I thought Ken Woody would mention this in his write up about the PAC-12 Championship game and he did: "Oregon’s offensive line looked anemic, rather than destructive, and Irving looked injured--it was a discouraging sight. The Ducks were getting punished in the trenches because the pad level of Washington’s offensive and defensive linemen was nearly always lower than Oregon’s. The old adage 'low man wins,' was never more appropriate and spoke to the superiority of the Huskies, all based on 'leverage.'"

1) Bo will be playing--and maybe that will inspire other NFL-potential Duck players to join him. 2) It is a New Year's Day bowl! 3) The Liberty players, coaches, and fans are thrilled their team will be in the Fiesta Bowl and that kind of excitement is contagious. 4) See #2! This gives the Ducks the opportunity for an upbeat finish to the season! GO DUCKS!

I still can't wrap my head around this. I mean other pairings are like 5 & 6, 7& 9, 10& 11--but the Fiesta Bowl (a Jan. 1 bowl game!) is 8 & 23??? I don't get it. I just don't get it.

All I can say is 😮. I imagine the Fiesta Bowl folk are not thrilled about this either.

I can never understand the total negativity of such "fans." Have they lost their houses betting on games? Are their egos so wrapped up in games that they can't handle a loss? I mean, sure, I'm sad when the Ducks lose, but I still love OBD!

I don't blame the FSU fans for being incensed. Undefeated and conference champions--what more could they have done to get in!

I've been watching the games today while I've been decorating the Christmas tree, and that's probably what I would have done even if the Ducks had won last night. Sometimes you just have to multitask.

I try to never look too far ahead. That said, how many one-loss teams will there be at the end of the day, and how would things have been sorted out if the Ducks had beat uw?

One thing Lanning says is that injuries are no excuse, that everyone's banged up at this time of year. I think Bucky was probably playing injured. Ordinarily he would plow through defenders and gain several yards more after first being hit, but not yesterday.

I'll be interested to read Ken Woody's article in a couple of days to see if he mentions pad levels (as he sometimes does). Both the D-line and O-line seemed not quite up to usual standards.

It seems the safe answer to questions about leaving a program is, "I love it here." Followup questions to be answered with questions. "Why would I leave?" "Do you know something I don't know?" Etc. Just saying something, without really saying anything.

I saw that last episode too and also got a little verklempt. ❤️ I've also been wondering if the PAC-12 would some day, say 10 years or so from now, reconstruct itself. I know it's anywhere from extremely unlikely to impossible, but, still, I can't help wondering.

I thought the Gators might pull the upset yesterday--but the expanded playoffs next year should make it more exciting for everybody. Enjoy the too-long off season, and we'll look for you here again!

Interesting. Smith is leaving one "little brother" school for another. It will be intriguing to see if he can pull MSU up more to Michigan's level.
