  1. They can barely fill their stadium. While that is not a prerequisite to a qualifying berth, you still need alumni support to be competitive on the national stage. Perhaps they can qualify if every bounce of the ball goes there way in the new PAC, but as stated earlier, they would just be a lower seed against a top team. The realignment carousel is still spinning, and money wise the new PAC will be competing for media dollars with the big boy conferences. Outlook for a media contract that pays all the bills is going to be a stretch.

  3. The Huskers “couged” it.
  4. I submit my idea for a trophy. The Cascadia Trophy (cascadia can be defined as a bioregion…land of falling waters) The sculpture depicts a 40 lbs. chinook salmon. A classy connection to the Pacific Northwest…one of the many fisheries/industries in the region. I would rather win this than a bronze sculpture of a .
  5. It is unusual to have a record last as long as Ronnie Lee’s. However, he is by far the overall leader of career field goal attempts by over 480. Ronnie Lee and Greg Ballard are in the top 5 scorers of all time at Oregon. (Played together)
  6. Boettcher is a great story. There are always guys who practice well, but for whatever reason their play does not elevate on game day. Reacting to what you see is such a big part of the game. Finding the guys who react quickly, and are mostly correct, is not an exact science.
  7. Not really a viable rivalry when the game means nothing. In conference it was meaningful because of standings, or bowl implications. For the most part, their season was a success if they beat the Ducks. Now, they are just that annoying pothole on the drive home…I will hit it only if there is no other alternative.
  8. The portal is a recruiting tool. Some coaches are better at using it than others.
  9. Great picture. Is that Ed Dickson after his TD catch on 4th down? The students had piled out of the stands to rush the field. You can see them on the sidelines. That is the year we had to win out after losing a shoot out with Stanford for a Rose Bowl berth. Masoli then ended the rodents bid for an upset by trucking the DB on 4th down to ice game. Won the last two games by a total of 7 points. Great memories.
  10. So many great games. The pick started the ball rolling for me in football. 1999 never ending 3 OT win at home against USC in 1999. The come from behind win at home against Oklahoma and Adrian Peterson was fun. A questionable onside kick is recovered and the Ducks pull out the comeback win 34 - 33. Kenyon Barner rushes for 321 yards against USC at the Coliseum.
  11. Duke’s in Lake Oswego is another good one…
  12. Hey everyone, we got to try on the newest safety gear from ODOT.
  13. Two other downtown choices: Fields Bar and Grill and The Independent bar and grill. Depends on the crowd you want to hang with.
  14. I think the Duck club goes to Birdie Time Pub 925 SE Main Street They “host” a watch party for a lot of the games.
  15. We Came, We Saw, We Conquered.
  16. Orange makes people look fat.
  17. 4th quarter, after Moore’s drive for a field goal.
  18. DG is a baller, and showed teams in front of us that he is certainly a duel threat. Always a thorn to opposing defenses. However, not sure you get DG as the answer from players as to the identity of the team. Identity to me is the collective perception of how a team goes about winning a game. How do the players perceive their roles, and the focus they have carrying out those roles. Trusting its leadership is certainly key, but they also must trust each other. DG is a large part of winning, but every QB takes on that role. Identity happens when key players stumble, and others are needed to pick them up.
  19. Watching DG become more vocal at the line of scrimmage is a sign to me that he is getting comfortable with the playbook, and is identifying defensive looks that can create problems. There is definitely a learning curve. I think a lack of game time led to poor execution, penalties, and turnovers. They are really never eliminated from the game, but get minimized as a team works things out together. I don’t think for a second that DG had sufficient time to have completely mastered all the details of running a new playbook on a new team. But, his play on Saturday showed us that he is starting to get it. Give us a few more games, and we could get pretty darn good.
  20. Interestingly, Strother had the highest pff grade on the OL for the game, followed by Cornelius, and then Conerly Jr. Perhaps Strother is a better gamer, than practice guy. The coaches found an OL combo that played a clean game together. A huge step in the right direction.
  21. The upside is that Bedford will provide depth for the long haul. A long way to go…
  22. Nice recap. Simple game plan, force a running team to pass. The OL gave DG the opportunity to shine, and the offense gave us a reason to believe that we still are a very good team. The talent gap was obvious, and the Ducks dominated as one would expect from this level of talent. It was interesting that there were actually predictions of a loss. Winning doesn’t always come easy, Georgia squeaks by Kentucky, and Notre Dame….well, they always seem to do less with more. The schedule ahead gets harder, but with a team that plays well together, anything is still possible.
  23. It was a good game for the team. The OL play lifted everyone, DG was in command, the running game did major damage , and the scoring was more akin to what we all expected. The defense probably would have allowed just 10 points if not for the bad call at the end of the half. This game was much needed going into the bye week.
  24. ESPN answers to Disney’s Board of Directors. (ESPN, ABC) The companies long time CEO (Bob Iger) took back the company a few years ago because of declining revenues (stock price). The company has been gearing up to launch a joint venture Sports streaming platform called Venu Sports. Iger toyed with selling equity shares of ESPN to the NFL. Capital was probably needed for the joint venture. FUBO filed anti-trust lawsuit that has blocked the launch of the new sports platform. The PAC12 was forced to renegotiate its expired contract at a time where ESPN has to keep expenditures in check because of uncertainty. I guess the point is that the Board of Directors call the shots…I am guessing they are not throwing out any new huge contracts beyond the $7.8 billion contract paid for the CFP.
