Holy Crap! Look at What Oregon's Projected Team Weakness Is...
Annie replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It's been a while, so the memory cells are not fresh, but didn't Chip forgo 2-3 FG attempts for going for it on 4th down in the national championship game against Auburn? It happens... -
"The Duck" Continues His Visits to the BIG Ten
Annie replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
You never know when the gates to a stadium might be unlocked. One year, many years ago, I was on a trip that included parts of Texas and we found a gate to the Cotton Bowl unlocked. I can't believe it now, but we actually went inside and walked around the stadium, and I even went down on the field and ran a few yards. Maybe The Duck will have similar luck at one of the B1G stadiums. -
Would B1G Fans Handle Getting "Ducked-Up" at Their Home Games?
Annie replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The Duck is a fun mascot, so I think with the possible exception of the beavs, other fans would see the fun in a giant duck on a river near them. After all, it's not like letting a Texas longhorn or a Colorado buffalo run loose in the streets of the home of another team. -
If so, what/who stood out in your eyes?

They didn't call him New Weasel for nothing. Other schools may not have one donor financially equivalent to Knight, but they have (and have had) several donors whose financial contributions add up to a LOT. No tears for other schools in regard to NIL money.

I don't know what Xfinity package I have, but B1G is included. Have you looked for it to see if you have it? That's how I found out.

That's just it. This is not THE Mt. Rushmore, it's the Duck Mt. Rushmore, so it doesn't need to be limited to 4 players.

I remember hearing later that the spring before Musgrave started as QB that the coaches were worried that the Ducks could lose every game in the upcoming season. Fortunately, the Ducks went 6-5 that year, and, overall, Musgrave led the Ducks to a 28-19 record and a 27-24 victory over Tulsa in the 1989 Independence Bowl.

Ah, yes, the University of TX. Reminds me of going to the 2000 Holiday Bowl when the Ducks played TX. TX announced that their (planned) victory would launch their march to a national title in the next season. TX fans were positive they would beat Oregon, and 95% of the TX fans were nasty and/or obnoxious (there were a couple of nice TX fans). Oh, how fun to watch the Ducks win that game and see the TX fans slinking out of the stadium after the game was over, as the Duck fans stayed to watch the after-game fireworks display and celebrate the victory. It was the game when Joey scored a running touchdown, a passing touchdown, and a reception for a touchdown.

Color me uninformed, but I've always heard THE Ohio State, but haven't noticed they say THE OSU, which makes more sense to me. I mean, there are at least 3 OSU's that I know of. If there are several Ohio States, I'm not familiar with any except the one in Columbus.

Well, the wife being in the wedding makes it difficult to skip out. When the daughter of a friend got married on the day the Ducks played USC a few years ago, we did not attend. It was up in Portland, and on a boat in October, so I would have been reluctant to go anyway, so the decision was not difficult.

Oregon TV Kickoff at 9:00 AM: Are you IN?
Annie replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
When the Ducks play WA, USC, UCLA, and Oregon State will probably be the most likely night games. Oh, and OCC games against less-than-top-tier teams. -

Oregon Has a New SPEED Coach for Football...
Annie replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That's what I remember coaches saying way back when. They'd say they could coach this, that, and the other, but not speed, so they recruited for speed. -
Oregon Has a New SPEED Coach for Football...
Annie replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Couldn't find much, but there's this, thought it seems aimed at the athlete and not a coach: Here are 5 useful methods to improve running speed, whatever your level: Interval training. Interval training is a popular method used by runners to improve speed. ... Add sprints into your long runs. ... Choose lightweight running shoes and gear. ... Skipping rope workouts. ... Build your strength. One reason I asked, was because at one time, long ago, I read that speed couldn't really be coached. Don't remember who said that, though. -

Just curious--how does one coach speed?
