Oregon vs Ohio State for the Spring Game? Who Says No?!?
Annie replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If it's in Eugene, maybe. If it's in Ohio, no. -
I also don't enjoy hearing the student section at football games saying, "And we're going to beat the "crap" (not quite what they say) out of you, and you, and you." It's not so terrible, I guess, compared to some things I hear being shouted, but I find it annoying and juvenile. Reminds me of when I and my friends were about 4 years old and thought that insulting someone by calling him/her a "pee-pee, wee-wee" was the height of hilarity, when, of course, it was just childish. (And if our parents heard us, we got scolded. )

I've heard only the first line of that version of the OSU fight song, and that part is definitely funny. But I'll guess it goes "downhill" from there.

So, now there's etiquette in taunting and trash talking? I am so behind on things. QUAAACK! Oregon Nabs Commitment From Four-Star Safety Aaron Flowers
Annie replied to Annie's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon lands a commitment from On3 top-100 safety Aaron Flowers Oregon picked up a win on the recruiting trail Friday afternoon. That win came in the form of a commitment from On300 DB Aaron Flowers, who pledged to the Ducks over USC and Oklahoma on Friday. Flowers, a top-100 recruit out of Forney (Texas) High School in North Texas, was getting recruited primarily by head coach Dan Lanning, who made the elite safety a top priority for the Ducks in this cycle. “If the head coach is really involved in the recruiting process and is really on you, then the school really wants you a lot and you’re a big priority for them,” Flowers told On3. Williams sees value in both ION and the CW networks. Well, I get both ION and CW already, so, selfishly, I can say that at least I'd have no problem seeing the games.

Thanks for helping with getting it to post with the pictures!

I did not know this! From Autzen to the small screen – Devan Long’s journey to star on CBS’s Ghosts A former star Ducks football player and one of the stars of CBS’s comedy Ghosts, Devan Long’s journey from Autzen Stadium to the small screen has been fraught with catastrophic curves and unforeseen opportunities. Good point. Sad, but true.

Exactly!

(Note from Mr. FishDuck: I have pinned this because of the nature of sports, social media and human nature these days, and what is contained in post No. 6 below) I remember the idea of good sportsmanship being drummed into us starting in grade school. You weren't supposed to whine and complain if you lost, nor brag if you won. Sorry if this makes me a fossil, but I don't enjoy the trash talking, etc. in today's sports.

Are the Oregon Ducks in Danger of Losing Dana Altman?
Annie replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This will make me sound like a relic, but I think the lack of a local paper that at one time would have had pages devoted to the UO NIT is one factor. Even pre-game coverage on TV didn't seem to be particularly prevalent. Yes, it was the NIT, not the NCAA, but it was still post-season play. So a lack of marketing, be it from lack of funding or changing times, was most likely a factor. -

And if their exams are over early in the week, they go home, and probably watch the game on TV from there. -
On the one hand, I'd hate to see it. Basically, I hate change. And I don't want to see the demise of the PAC-however-many. On the other hand, it could mean games for Oregon would start at a reasonable hour, since the biggies in the big would not want their games starting at 10 pm or later their time.

Canzano: Dana Altman Is Fuming... But He's Not Leaving Oregon
Annie replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
One easy update to Matt Court arena would be to put up all the banners from all the past seasons. The one and only one up there looks lonely, and is barely visible. Current players may not know about past achievements, but many current fans do, and would probably enjoy seeing the reminders. -
Now This is Interesting . . . New UO President Announced (from B1G)
Annie replied to noDucknewby's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I was kind of hoping for a woman president, but he certainly sounds qualified. Good luck to him as new president of UO! -
Does B1G Have A Viable Strategy For UCLA And USC. . . Or Not?

Yes, it's a killer for non-revenue sports. -
Canzano: Pac-12 Officially Exploring Four Expansion Schools
Annie replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
To me that means that PAC-12 are the spillover that gets mopped up and squeezed out over the late hours for a few drops of water. Or, to stay with nourishment comparisons, like crumbs being swept off the counter in order to put them on a plate for late-night consumption. -

Unfortunately, I hate after-dark games. I sell my tickets to them, and the only ones I watch on TV are the Duck games.
