  1. Dan Lanning is taking a lot of heat for his pre-game and halftime comments. This video provides some context as to why he was so fired up as we all know that warm-ups happen before the pre-game speech. The national media got a hold of this video and wrote a piece on it. MSN WWW.MSN.COM
  2. Oregon hasn’t decisively put away a ranked opponent since Mariota was QB. BYU and UCLA were looking promising last year but they both scored enough in the 2nd half to make things uncomfortable. Then, they blew a 21 point second half lead against the Beavers. During the Mario era they choked away potential huge blowouts against Stanford and Auburn and snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. 2016-17 should just be erased from memory. Finally, 2015 ended in the worst choke job in the history of bowl games. TBH, if I was a betting man, I wouldn’t count on the Ducks pounding a ranked team any time soon.
  3. Keep in mind that Utah is at home and playing against a true Freshman QB. He’s really good, but he’s untested. Rice-Eccles isn’t a great place to make your PAC-12 debut as a visitor.
  4. There are many factors that could lead to a close game or Ducks loss. The big one is a major injury and the others are caused by a a lack of focus and discipline(dropped passes, penalties, etc.). Both are mitigated by good coaching, depth at each position and a little luck.
  5. You didn’t need to be a blue blood to do NIL back in the day.
  6. Unfortunately, as long as they have Penix and their 3 stud WR’s they can beat anybody.
  7. I don’t expect a blowout at all. I’ve seen what a team with an OK defense and great QB with a pedestrian OL can do to higher ranked teams. There were quite a few games Oregon had no business winning if not for Vernon Adams. In fact, the Buffs remind me a lot of that 2015 Ducks team. Lots of dynamic players but not great in the trenches.
  8. I know it’s easy to pile on the guys that left Oregon, but Joe Moorehead didn’t do anything to develop our QB’s while he was here. One only needs to see the vast improvement in Tyler Shough at Tech and AB during the Ravens pre-season to figure that out. Dilly was great, but his focus was on Nix because they had rapport from a few years earlier. The bottom line is TT13 has had 3 OC/QBC’s in 3 years. He seems more comfortable under Stein. Hopefully he sticks around for a minute or two.
  9. He’s a great story and all, but if DL and his staff could sign a couple of LB’s like Roquan Smith and Nakobe Dean that would be pretty nice.
  10. They both have a few things in common. They’re both fairly new to D1 head coaching and both accomplished fishermen. DL likes to fly fish and if you skip to the 7:10 mark on his 60 Minutes interview you hear Deion say “I fish…and I’m fly while I fish”. Deion has actually won a celebrity bass tournament, so he can back up what he says.
  11. And the PAC 2 wonders why everybody left for other conferences.
  12. It’s a 10:00 MT kickoff in Boulder. That’s rough for both teams, but especially for USC. Sleeping in hotel beds, kickoff temps in the 50’s and a 9:00 PT start doesn’t make for optimal conditions. I can hear Trojan fans already…”Why does Oregon get the cushy time slot?!”
  13. He’s apparently out for a few weeks due to a dirty hit against CSU. I would’ve like to see how Oregon did against him. Colorado's Travis Hunter exits after halftime, taken to hospital - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Colorado's Travis Hunter will likely miss "a few weeks" after leaving Saturday night's win over...
  14. Lane might finally get a win against his “daddy” this year.
  15. If he rolls into Oregon week with the “it’s personal” schtick then we’ll know for sure that he’s reaching. In my opinion, he won’t do that. He’s too smart. He knows people will see right through it and he doesn’t want to give the Autzen crowd a reason to be louder than they’re going to be. My guess is he will be very complimentary and call it a “business trip”.
  16. Ducks 45-24 2 TO’s 1 Sack 269 yards passing Once again I think DL plays vanilla defense to get ready for Colorado.
  17. I will admit that Jay Norvell might be onto something with his comments. He basically told his guys “I just wrote a check that you guys are going to have to cash”. He’s forcing his guys to fight or back down. If anything, the game will be salty. There is a high chance of cheap shots, ejections, etc. I will be watching this one for sure. Norvell is obviously angry about having to pull his players out of game prep to have them interview with ESPN for the Gameday sequences. He’s also angry because it’s all happening because he got sucked into the “Deion Show”. Read his quote in this article and you will see that he’s pretty salty about Deion getting a HC position strictly because of his fame while he had to wait forever for his shot. This is his one and only chance to hype himself and his program. I have to say that it’s a good start. His comments about Deion won the internet today. Jay Norvell jabs at Deion Sanders ahead of Colorado rivalry game - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Colorado State coach Jay Norvell took a jab at Deion Sanders, saying, "When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off."
  18. If a team needs quotes and pictures on a bulletin board to get them motivated to win a game then they’re not that good to begin with. Great players stay focused and play in the moment and I’m sure Deion knows that. His guys will be ready nonetheless. However, Deion also knows that controversy get the fans and media all lathered up and focuses attention on him and his team. Attention is great for money and recruiting. He’s been a master of marketing and promotion for almost 40 years. He’s like a Don King and Jake Paul all rolled into one. It’s quite genius, actually.
  19. That was more of a slam on their entire athletic program. They can’t win in the Pac, so they headed back to their old conference. If they take it personally then that’s their problem. Just play football and don’t lose composure when they start yapping. Oregon isn’t TCU, Nebraska or CSU. The Ducks will have just as much to prove as Colorado does.
  20. I know why they dropped the “Rainbow” from men’s sports, but since it delves into politics, I will let you guys figure that one out on your own. However, they have since had a change of heart and are now called the Rainbow Warriors. They’ve been known to go back to their retro uniforms which look pretty cool.
  21. Did Burch play last night? I noticed he didn’t record a stat. I also had multiple games going with no sound so I didn’t have my full attention on the Ducks game.
  22. I’ve been to a night game at Jones Stadium (Texas in 2000). This played out almost the exact same. I like Tyler Shough because he’s an alum, but I’m glad he was throwing passes for Tech at the end.
  23. Miami is forcing those mistakes by A&M. Their defense is darn good. Two of the Aggie TD’s are off of TO’s on special teams.
  24. It’s probably holding 40-45K right now. Good by last year’s standards, but that’s how much Oregon had for PSU. Aggie fans travel pretty well, so I would say they’re making up a decent amount of the attendance. Mario has his defense playing pretty good and his offense looks a lot more creative. His team just needs to clean up the untimely penalties.
