Quantity Over Quality: Ferentz Set To Become B1G Wins Leader
I consider Mike Belotti a Hall of Fame coach even though he only won two Pac 12 championships (one outright) and a Fiesta Bowl. However, he was only here for 13 years and only had one losing season. Ohio State would be the third conference rival because they’ve beaten us so many times and their fans have a superiority complex. We have a Rose Bowl history with Wisconsin. I personally consider the Badgers a rival because they think they have better college football, beer and cheese. Everybody knows that Oregon is the leader in all three categories.

Quantity Over Quality: Ferentz Set To Become B1G Wins Leader
That says something about the athletic department at Iowa. They like stability as long as there is a double-digit win season every five years or so. Unfortunately, this was the stance Rob Mullens was willing to take when he offered the Oregon job to Josh Wilcox. Fortunately, Wilcox turned it down and Rob went with his second choice, Dan Lanning.

Saban Makes Me Want to Hurl...
Nick was smart to quit while he was ahead. I actually think he enjoys the fact that the guy who replaced him is not successful. It’s a huge ego boost.

There will be a lawsuit fighting this. The quarter system will just be another round in the chamber for the lawyers.

Understanding NIL reporting
Keep in mind that much of the increase in a team's NIL expenditures is a result of trying to outbid other teams who intend to poach their rosters. That is exactly what happened to Ohio State last year. Most of their $20M was spent on keeping guys in Columbus. I would imagine Oregon has had to do the same.

The Meltdown in Alabama is EPIC
Glen Schumann (UGA DC) is the most logical, but he might take a while to turn things around. He's a Bama alum and he knows the SEC, however, he won't come right out and compete for championships. If the fans and boosters are willing to wait for results then he would be a good choice much like Kirby and Lanning were for UGA and Oregon. I don't see DeMeco Ryans leaving the NFL unless he's fired. He's having success right now and he doesn't have to fill his offseason time recruiting. Cignetti is a wild card. If he's successful again at IU then they may make a run at him. He's confident enough in himself that the Bama job wouldn't intimidate him. Then there's Lane. Always looking for the next best thing. Although, his daughter did talk him into staying at Ole Miss when Auburn was after him. She still has a year or two left at Ole Miss so he may not leave until after she graduates. He also knows that following a legend/former boss can lead to a brutal firing.

Alabama Wiped Out By FSU
Saint Nick is part of the problem. Him having an office in the stadium hasn't helped to make this a smooth transition. Everybody said that DeBoer would be constantly looking over his shoulder and that is exactly what has been happening.

The Meltdown in Alabama is EPIC
There is nothing more entertaining that the Paul Finebaum Show after an Alabama loss. The shows after the NCG losses to Clemson rank among the elite in listening pleasure. I think it's safe to say that Bama will no longer be hiring head coaches out of the state of Washington. They had a dominant run, but it seems that a few of the diehards are moving on to the acceptance phase of coping. That said, they need to accept the fact that the best of the best coaches in college football are not going to drop everything and allow themselves to be lured to Alabama. If they listened carefully to Dan Lanning's comments yesterday then they know he's not leaving a program that is willing to spend the money to compete with the Top 10 in CFB. Can Bama scrape together the money for a top flight roster? Maybe, but I don't see i happening after paying a $70M buyout. Even if they could, why would Lanning move from an environment where he basically deals with one booster and has somewhat of a patient fan base? They're never going to get Kirby Smart or Sark or Ryan Day. I'm also 99% sure that Dilly would turn them down to stay in Tempe which would be one hell of a blow to their psyche. They need to face the facts. Every program they want to poach a head coach from would consider Bama to be a step down. A lateral move at best if they're chasing Kiffin.

AP Poll is Out
I think we’ll get an idea about a few of these teams after week 3. LSU is going to be tested against Florida and I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose. Miami has USF, Clemson has Ga. Tech and Notre Dame has A&M. Those should all be good tests.

AP Poll is Out
Miami has a front loaded schedule with Florida, FSU and Louisville back to back to back (with a bye in between each one). However, they play six straight to end the season with road games at SMU, VA Tech and Pitt. There is ample opportunity for Mario to go off the rails this season.

AP Poll is Out
They were unranked prior to Saturday's game. This is their debut in the poll.

Oklahoma State's HC Mike Gundy: Talkin Out of Both Sides of His Mouth
I don't believe he was talking out of his mouth when he made those comments.
-
SEC Coverage: Thoughts on ESPN?
LSU’s performance was extremely underwhelming due to the fact that Clemson’s defense doesn’t come close to what they were when they were winning championships. They get Florida in a couple of weeks at home and I think the Gators will knock them off. The SEC’s worst nightmare is ending up with a two or three loss conference champion like the ACC last season. There is a decent possibility of that happening

Anyone Else Watching the Miami Game?
Miami has great talent. They will probably win this game. However, that special teams screw-up is something that happens to Mario’s teams more than it should.

Alabama Wiped Out By FSU
His dad was the backup QB for the 1988 OSAA state football champion Lakeridge Pacers (Lake Oswego). He backed up Mike Miadich who went on to play baseball at Notre Dame. Doug went on to earn a scholarship to the university of Idaho and was eventually drafted by the Saints. However, he only lasted a few seasons in the NFL.

General Comments on Ducks & College Football
I’m the opposite of the above posters. I absolutely love Gus Johnson’s crescendo. He’s so much better than the ESPN crowd. Everybody else is extremely dull.

General Comments on Ducks & College Football
I hope Nico Iamaleava invests well because he tanked his draft status by going to UCLA. Utah will win the Big 12 if they keep playing like they did. Could this be Whittingham’s final season? Look for the ESPN hype machine to rev back up after Texas and Bama get their first wins. They just can’t help themselves. Florida's defense held a scrub team to 80 yards total offense. That’s hard to do against any team. They’ll give SEC teams fits this season. FSU’s matchup with Miami on October 4th just got a lot more interesting. The Bama loss should push College Gameday to State College, PA on September 27th if OBD and Penn State remain undefeated. However, I’m not holding my breath. Once again, ESPN just can’t help themselves.
