  1. I know it's been commented on already, but coach Day sets a really bad example. I used to not like the Stoops family of coaches cuz they yelled at players and acted ridiculous on the sideline for every call they hated, but Day is pretty bad. I'm so glad our coach Lanning has better character.
  2. Oh paleese!! Not hardly, not this week!! Go Ducks!! Show all them pundits who's the boss!!
  3. We knew this was coming. Title IX and using football/bball revenue to finance all the sports has shown to be a poor model. I don't know what the answer is, but spending tons of $$ on sports that few people watch or follow is costing someone somewhere. The success of football has covered the craziness of supporting so many sports (m & f) that not only don't generate $$ but cost so much to have. I'm thinking tv revenue might slow down as well if streaming continues to increase. Well in the meantime, we have few Olympic sports and a football team in 1st place. I'm good for now.
  4. Great reminder Charles. We need to enjoy this year's run. I too noticed the plethora of seniors at the beginning of the season as I tried learning the new names and numbers. The caveat is we are also stacked with younger talent, and the future looks just as impressive with recruits. I agree that many other teams are also senior heavy do to extra covid year eligibility. Also, there doesn't seem to be a clear cut "best team" in the nation. Several leaders, including our Ducks, so now is a good year to make a run. Next year will be a reload, not a rebuild. Some of those 2025 verbals look ready to play right away. But mostly, live one day at a time. Enjoy the moment. And Sco Ducks!!
  5. I could say rankings don't matter except to fans, but they do. If we don't win the B1G championship then where we are ranked will determine making the playoffs. We not only deserve #1, we've earned it. I can't believe how so many are hung up on our first two games. We have only improved vastly each week. We have had to find a new offensive line and work in a new qb. Many key starters are transfers learning a new defense. This team is really finding themselves and gelling as a team. We are peaking at the right time. The talking heads in the media are all prejudiced against Oregon for different reasons. Think about it, just 2.5 seasons ago, Lanning and our Ducks lost 49-3 against Kirby Smart and his Dawgs. How could we be #1 already?! To them it's unbelievable. Well, here we are. Awesome. Now we face a real trap game. At home, we're ranked #1, just shutout a team who scored 49 against this team, we better come ready to play. Go Ducks! Destroy the Illini!
  6. I know some Duck fans like(d) Wilcox, at least as a DC. Not me. His coached teams injured 3 of our qb's on late hits. We don't need that kind of coaching in Eugene. But I'll cheer for him this next game.
  7. Great play so far from Justius Lowe and Kenyon Sadiq. Great opportunity to show their stuff.
  8. I hear Lincoln Riley may be available by seasons end...😉
  9. My wife suggested maybe he's "self soothing"... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  10. Coach Lanning will always have that "river boat gambler" in him. And we as fans will rejoice when it works, and heavily sigh when it doesn't. But it will always be exciting. DL is still learning how to coach and boy I'm glad he's a Duck.
  11. I feel you Charles, but the play call should have worked. Tez was WIDE open....9 of 10 times DG makes that pass.
  12. As we bask in the afterglow of last week's big win, and ponder why so many in the media seem confused that Oregon is really "that good", it occurred to me as to why. There are too many old timers doing sports. Retired players, former coaches, many who have been doing it for 25, 30, even 40 years! Think about it, how long has tOSU been a powerhouse football program? Or Penn St.? Michigan? Their whole lives. 40 - 60 years! We at OBD agree, we weren't very good in the 70's or 80's. But we've been one of the best the past 25. All current players in CFB or high-school have known Oregon to be good their entire lives. But not the sports writers, broadcasters. Add to that the incredible Dan Lanning, accompanied with NIL support, best facilities and excellent coaching, why wouldn't every kid want to play at Oregon. Lanning is working his tail off, and we are finally seeing the fruits on the field and with recruits. He really is an amazing young man. Btw, the first branch of his coaching tree, ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham has his team 5-1 in their new conference BIG12. Surprising all the pundits. Proving once again DL knows how to pick em.
  13. After rewatching the game, I thought we did fairly well at times getting pressure with 4 rushers. Howard was pretty much on his game. When we rushed more Howard was less effective. Blitzing against such a potent offense is a high risk/reward move. Over all, I thought our D was excellent. A couple bad, broken plays, but in the end, good enough.
  14. What I find interesting is that preseason talk was how Oregon and Nike were buying players. Then it's leaked that tOSU was shelling out over $20M in NIL, and no one objects. They even mentioned it in the broadcast, claimed they had an NFL quality defense. A roster deep at every position. So what happened? Oregon happened. We too have a stacked roster. And a very loud stadium. And our guy out-coached theirs! That was the difference in this game. The onside kick. Too many men on the field. Gutsy calls. We know we could have played better. The next time we play tOSU, we win by more, and the media will finally acknowledge how good a team we are. Until then, one game at a time. Just keep winning, baby.
  15. It was DG's best game as a Duck. And what a game to bring it! "Money" players always bring their best to the biggest games. His play was a great response to the questions about his redzone pics. He definitely earned a game ball.
  16. I'm with Fishduck on this one, let's move forward. Go beat the Boiler Boys of Purdue.
  17. We don't want to believe it, but we are the new kids on the block. The B1G block. Sure, we are a national recognized brand, but tOSU, Penn St., Michigan have been holding up the B1G flag for decades. We need to "learn" our place. I anticipated calls going the way of tOSU, but I was shocked at that late PI call on their rising star. The refs were trying to get it right. Awesome. The past few weeks I've tried to watch B1G football games of teams we will be playing, it seems to me the refs in the B1G allow way more contact than Pac12 refs did. We better get used to it. About the TV crew, they were lazy and not prepped well for Oregon. And there were too few cameras and not enough replays. I hope this changes going forward. I guess that's on NBC. I'm glad we are now in the B1G, but so far I'm not impressed with quality of game transmission etc. I can't believe the old Pac12 network was better. But with this win, the fan noise, the "controversial" calls, we are well on our way to becoming "that team out west".
  18. Thanks Charles. That was awesome fun reading.
  19. Yes. Great write up. Must read for all us old timers.
  20. It's so true! I listen to him talk and this old fat man is ready to run over hot coals! Boy am I glad he's our coach!!
  21. It would seem to me that if tOSU is an elite team, according to the national media, Oregon must be too. That game was a slugfest. They have a huge o-line and their front 7 on defense are massive as well. Yet are guys held up. Even beat them. I'm very impressed. And we're only half way through the season! Lots of football left. Today, the sun is shining and all is good... ...tomorrow we go back to work and concentrate on Purdue. Goooooo Ducks!!!!
  22. What's amazing to me is that we won after leaving so many points on the field! And DG was great with his deep throws but was off a bit on crossing routes and drop offs to running backs. Any other day he makes those. I was impressed by how stout the defense played. All aspects. And without Burch! There is no doubt for non Duck fans now that we belong in the Natty conversation. If and when we play tOSU next time, I think we will need all our points.
