  1. (Note from Mr. FishDuck: I have pinned this because of the nature of sports, social media and human nature these days, and what is contained in post No. 6 below) I remember the idea of good sportsmanship being drummed into us starting in grade school. You weren't supposed to whine and complain if you lost, nor brag if you won. Sorry if this makes me a fossil, but I don't enjoy the trash talking, etc. in today's sports.
  2. This will make me sound like a relic, but I think the lack of a local paper that at one time would have had pages devoted to the UO NIT is one factor. Even pre-game coverage on TV didn't seem to be particularly prevalent. Yes, it was the NIT, not the NCAA, but it was still post-season play. So a lack of marketing, be it from lack of funding or changing times, was most likely a factor.
  3. And if their exams are over early in the week, they go home, and probably watch the game on TV from there.
  4. On the one hand, I'd hate to see it. Basically, I hate change. And I don't want to see the demise of the PAC-however-many. On the other hand, it could mean games for Oregon would start at a reasonable hour, since the biggies in the big would not want their games starting at 10 pm or later their time.
  5. One easy update to Matt Court arena would be to put up all the banners from all the past seasons. The one and only one up there looks lonely, and is barely visible. Current players may not know about past achievements, but many current fans do, and would probably enjoy seeing the reminders.
  6. And where did he first hear it? Maybe the question could be put to an AI Chat Box?
  7. I was kind of hoping for a woman president, but he certainly sounds qualified. Good luck to him as new president of UO!
  8. To me that means that PAC-12 are the spillover that gets mopped up and squeezed out over the late hours for a few drops of water. Or, to stay with nourishment comparisons, like crumbs being swept off the counter in order to put them on a plate for late-night consumption.
  9. Unfortunately, I hate after-dark games. I sell my tickets to them, and the only ones I watch on TV are the Duck games.
  10. My feeling is that now that Marcus is happily married and proud father to his new baby girl, he will decide not to continue to play football and will move on to the next phase of his life, whatever that may be.
  11. Equal opportunity for NIL violations. Recruiting violations occurred in Miami (Florida) women’s basketball program - NCAA.org WWW.NCAA.ORG The Miami (Florida) women's basketball head coach violated NCAA rules when she facilitated impermissible contact between two...
  12. Well, I just checked and I get ION. But I guess I don't understand the whole issue. Right now the PAC-12 network shows Duck games, but we see them on ESPN, ABC, Fox, etc. too. So, forgive my ignorance, what exactly does it mean when something has the rights to the PAC-12 games?
  13. Consider that this information is coming from The Post....
  14. Or at least shorten them. Right now they last anywhere from about 2.5-3.5 minutes. On the other hand, when I'm at the game, that does give me enough time to zip to the bathroom or the concession stand and get back in my seat before the game starts up again.
  15. I wondered about this. On the one hand, the charges were so serious--on the other hand, maybe it would be more prudent to wait a bit to see if the DA would charge him. If it's just that there's not enough proof, that's one thing. If the DA decided that it's likely he's innocent, that's another. Would he be asked to rejoin the team, and, if so, would he accept? Okay, just heard he's been exonerated. So, what happens next?
  16. Ever more complicated. NCAA Amateurism Roasted by ‘Hot Bench’ in Federal Appeals Hearing WWW.SPORTICO.COM If the NCAA thought a federal appeals court would be sympathetic to college athletes being denied employment status, that was a...
  17. I just hope his guns were confiscated if he's out walking the streets.
  18. These parts of the article sounds promising to me:... ...has experience as a player, competing at the Power 5 level on the offensive line. ...His relationships with our current and past student-athletes are unmatched, and his reputation as a teacher precedes him.... As a graduate assistant with the Ducks in 2019, Terry worked with an Oregon offensive line that included a trio of all-Americans in Penei Sewell, Shane Lemieux and Calvin Throckmorton. Sewell was awarded the Outland Trophy as the top interior lineman in the country, and joined Marcus Mariota and LaMichael James as the only unanimous all-Americans in program history at the time. Terry helped the Ducks to a 12-2 overall record, a Pac-12 Championship and a Rose Bowl victory in 2019, and the offensive line was one of four finalists for the Joe Moore Award as the nation's most outstanding offensive line unit. Oregon also dominated the Pac-12 Offensive Lineman of the Week award with eight winners in 12 weeks, including a league-high four honors for Sewell and two each for Lemieux and Throckmorton.
