  1. I'm not an O line coach, but I think scheme had a lot to do with the run game. From what I've learned watching the old Fishduck game film breakdowns, MC's blocking scheme was less effective than in Chip's days. Also listening to coach Klemm speak, he was careful not to speak bad about previous Oline coach, but made it clear he was teaching new concepts and directions. It sounded like he fully believes he is coaching up our Oline in areas they were lacking.
  2. That is funny stuff right there! "In every game last year"? I bet they go 6-6 this year. Recruiting is where it's at and they can't touch our coaches. "Improved the WR coach 200%"?! Whose kidding who! The new husky coach is good and he will help win games, but they still need to get good recruits. That guy giving 2 to 1 odds on beating us? I'll take that bet easy.
  3. Alex, great thought, an explosive offense reappearing at Oregon! I'm salivating at the idea! Yes, Seven should have a great year. He will invoke memories of DAT often. We won't need Bo or whichever QB starts, to win the Heisman. We just need consistent good play with few mistakes. Our team is still young so we will have mistakes. We just need to limit them. We need to remember that Nix started THREE years in the SEC. He is very experienced. That is a big deal. He will have better receivers to throw to. He will have a better OC. He won't have to do it by himself. He has great talent all around him. I absolutely expect the offense to be much more explosive then the past 3 years. I think our running game will be even better. There are some studs in that RB room! Last thought, our defense is going to help our offense be explosive by getting the ball back for them quickly. We will score more points just by having more offensive snaps. Just wait, Duck football is going to be fun to watch again.
  4. Pressure is relative to expectations. Few of us really expect the Ducks to go undefeated and make the playoffs in Lannings first year as head coach. Yes he inherited a solid roster but few are "his" players. They are learning a new offense and new defense. They will be on the road in a hostile environment. Most expectations will be simply to play well and not get embarrassed. Georgia on the other hand is coming off a Natty win and will be ranked high and will have expectations to repeat. Plus, no head coach wants to lose to a former assistant. Coach Smart will have added pressure on him. This is clearly a must win for the Bulldogs. So the pressure is all on them. I would love to see us play well and have a chance to win in the 4th quarter, but if we lose, our hopes for the season remain. Canzano is right.
  5. Sorry. I have ZERO love for this one!!
  6. I know we lost, but I liked this uni!
  7. Interesting that an ESPN writer thinks the country is in love with the SEC as much as ESPN is! Is that why largest TV audience in the past has been a B1G vs Pac12?! There is no doubt CFB will be changing. If the SEC pulls away, then they will become an NFL minor league. All others will remain college football. The nation is tired of only SEC teams in championship, ESPN just can't see past their own $$$ interests.
  8. I have over 20 license plates on the wall, more than a dozen Duck garden gnomes (some inside, some outside), a 4' x 6' poster of the Ducks beating UW from 2008. I have a large Win the Day poster from 2012, numerous key photos framed (Marcus' heisman leap against OSU, Josh Huff winning catch against OSU and DAT's lunge across the goal line in the Fiesta bowl against KSU). This is just a few of the Duck swag at our house. Bobbleheads, clocks, neon signs, more hats than I could ever wear, 7 jerseys, shoes for every color combination (that's a lot!) posters of Autzen, footballs, mini helmets, christmas ornaments, a tiffany lamp, in fact, pretty much anything green and yellow! Even all my yard flowers are yellow! (well, mostly). My favorite shirts are my Aloha prints. I have at least a half dozen of those! Reyn Spooner's are the best. Obviously, I have no self control!
  9. Unfortunately, none! But lots of orange boxes!
  10. I have given away more than all of you!! My son works at Nike, so I've had access to 50% off goods! I have so much stuff, I can open my own gift store!
  11. Must keep the rivalry games! It is exactly those games that make CFB matter. I loved it when we played every team, still wish we could, but we of the north need yearly visits to the LA region to support our recruiting efforts. I like the leadership of GK. He is a breath of fresh air. The quick announcement was a result of him knowing what the members wanted. Making changes last year about playoff expansion etc, was too early in his tenure. I believe now the Pac12 is more united and has a direction. I bet from now on decisions will be timely and affective. No more waiting to follow the B1G.
