  1. The thing is Ryan Day did recognize the 12th man, but all he did was tell the refs that there was a 12th man on the field. Had he known the rules better he could've called timeout or had his QB run the play clock down to 0. Then, he would've gotten five yards with no time off the play clock.
  2. Quick question. Which player was Hall? I know some OSU fans are griping about there being one second left when Howard slid, but he didn’t get a first down so the clock kept running because nobody called a timeout fast enough. In fact it would be virtually impossible.
  3. Dennis Erickson did this to Rick Neiuheisel back in 2009 right before halftime. It only gets noticed when it’s a big game involving a blue blood. The good thing is the cat is out of the bag, so it can never be used against Oregon. However, we got a big win out of it.
  4. I’m sure that apology was for the public. I would be very surprised if he didn’t make some personal phone calls.
  5. Remember last year after Oregon lost in Seattle? All everybody was talking about was how the Ducks were actually the better team and would beat them in a rematch. Well, that rematch came and Washington was the better team. Hyping a rematch is not necessarily a bad thing for the talking heads.
  6. I’m sure Chip tried to prepare his offense for this, but he probably got the “Yeah, yeah. We’ve played at Penn State and Michigan, so we know how to deal with noise”.
  7. I remember how insufferable the Wisconsin fans were after the 2020 Rose Bowl because of how their final drive ended. There were bad calls on both sides in that game. Folks were posting pictures of KT getting held and even tackled on his way to the QB during scoring drives. There is a lot of recency bias when questionable calls come at the end of games.
  8. I chalked the commentary up to familiarity. Todd Blackledge is a Penn State guy who grew up in Ohio. I can’t recall him ever doing many Oregon games before Saturday.
  9. Full disclosure. I have 3 great loves when it comes to sports. Oregon football, Gonzaga basketball (hey, Mark Few was a Duck), and Texas Rangers baseball. Between 2010 and 2022 I watched all 3 go to the championship games/series two times each and they all lost. All were heartbreaking, but the 2011 World Series was the worst (one strike away in the 9th and 10th innings). All three teams went from being lovable losers to up-and-comers to contenders in a short amount of time relatively speaking. Being a fan of a contender is way more stressful than the other two. It’s harder to expect to win every game than it is to hope for an upset. While it’s hard to lose championship games, I would much rather hope for a championship than hope for an upset.
  10. From many of the camera angles it looked like Ohio State had upwards of 15K-20K fans. That’s pretty impressive if it was that loud.
  11. Did anybody see Jon Peters there?
  12. Kiffin also choked one away in a heartbreaker if hating on Lane is still chic.
  13. Don’t forget the three points that River Boat Dan refused to take when he decided to go for it on 4th and goal. Then again, the special teams have been pretty iffy inside 20 yards.
  14. I bet his favorite part of the game was “A little bit softer now”.
  15. Next weekend he’s playing against the coach who ran him off from Oregon. I wonder if he’s motivated to win?
  16. Language Warning!!! You can mute the sound and still get a good feel for the average OSU fan.
  17. I thought he learned his lesson last year in Seattle. I guess he figured he would get another shot at OSU if he lost, but he’s not the kind of guy I’m taking gambling advice from.
  18. This is true. Purdue found their offense against a ranked Illinois team (49 points) on the road. I would hate for OBD to pull a “Bama” in West Lafayette on Friday night. I trust that DL will get them re-focused.
  19. I live in NC and I can’t swing a dead cat around here and not hit somebody wearing Ohio State gear. I may throw on my loudest Duck shirt and head over to the Harris Teeter and pick up some victory beer.
  20. Herbie rarely picks against his alma mater.
  21. I was at the NCSU/Syracuse game tonight, but I was following this game. Nearly half of the Wolfpack fans left at halftime despite being down by a FG. Oregon fans may have done this in the Chip Kelly era when we were up by 4 TD’s, but I have never seen Autzen empty out during a close game. A conference doesn’t make the team
  22. This is my 2nd time picking against the Ducks at home. I’m happy to be wrong, but I am also trying to win a contest. I’m glad all of the Buckeye fans at Autzen didn’t get their money’s worth.
  23. He’s officially “questionable” for the game tonight. The injury seems to be more significant than they first thought.
  24. I think the game will sell over 60K with standing room only. Ohio fans will probably be about 30-35%. The stands will look an awful lot like 2013 Tennessee and 2017 Nebraska.
  25. Everyone is going to have to be extra loud. I’m hearing there will be upwards of 20-25K Ohio State fans at Autzen on Saturday.
