  1. Yes, some of his decisions were risky. Probably they cost us the OSU game. Flip side, what if he doesn't onside kick against UCLA? Do we win?
  2. The "question" was completely tongue in cheek.
  3. He needs to be careful not to run afoul of state hiring practices. Doesn't the job need to be posted for a period of time prior to an offer?
  4. I only watched the first little bit but he may have made his decision with his heart rather than his head. I've done that a few times although I don't remember any that worked out that well.
  5. It all boils down to proximity to recruits. Most schools with legitimate CFP aspirations are close to fertile recruiting grounds. Their coaches may be one the road overnight or a couple nights. At Oregon they often are gone several days at a stretch. It has an impact on their family life and, IMO, leads to coaching turnover. As I remember when Oregon recruited primarily regionally they had a long tenured staff. They could fly to LA, spend two days visiting recruits and only be gone one night. Now they are often lucky to get home for the weekend.
  6. And all except Sitake turned Oregon down. Well, not sure they approached Urban with his baggage.
  7. Maybe he wants to be about a thousand miles closer to friends and family, Andrew.
  8. I suspect recruiting plays a part. Oregon has a national approach which translates to weeks on the road, especially when you start from a small town on the west coast. I'm sure all the time away from family is a hardship.
  9. The problem is the NCAA restrictions on who can actually work with the players. Many (most, all?) analyst positions cannot.
  10. I wonder who the deep pocketed boosters wanted Mullins to hire? With the exception of Lincoln Riley and Kalen DeBoer how many long term home run hires to you see in the list of 2021-22 coaching changes? 2021-22 NFL and College Head Coaching Changes - Footballscoop FOOTBALLSCOOP.COM Here's our annual page where you can track all of the NFL and college head coaching movement for the 2021-22 coaching cycle.
  11. I'm to old to remember all the recent year end coaching turmoil. Don Pellum demoted, Brady Hoke hired. Somebody else on staff must had departed. Helfrich fired, entire staff replaced. Slick Willie gives Oregon the tomahawk chop. Did anybody go with him? Jim Leavitt fired. Andy Avalos resigns (or forced out). Marcus Arroyo resigns. Mario Cristobal resigns, entire staff departs. Kenny Dillingham resigns. I count at least 28 departures since the start of 2016 and the musical chairs season hasn't even started for this year. Who am I missing over the last six or seven years?
  12. Agreed. While we all rave about the transformation of Bo Nix I think we saw regression on the part of Ty Thompson and who knows what from Jay Butterfield. One could easily argue maturity and a change in scenery had as much to with Bo's improvement as Kenny Dillingham. At best KD was only effective with one of his three pupils.
  13. I admit to archaic views but I don't believe you should be finalizing your next gig when you should be focused on the most important part of the season. How much of the players lack of focus goes back to the example set by Mr. Dillingham?
  14. Did he bother to take the bus back to Eugene?
  15. An offensive player with a history of questionable decisions. Isn't that who Mario chewed out on TV? Lanning had a barb about him in one of his press conferences. Was he distracted by a coaching change?
  16. I remember the game in general but not the details. I think it garnered a NCAA record for biggest collapse.
  17. And at one point they turned it over on downs on the Pitt eleven yard line.
  18. I think special teams has performed satisfactorily all year. Today their heads were not in the game, almost like they had a distraction. If all the reporters knew KD was leaving you know the team did.
  19. I will go on the record early. Perhaps a seasoned, experienced OC would help this staff immensely. An adult in the room as it were, we could have used one today.. On another note a brief glimpse of the in game interaction between Lanning and Lupoi appeared strained. Really curious how that relationship is working.
  20. Let's get all the facts, more than a 10 second video clip. As posted earlier I saw an Oregon player in the middle of the OSU fans rushing the field. At least one of the orange clad group was screaming at the Duck player and following him as he tried to exit. Not an excuse but I believe we need to know more.
  21. This has eerie similarity to another first time head coach. I think we will find out rather quickly what Dan Lanning is made of.
  22. I noticed some OSU fans in the face of another Oregon player when they stormed the field. I was worried he might react to the very obvious taunting. Doesn't excuse DJ's reported actions
  23. A link from LADuck deserves its own thread. Report: Oregon OC Kenny Dillingham Finalizing Contract as Arizona State Head Coach BLEACHERREPORT.COM Oregon Ducks offensive coordinator Kenny