  12. Yes we did. I'm guessing their reasons for leaving were many and varied. Our RB room looks better than ever. The WR room just got taller and we gained experience and maturity. We added several big bodies on the D-line. And got a starter as a D back. We now have 2 punters, 2 kickers, and one that can do both! From my viewing point, we done did good from the portal, maybe better than what we lost? What do you think 23dux?
  13. I have it on my phone!!! Lol!@
  14. He looks like a key get. Tall, lanky and definitely skill. Has endured injuries so also is older, brings maturity.
  15. Scheduling in the future will change as well, I believe, starting in 2023. Going to 8 conference games will be next, unless CA legislature passes that regulation requiring paying players. That would end Pac12 football as we know it in my opinion. This at least gives best chance for us to send a team to the natty invite.
  16. A great post. Thanks for sharing. I'm loving it!
  17. Don't remember, but I read it in some article. I know you can get some on the secondary market for $$$.
  18. One other thought about coach Lanning, it's been said that one measure of a man's greatness, is to measure the men who follow him. I believe we are all impressed with the men willing to work for DL.
  19. Georgia was given 3x the number we were. So much for "neutral" location.
  20. I want to add that the college football landscape may drastically change in a few years. We have noted many types of scenarios here for example. We may want to have that flexibility in negotiations down the road.
  21. When I first heard about DL, I looked up everything I could find on him and his family. It all made me very excited and a big fan right out of the gate. He is hard working, dedicated, with high moral fiber and a man of integrity. Honest, straight forward and knows he has lots to learn, but is a willing student. Yet, a natural leader. He is also a person with apparently a very high football IQ. His decisions so far seem good. Only time will tell how good. And perhaps best of all, he seems genuinely willing to raise his family in Eugene for many years to come! With regards to GK, I don't think he had enough time to get input from all schools before the first decisions about playoff expansion or scheduling within the alliance. Making too hasty of a decision might have been worse. I don't want espn to have more sway than necessary in the playoffs. I know what we here at Fishduck want, but gotta get all the Universities on board. I think he is doing great at unifying the Pac12 for now. And with his Vegas and entertainment connections, I trust him to negotiate the best tv deal possible.
  22. I don't see Nike doing much with HS kids directly. Also, Nike does LOTS of other schools too. The NIL revenue will come from other boosters. Nike did something with Kayvon, but that was unique. Their big influence will be in connections with other businesses and their expertise in marketing.
  23. Order never comes from chaos. There will be no clarity. Particularly if you expect congress to competently do something.
  24. Chargers in Atlanta Nov 9. Possible Mariota vs Herbert match up! That's a wish for me.
  25. I'd like a Natty, same as all Duck fans. But making that prize the all or nothing goal, is why college football has gone stale. The reality is only one of a handful of schools can win it each year, and it's always the same schools. No matter how many teams you add to a "playoff" we know in all likelihood it will end up being the same teams. And most fan bases realize this. I think that is why so few schools in the Pac12 are willing to enter the "arms race" for football supremecy. Same with the ACC and even the B1G. If only one or two schools really have a chance, why make such a financial commitment to chase it? The race for 1st has made all the bowl games meaningless. That hurts the fans. I used to love traveling in late Dec for some fun with other fans. Better yet if it was New Years. Now if we make the playoffs, which game do you go to? I'm sure if 12 teams make a playoff, more fans will be happy at first. But in the end, the same teams will win it all. This isn't bball. There will not be a "Cinderella". So, eventually, the playoffs will be stale. The desire to be #1 has made losing a single game the ruin of a season. We need to make football fun again. The mighty $$ is taking the fun out of it. I know winning is more fun than losing, but somehow we need to make the Natty a bonus, and not the main thing. Getting a good education. Learning to be a team player. Developing into good citizens. These are worthwhile goals and attainable at every school. These should be the main thing. I know I'm a "Pollyanna", but thanks for listening to my rant.
