  1. While I tend not to be a basher, I can understand the various criticisms still being made about some other previous Duck coaches. But to some extent, I also see Fentress's point. Helfrich did lead Oregon to two national championship games. He did develop Mariota, etc. And more importantly, IMHO, Helfrich didn't ditch the Ducks. He was an Oregon guy, through and through, and a good man to boot. For that and more, I remember him fondly. As for some of the other previous head coaches, well, I'll just stick with my philosophy of being polite. 😉
  2. I seem to remember one of the Duck players, probably a RB, say after the game, "Run the d@mn ball!"
  3. Spoiler alert for anyone who might want to catch it later: Western Kentucky came from being down 28-0 to Old Dominion, to tying 35-35 in the waning moments of regulation, to winning 38-35 in overtime! That is why I at least check out as many bowl games as I can--you never know which ones are going to be exciting. 🏈
  4. Is that Nick from Young and the Restless???
  5. Preface: The music is not my cup of tea, but: I still believe. When Lanning first came here, he talked about watering the bamboo. Water the bamboo for five years, then watch it suddenly rocket to the skies. I think the Ducks are heading toward that goal, and maybe even sooner than five years.
  6. Kind of hard to determine the accuracy of a rumor from 2 years ago.
  7. Looking forward to seeing Bo, Bucky, Brandon, and all the other Ducks who will be playing!
  8. I'm interested in the Fiesta Bowl, because I'm interested in the Duck players. 🙂
  9. I'm a little surprised at those mock drafts--I had just been assuming Bo would go in the first round. Personally, I think late in the first round could be good. A player will still get plenty of money, and will end up on a team with a better record.
  10. Yep, cowboy shows (and cowgirl, let us not forget Annie Oakley) all morning, then go outside and play "cowboys" with your friends. I didn't listen to LR on the radio, but can clearly see him on Silver running during the theme music of on TV. I do remember the family gathering around the radio to listen to Our Miss Brooks.

  12. Oh, ho, ho, ho! (I guess we are from the same era. 😄 )

  14. I think Miss Manners would approve. 🙂😉
  15. Saw the picture of him with Sanders a couple of days ago, so disappointed, but not surprised.
  16. The thing is, to me, doesn't this additional game make for 14 regular-season games for the Ducks next year? I mean, isn't that kind of grueling?
  17. Let's see. Before Oregon left for the B1G, I think USC and UCLA were already gone, then CO, then AZ, ASU, and Utah all announced that they were about to leave, and around that time Stanford and Cal announced they were leaving. But, sure, Oregon is to blame for the demise of the PAC-12.
  18. A surprise, to me, anyway. https://www.si.com/college/oregon/recruiting/oregon-ducks-cornerback-trikweze-bridges-enters-the-transfer-portal?fbclid=IwAR0Jg1z0vg3x1U-fricken-9Hgchibo6qlceZY8Ql-xmDjJwOMYrSkfEiYN8EfGHk
  19. Well, I guess while am I a super fan of the Ducks, I am not a Superfan. I love, love, love the Ducks and love watching them play. I am joyful for days after they win. But when they lose, well, I'm sad for a short while, but then I start looking ahead, be it to the next game or the next season. I think of the real sadness I've dealt with, be it personal or out in the world, and losing a football game just doesn't compare for me. That's not to say that I think there's anything amiss with someone really feeling down after a loss. We feel what we feel, and there's no right or wrong about that.
  20. No surprise, but sad. I love the Holiday Bowl and was disappointed when it was "downgraded." I remember so well when the Ducks beat Texas in the 2000 Holiday Bowl and Joey scored running, throwing, and receiving. It was so satisfying to see the 98% of the TX fans who were so snotty and sure they were going to win slinking slowly out of the stadium.
  21. I wonder too. I'd guess that they really wanted it, but for whatever reason got off on the wrong foot, caught up and went ahead, but just couldn't get the win. It was 3 points. That's so close. 💔
