  1. 2 B1G teams and 2 SEC in playoff sounds good every year (lately with Michigan's revival) but 12-1 and win Pac, likely in, or 13-0 and we will be in. Pac will be a gauntlet though, mutts and utes on the road, TTU will not be cake
  2. I agree, glad I'm not the only one who thought things stalled a bit a few times when he came out. But... keeping a rotation to some degree may keep the energy up and potentially reduce injuries. How that RBBC time is divided up...maybe a bit more Bucky this year but keep him fresh. Red zone...yes please. Maybe the big back can get more reps too outside of 3rd and 1, he seems to have a lot of upside for more every-down situations.
  3. It's the women I'm concerned with...
  4. Can't disagree with all of the above, but 13-0 is possible. Offense I think will be even better. Defense couldn't be much worse, I think there will be a lot of improvement Special teams, same thing BUT...very young team, will have mistakes, but veterans on Offense (Nix and others) will be a plus, Transfers on D bring experience, it's just how fast can they gel, and same with O-line, new O-line coach Pac 12 will be good except for the officiating and TV deal UW and Utah on the road is tough, especially for a young team but we have the talent, and I think DL will have grown as a coach UW in Seattle = revenge, USuC at Autzen = wild. Beav rats too, at home. 9-3 is possible, hopefully not worse. TTU in Lubbock no cake walk. 10-2 likely, which could still be in the Pac12 CG, win that and it's Rose Bowl. 11-2, 11-1, 12-1...all possible. Playoffs? Playoffs? Yes, but would that be an embarrassing loss, or would a Rose Bowl win be more fun? '23 is going to be fun. I have my defibrillator charging up now...
  5. O-line hire, O-line rebuild, Nix stays healthy...check. Special teams makes enough improvement to help squeak out close ones...check. Defense. I think it'll be way better. Does it need to be top 25? Maybe not if the offense can put up 40+ in playoff level games, but will 45 be enough if the defense gives up 48 or 49 to the AlabamaClemsonGeorgia-tOSU level teams? Think we can win the Pac, and with one loss would very likely make the dance. What happens there TBD
  6. Looking at the chart, we are set up well this year and next, with a lot of talent in the Fr/RFr area. There will be transfers out, and transfers in, which will be a net gain. QB is the golden question mark next year and beyond. TE needs help but I wouldn't be surprised if we add pieces in May. Smaller recruiting class perhaps for '24 with just 14 Seniors, but...the portal! Lanning and staff show up big this year the '24 class could be our first Top-5. Wouldn't need quantity either, just quality.
  7. 5 Stars don't always pan out, we see that a lot in Football...
  8. And we'll be one of those prolific offenses. .the Pac will come down to the better D. I like the chances of OSU, Utah, and hopefully us, compared to UW or USuC. We'll have the talent if star ratings mean anything, the coaches, player development, and--Play Calling-- will perhaps decide. Bad play calling on offense perhaps cost us UW and OSU games. D needs a revamp, obviously, Lanning has "his guys" now. 13-0, let's see what we can do in the playoffs
  9. Yeah no surprise, I too am only surprised he didn't leave earlier. Seems like a good kid, was a 4* but just never seemed to get on the field. There are more coming I suspect, getting to 85 won't be a problem. Lanning and staff will get us some great players. Excited for year 2.
  10. I will say, in a couple years could Lanning vs Kirby Smart his old boss and defensive mentor...be meeting in the finals a la Bama vs Clemson year after year? The recruiting has me intrigued--and more excited than ever before--as well. Let see if they can develop the players, unify the team, and pull out some epic X's and O's on game day. 💛💚
  11. Like they admit...WAY too early!!! The February signing day and May portal action hasn't happened yet
  12. Pretty fair, I think tOSU would destroy TCU fwiw. Did anyone see that article about how 2021 had a record number of teams in the pre-season top-25 that didn't finish in the top 25? 15 teams I think? Then, 2022...beat it by one (16 teams?). Too many of us will click on stuff all winter spring and summer because we love college football, but I still vote for no polls until week 5. At least with a playoff committee the right teams probably get in most of the time, whereas the BCMess often formulated bias caused by a team being higher ranked in August (or more specifically, lower) than when it counted in December. A lot of these "way too early" polls are predicated too much on how things ended this year...some right, some way off. We win the Pac at 12-1 or 13-0 and we are probably in...just fix that D and keep the offense rolling! Bo for Heismann '23, GO DUCKS
  13. GA was a point shy of covering the over/under by themselves???
  14. We just need to go into SLC and get good pressure on him, stop the run, and quiet the crowd with a Heismann-surging Nix when we play them.
  15. The coaches know the rules, surely they have a plan, it will be just fine this fall.
  16. Hard to win a basketball game when you can't shoot and can't pass, and can't rebound.
  17. Looks like he'd have 3 years to play 2. I guess we load up on the D Line and the guys who make the 2-deep stay and maybe others transfer out unless they are younger and project to play more the next year? I suppose we'd have a pretty awesome D Line in that case, all these big recruits and transfers...earn it on the field. We certainly need a drastically better pass rush, especially if the strategy is to rush just 4 most of the time and go Cover 2. As David Marsh's article today points out, that alone could make a HUGE difference. Having high level guys to do it is why it worked at Georgia last year, Lanning's D there was historically good...
  18. The comparison to the beavers is a good one, their head coach is an offensive guy, his defensive assistants must be pretty good. They have recruited only a couple of players above the 3 star level going back years. We have far superior talent, so it must have something to do with coaching and player development. Mari showed over 4 years very little of the latter except with the O-line. Lanning just needs a year or two and recruiting his guys. As someone said above, Rome was not built in a day and I agree, and expect a big improvement on D in 2023!
  19. Praying for his recovery. Didn't look like a hard shot, like Dale Earnhardt's crash looked like a minor spin-out and bump.
  20. If he's that talented get him. We'll figure out which team or scholarship he gets
  21. Go Longhorns! All I'm going to say
  22. Lanning will hopefully find another top notch recruiter to fill this void at Oregon yet again...hopefully, and perhaps more importantly, a really good coach at developing players for their position.
