  1. Ohio State is probably very good, though if the rankings are actually based on what the team has done so far, USC's win over "mediocre" LSU shows more than Ohio State's clear the bench games against the Akron Zips, 52-6 and Western Michigan, 56-0.
  2. Big Ten championship race wide open after Week 2 WWW.YARDBARKER.COM Two weeks into the college football season, the Big Ten is already stirring up some chaos and leaving fans’ fantasy predictions in... The article talks about Oregon and Michigan getting off to shaky starts and Ohio State deserving the pole position. However, while it's unpleasant, it's only the pre-season position USC was in that's keeping the Trojans out of the top 5 in the polls now and being recognized as the team to beat in the BIG.
  3. I kind of like playing the Beavs early in the season. This one is a combo of cliches, "Super Bowl" for the Beavs, "Must Win" for OBD. The last two games have me thinking it will be close. Boise State and Idaho both played solid games, could have won. But I think Lanning's, "Only Oregon Beats Oregon" won the day, and the Ducks came up with the W's.
  4. If there is a team that Lanning would use as a model, it is Georgia, and that is fine with me. But that will take time. If the Ducks had breezed through the first two games this season, not only Oregon fans feel the No.3 ranking was spot on, so would all the media types who saw this as Oregon's real chance to get the Natty. Right now Georgia has supplanted Alabama, but it took a while. The likeliest team to knock Georgia down is Alabama. Oregon is recruiting better than it ever has, but not as good as Georgia and Alabama are. It won't be Sisyphus pushing the rock to get to Georgia's level. Not just in recruiting but coaching overall. But Lanning has a plan and I'm in for the ride.
  5. This article was written before the season started, so looking at it now does give a new perspective. Michigan didn't look good at all against Texas, but Texas looks great, Ohio State is doing as expected. Unfortunately, USC is exceeding expectations. Big Ten football tiers: Oregon arrives as Ohio State’s top challenger after Michigan title WWW.NYTIMES.COM The expanded Big Ten has two national title contenders, multiple teams that can make a CFP run and others in the midst of a...
  6. Not only the team This happens all the time, everywhere. 20 years ago, people would be standing together talking, patting each other on the back, physically communicating, Now, the people are together, all looking down, scrolling through their phones.
  7. What I have missed most from the offense this season is what has been the hallmark of Oregon's offense for a long time. The breakaway run, explosive play from a running back. LaMichael James, Kenjon Barner, Bucky Irving last season. You put your head down for a second, look back up, the Duck RB has got through the line and running free. No doubt, some of this comes from the OL problems. Hopefully, the first sign of the OL coming together will be getting the rushing game going like we're used to seeing it.
  8. So far, the schedule has been very helpful to OBD being 2-0. The Beavs should be the toughest test yet. Do the line setters have to be reminded of the phrase, "those that ignore history are doomed to repeat it?" Or, "What is the definition of insanity?" Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Enough with the Ducks being double digit favorites! This old statement is also true, this game is the Super Bowl for the Beavs. It is also a Must Win for the Ducks. The first two games have shown scattered pieces of a team being a Playoff contender, can Oregon put it all together this time? 30 - 11/29/24 Boise State hosts Oregon State in the last game of the regular season. I imagine Boise will be favored but it's a long way out.
  9. Yes, I did. Congratulations to the NIU Huskies For their huge win over Notre Dame! Or, how about congratulations to the UCONN Huskies Basketball teams The Men's teams are going for a three-peat, their coach said no to the Lakers, and the Women's team is one of the dominant teams of the last 25 years. Of course there are those Huskies up north.
  10. Some announcers ae great, some not so, but all of them can't go a whole game without uttering something ridiculous. The first one I'll mention is one that just gets me every time. Okay, now imagine this is one of the film breakdowns that Charles does. In this case the red arrow will be pointing to the air, while the announcer tells us the receiver, "Pulled it right out of the air" or grabbed, or snagged, This description usually is for an amazing play. Jeff Maehl did this. But where is the ball on the routine plays? The other one is more often said during basketball games. "He left his feet" Again, we'll use the red arrow, pointed at feet. you'll see they stay attached the whole time. Now the player will leave the floor. but with his feet.
  11. Thank you for writing this. The "no business" with Idaho is right, and I was thinking that Alabama under Saban often seemed to have a game that they pulled out at the end. This Ducks team "doesn't want Alabama" for a while. Yet there is something to be said for a team that gets the win, however ugly it is. Hopefully by season's end these two W's will just be sums of the total, not representative of the play.
  12. No. 9 is generous, hopefully it will still be a Top 10 match-up when Ohio State shows up on Oct. 12.
  13. Broncos or Chargers is why I go NFL Red Zone.
  14. The Poll's are confusing. The Ducks started at No.3, after a shaky performance against Idaho, dropped to No.7. Now, they beat a better than Idaho, Boise State and No. 5 Notre Dame lost to NIU, the Ducks should jump back above the Irish, shouldn't they? The Game of the Century against Thee Ohio State, the return of Chip Kelly is still a ways from now, which is fortunate. At the Beavs, then a Bye, them at Chip's former team, UCLA, then home for former Beavs coach, Jonathan Smith and Michigan State, then, the Buckeyes!. Hopefully, the Ducks pick up and their trajectory has them at the level to make this game epic. The match-up we all SAW a few months ago. Corso and Duck will have fun on GameDay, the crowd will be wild, Autzen at it's best, I'm still counting on that for now!
  15. I give a game ball to that always nice to say, Once a Husky, Now a Duck! Jabbar Muhammad. Don't have the stats in front of me, but it looks like he's another in the long line of lock down corner's.
  16. Okay, thank goodness the Ducks won. Had the momentum, were about to go up by 14, then fumble, then fumble again. But somehow....and please what is the deal with letting the ball go early. Is it cool? No, it isn't! The defense was great, but there was a string of Boise State converting 3rd & longs that just about did me in. But, finally beat Boise State!!!!
  17. Make that Nebraska 21 Colorado 0
  18. Purdue won their first game, had a Bye this week. Next week, Notre Dame at Purdue. Go BIG, go Boilermakers!
  19. It was even reviewed!
  20. "Irish Eyes Are NOT Smiling"
  21. Right, Payton said Hix was his "Type" quite a while before the Draft, then Nix got picked. Drew Brees, Nix, Sanders, one of these doesn't play like the others.
  22. A Mock Draft for sure. mock [mäk] verb mocked (past tense) · mocked (past participle) tease or laugh at in a scornful or contemptuous manner:
  23. Is he ever not going to be out with an injury?
  24. If he's all that, not only is he the greatest running back Lanning has seen since he's been at Oregon, he's the greatest running back of all time. I still remember how bad it was watching Toby Gerhart, Ezekiel Elliott, Christian McCaffrey, Reggie Bush. Hopefully we won't remember Ashton Jeanty for very long. Speaking of Rueben Droughns:
  25. Meanwhile, Bowling Green leads No.8 Penn State 24-20 at halftime.
