it. Don't know what will happen with the three we have, but I trust our new coach is doing everything he can to make a winning program. This is obviously a quarterback he knows well.
  16. Apparently, three of his best friends and high school teammates are playing at Arizona. Once the coaching staff fell apart, and there were only a couple days left before early signing, as well as a dead period, the move made some sense.
  17. Just signed with Arizona
  18. In thinking this through the last couple days, I've tried to decide what attributes and deficiencies both coaches possess. MC is a PR guy, with the media, fans, players and especially recruits. But he's failed to follow through with what he's said. As the season progressed, I thought his game coaching was improving until the Stanford game, then it all went downhill. His head didn't appear to be in the game any longer. Players were dissatisfied, in game coaching was poor , he got defensive once a little booing started. His offensive approach was failing, and the wins he got seemed to be from raw talent alone. DL has no head coaching experience, but has been successful wherever he's been. He's highly driven, energetic, articulate, well liked by players and recruits, and has started to surround himself with successful, though inexperienced assistant that are like him. I get the impression he is so driven, he is going to just will this to work successfully. Due to MC's performance and apparent mental state at the end of the season, and DL's drive and desire to succeed, if given a little time, I think we'll see a significant improvement.
  19. It appears to me that Kiffin has matured some as a person and especially as a coach. He still says occasional stupid things, but he's put together a good staff, recruits well, relates well to his players, and is a good game day coach. I think he does a good job, and I would have been fine with him at Oregon if he thought before he spoke.
  20. I believe he still has the ability to return if he, the coach and school agree as he's entered the transfer portal, but has not committed to another school. While he may have ticked off many fans, he still is a good college receiver. He also appears to have developed a relationship with our new OC from FSU.
  21. At the time, Helfrich seemed like the logical choice. The program seemed on auto pilot, he ran the offense well, was liked by the players and fans, and had a great group of assistant coaches. Hindsite is easy, but there just wasn't a way to determine he would be a poor leader. Not every hire works out, yet after his first year things looked pretty good. His ultimate weak leadership and poor recruiting were his undoing.
  22. My concern with seasoned coordinators are they're set in their ways. They've been to numerous schools and may not be as adaptable as they were earlier. I wan't someone with high energy, incredible drive to succeed, relates well with the kids, high energy recruiter yet has just enough experience to do the job. If that person is only 31 with a couple years OC or DC experience, that's just fine with me.
  23. No, I am not still stewing. I don't know what you all wanted him to say. No matter what is said, or who says it, it's going to be coach speak until it's accomplished. He's been coach for maybe 48 hours. How could he have all the details of what he's going to do. He has players to evaluate, assistants and coordinators to hire, recruits to get signed. How could he possibly have all the answers you want at an introductory press conference? I, for one, and excited about his energy and drive. It's going to be fun.
  24. I think publishing this letter is pretty sleasy on Canzano's part, as well as who leaked it. It obviously does nothing to help promote our new coach, in fact, it tries to put a damper on it. I'm very glad it has worked out with Lanning instead of a mediocre Wilcox, who apparently didn't have the chops to face a fanbase with the expectations of Oregon. He's pretty safe where he is. Now if we can just get a coordinator or two in place, and get to work on recruits, things will work out fine. I'm excited to see what the future of Oregon football looks like.
  25. I don't worry about these young coaches at all. They're dealing with 18-21 year old kids, they relate well. These coaches wouldn't be where they are with top notch programs without having a lot of knowledge. Talking with Belotti would be a benefit to get lay of the land, but these young guys know what they're doing. I think they'll relate well to the players and will do a good job of motivating them. I'm excited, much more so than if they'd taken Wilcox. Sounds like Lanning is an overacheiver.
