  1. A question for those who study X and O's. How often do we see in game adjustments? Thinking back to the Bellotti/Kelly years it seems the opposing offense might be very effective at the start of the game but, either after a couple series or after halftime, yards became much more difficult. This year it appears the emphasis is to "steal" a possession rather than change defensive tactics. Saturday Washington's receivers were as wide open in the fourth quarter as they were on the opening drive. Michael Penix still had plenty of time to survey the field. Oregon had little hope of getting a stop. Perhaps they are maximizing the abilities of the existing roster but I would expect more for a $5.1 million investment over three years. Deja vu all over again? Why Tosh Lupoi leaving Alabama was long expected WWW.AL.COM The inside story on why Alabama defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi left for the Cleveland Browns.
  2. I thought at the time the mutt also may have tried to hit Bo in the groin while they were on the ground.
  3. Senior Women's Administrator with a solid background. Johnson Joins Senior Staff As SWA - University of Oregon Athletics GODUCKS.COM Experienced local college administrator Valerie Johnson has been named Deputy Athletics Director, Senior Women's Administrator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
  4. Why take a job with the Sword of Damocles hanging over your head? In addition to a depleted roster and pending sanctions the Athletic Director is on thin ice, having recently received the dreaded vote of confidence from the ASU president. The tweet quoted below speaks volumes. Anderson is under contract through February of 2026. Anderson himself had been ambiguous about his role in hiring ASU’s new football coach, saying he’d be involved but didn’t know “the structure” of how the process would work.
  5. For Musgrave probably not. More often than not he was let go from his NFL coaching positions, either by outright firing or not being retained by a new staff. Looks like about ten jobs in roughly 24 years of coaching.
  6. Former Duck fired by a former Duck.
  7. Yes the pass defense was bad, often appearing to believe the rules prevent getting within five yards of the receiver. However Penix had amazing touch on a couple of his throws. One of the long TD's and the throw to the sidelines I thought for sure were way too long, only to have them drop nicely into the receivers hands. It's difficult to overcome perfection.
  8. Hmm, think I should probably run up the middle out of the shotgun. What could go wrong?
  9. What I don't understand is why not call some running plays for TT? We already suspect he can't pass but why not let him run, he is physically capable?
  10. Wasn't that Jimmy Lake? What frightens me is imagining how this game would look if it wasn't played at Autzen. Even with an amped up home crowd and everything to play for I thought Washington was more focused.
  11. Wendy Ray and Mike Stone are the two notable names prior to Jerry Allen that I remember. Wendy Ray was great, still remember him calling a game at the Air Force Academy in the late '60's. Fog rolled in, he couldn't see the field (no spotter in those days), so he just ad libed based on crowd noise. Not sure what else he could do. From Wiki KUGN news- and sportscaster Wendy Ray, already a veteran sportscaster, took the microphone in 1960 as the Ducks' basketball announcer, when KUGN got the broadcast rights to that sport from local rival KASH. When Tasnady retired from broadcasting prior to the 1962 football season, Ray stepped in as football announcer, and called both sports up through the 1969 Oregon-Oregon State "Civil War" football game. Color commentator Mike Guldager stepped in as play-by-play announcer for the season finale at Hawaii, and then announced Ducks basketball and football until 1973. Ray returned to Oregon Ducks play-by-play for one season (1974–75) as football and basketball announcer. He also served as color commentator for new play-by-play announcer Warren Swain in the 1980 football season. Outside radio, Ray was the longtime public address announcer for Oregon track and field meets at Hayward Field. Other KUGN "voices" of University of Oregon sports were Bud Sobel (1973–74), Ralph Petti (football, 1975), Mike Stone (1975–80), Swain (1980–82), Portland sportscaster Bill Johnson (1982–84) and Hal Ramey (1984–87).
  12. No eligibility but not a bad addition.
  13. Doesn't appear to be the case---yet. From the past hour, although I think he may be a bit defensive.
  14. Possible transfer to augment our injured bigs?
  15. Agreed. It would be interesting to know the background of that statement. Anyone?
  16. If he had the courage to defend head coach Jerry Frei and his staff the lost decade of the '70's might have been different. On the other side of the ledger he brought in Dick Harter and basketball mania to Eugene .
  17. Not really worried. Cole's father is Oregon DB coach Demetrice Martin.

  19. I agree the early results from Dan Lanning and crew exceed expectations. The future looks bright. We have a dynamic offense led by a talented quarterback, fun to watch. Didn't we see this before? Less than ten years ago Mark Helfrich received the same accolades. He was a bargain, we needed to rework his contract to ensure he would be here long term. Sadly that didn't work out as expected. I'm not equating Helfrich to Lanning. Personally I think DL has a much higher ceiling. I also think we need to tread carefully when throwing around millions of dollars. Get a larger body of work to evaluate. I'm fairly certain fans from Michigan State and TAMU, among others, feel the same.
  20. Big recruiting weekend coming together at Oregon for Top25 showdown with Washington 247SPORTS.COM The latest here.
  21. Second or third visit for Mr. Hicks, he officially visited last June. Reportedly earned high marks from from both the recruit and his father at the time. Encouraging he is willing to pay his own way for another look.
  22. For those who are nostalgic. Mike Leach is not a fan of his wide receivers sitting down on the sidelines, so he removed their chairs - Footballscoop FOOTBALLSCOOP.COM The Mississippi State head coach also brought back a classic (?) line from his Texas Tech days.
  23. Miami didn't do MC any favors. Most of the roster either came to play for Manny Diaz or knew him from his time as DC. Making his continued employment contingent on whether Mario accepted the job offer or not would obviously lead to resentment from many of the returning players.
