  1. I might add Texas Tech to the mix. We're just now seeing the fruits of the influx of oil money that has been getting pumped into that program. They will be a player for years to come. I think what makes Oregon attractive is not just Nike's money, but their vast experience in sports marketing. A&M proved you can buy the best players, but if you don't manage your NIL correctly it can be disastrous.
  2. He did play for and graduate from Louisville. He left a B1G job to coach his alma mater. However, I think he would leave if he thought that their commitment to winning a national championship wasn't on par with those who are offering him a job.
  3. A few years ago I would have thought that this is a ridiculous statement. How is it that a school such a as Oregon can go around the nation and poach coaches? Then I heard something on Sirius XM radio yesterday that brought me to the new reality. Oregon has become a destination job. There is a radio show on Channel 83 called College Sports Radio. In the afternoon they have a show called Off Campus with former college and NFL players Jacob Hester and EJ Manuel as hosts. They did a segment with one of their guests where they listed the top six college football programs that nobody should ever turn down. Their exact quote was "If one of these schools call, you take the job". In no particular order they all agreed that LSU, UGA, Bama, Ohio State Notre Dame and Oregon fell into that category. Everybody always knew Oregon has great resources with Nike's backing, but I think reality set in when Dan Lanning said he wasn't interested in leaving for Alabama or any other job. Add the fact that many coaches around the nation are never able to hide their envy when talking about Oregon's "vast resources" and "unlimited NIL money". If Oregon is ever in need of a new coach or coordinator there will be a line at the AD's door waiting for an interview.
  4. A little trivia for everybody with regard to Brohm. He has the most victories in the ACC since he arrived in 2023. He also has a 4-0 regular season record against top 5 teams in his lifetime. His only top 5 losses in the post-season came in two conference championship games. I see Penn State making a huge push to hire him.
  5. This is a strange year. Penn State probably exercised too much patience (which isn't always a bad thing) with James Franklin and they finally crashed. However, I don't see them being down for long. They'll get a good coach and be back in the top 3-4 teams in the B1G. The patience they showed with Franklin will help them attract a really good HC who can concentrate on building his program and not being worried about losing his job in the first couple of years. They will also spare no money for resources. Indiana is a strange situation. Cignetti is a great coach, but he likes to rely on developing 3-star recruits while backfilling with role players from the portal. I almost get a Kalen DeBoer-at-Washington feel about Cignetti because he does really well with his former players (from JMU) and other people's players. They always say you need the Jimmy's and Joe's to win championships. Can he get highly ranked recruits to come to Bloomington? Time will tell. I see them as having a few great years mixed with years of 7, 8, 9 win seasons. Wisconsin needs two things to happen in order to get back in the top 25. First, they need to spend money. Second, they need to hire the right coach who fits their DNA. Pat Fitzgerald would be a great fit in my opinion. However, nothing is going to change until they get into the arms race. Big O-linemen and great RB's are no longer going to come to Madison because of their reputation for producing NFL prospects at those positions. They're going to follow the money. USC and UW are doing fine. No need for them to make improvements.
  6. I had a feeling this wasn’t the initial product.
  7. I don’t think Brian Kelly is working out in Baton Rouge. FSU and USC could open up as well. There are going to be some traditionally good programs fighting over coaches. I think the days of taking their pick of coaches are over. I don’t see many of these guys moving from a good situation to a rebuilding job with impatient administrators, fans and boosters.
  8. Can we count the wings on the helmets and diamond plating on the jerseys? Personally, I think tie-dyed helmet wings would’ve looked great.
  9. I didn’t see Novosad on the injury report. It’s going to be hard to get a medical redshirt authorized if he isn’t listed as injured.
  10. Penn State had horrible play from their QB, but their running game gave Iowa all they could handle. They have talent. They just need to harness it. Ohio State will be too much for them, but they have Indiana at home after that. Penn State could still throw a wrench in the playoff like ASU did today.
  11. If he’s transferring the it means he thinks he won’t start next season. Read into that what you will.
  12. Dilly can throw a huge wrench in the playoff race with an upset today. Unfortunately, I see Tech boat racing them.
  13. His daughter’s decision not to keep attending Penn State is understandable seeing as how harshly her peers treated her father. I see him at Virginia Tech next season. It’s not a bad place to get an education, so she might end up better off.
  14. Underwood is talented but very undisciplined. Fuskies are making him look like a Heisman contender.
  15. I too am living rent free in Jed Fisch’s head. It seems that he is obsessed with copying my furniture. I’ve had this couch for five years and his looks new.
  16. I’m hearing Harsin, Ed O, and Vigen from Montana State. It doesn’t really matter who they get. Beavis is G6 now which means they’re a stepping stone to a P4 job.
  17. Miami has a weird schedule. Their bye weeks only had one game separating them (FSU). Now they have seven straight weeks of football. Oregon dealt with this last year. I think it was eight weeks they went between bye weeks. It makes recovering from injuries pretty difficult. Coming off a bye week isn’t always optimal for a program that has gotten into a rhythm. Before last night, Miami had only played one game since September 20th, so that might have had something to do with their play. Also, Louisville had a great plan.
  18. Miami has some good players. They’re going to be in the playoff. They’ll be dangerous.
  19. Oregon wins 24-20 1 TO 1 sack 197 Passing Yards
  20. Everybody has seemed to write off Penn State as a threat in the B1G and for good reason. They’re winless in the conference, they just fired their head coach, their QB is out for the season and it seems that even their own administration has even written them off as they begin their search for a new coach. However, there is one thing a lot of people are overlooking. Talent. Penn State has loads of it and now the proverbial chains are off. They are no longer weighed down by the high expectations of winning a title. They also don’t have to worry about playing for their head coach’s job. However, they still should be motivated to perform well because many of them skipped the NFL draft to come back for this season. These players certainly don’t want to see their draft stocks buried because they gave up on their seasons. Perhaps the coaching staff felt micromanaged by their former head coach and now they can continue to implement their game plans without interference. Maybe their backup QB is an accurate passer who makes good decisions, but lacked the prototypical size and arm strength to start. Whatever happened, they weren’t responding positively to Franklin’s leadership. I’m quite sure the interim coach has told them that they’re capable of playing like a contender and it’s time to show it. They still have, Iowa, Ohio State and Indiana left on their schedule. If I’m Terry Smith my message is simple. Try to ruin every opponent’s chance at the playoffs for the remainder of the season. https://www.ydr.com/story/sports/college/penn-state/football/2025/10/16/how-penn-state-football-can-recover-without-james-franklin-at-iowa/86610310007/
  21. Drink is from Alma, AR (Go Airedales!). I don’t think we’re going to see him making the jump to Arkansas just because he was a Razorbacks fan growing up. Believe me, if they could coerce him or The Gus Bus to come to Fayetteville they would. However, for Drinkwitz, jumping ship from an established program to go rebuild a program is the definition of insanity. As for Gus, I’m not sure he wants the headache of dealing with NIL.
