THE TOP 25 CFP RANKINGS HAVE ARRIVED‼️
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What? 12, 13 & 25 get no luv? lol -
I have NO idea how the writer came up with that one! -31 over Colorado, they're home against UW & Utah in a place they seldom lose and on the road against the Beavers. I'd say their chances are 50-50 at the least, including the Championship game - if they make it there. Sounds more like wishful thinking to me than thoughtful analysis.

Adding to the CHAOS: Six teams that could cause CFP chaos WWW.YARDBARKER.COM LSU, North Carolina, Kansas State and North Carolina walk into the College Football Playoff... No, that isn't the start of a joke. Right now, a 12-team Playoff is beginning to look like it's the only possibility going forward if the NCAA wants to keep the egg from running off it's own face.

I'd maybe agree with Charles on this contention of the "best offense ever" except for one glaring issue: "red zone efficiency". Oregon is still, (after 8 games) struggling to get the ball in the end zone once they're inside the 20. And it's puzzling as all get out to me. Outside the 20, esp. around the 40, lights out!

Georgia LB Nolan Smith Lost For This Weeks Game With Tennessee
Mic replied to DazeNconfused's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If the loss of one player, no matter how good, swings the game then Georgia isn't Championship material. I think Georgia is deeper than that but we'll see, I suppose. Due to the loss suffered in Atlanta, I have to pull for Georgia tho I'd probably prefer to see Tennessee win the game otherwise. -
All those things could (and are even likely) to happen. I actually think the 4-team Playoff did little, if anything, to solve the National Championship dilemma but only underscored the absurdity of it. What it's going to take to get things changed is for a few of these SEC & ACC "powerhouses" to get left out for a couple teams they feel are inferior to themselves. And they tend to feel everyone is inferior to them.

Deion Sanders? Not if Auburn is serious about getting competitive in the SEC again. He's fine where he's at Jackson State but at Auburn the "Deion Sanders Show" will get in the way of actually making Auburn back into a serious contender. imo
-
Evidently he was either a piece that didn't fit, or an extra piece not needed. Or maybe the effort and commitment wasn't there enough to suit the coaches. We'll likely never know but it wasn't likely because he didn't have the talent to make this team. Good luck to him. Just hope he doesn't transfer to another school in the Pac.

I think you misunderstand what I did a bad job of asking. I think Georgia (IF they lose to Tennessee) will absolutely need Oregon to win out to give them a nod over other 1-loss teams like Michigan (if they lose to Ohio St) and Ohio State (if they lose to Michigan) and an unbeaten TCU & Clemson. How do you keep two unbeaten teams like Clemson & TCU (assuming they go unbeaten) out of the CFP and how do you give Georgia the nod over either Ohio State or Michigan (assuming those teams finish with 1 loss)? The SEC Champion will go and if it's Alabama in a rematch then Georgia would have to have a reason to get the nod for one of the remaining 3 spots over a 1-loss Ohio St or Michigan (one will beat the other) and two possibly unbeaten teams in TCU & Clemson. It's still confusing because I can't expostulate it clearly. But I think the Bulldogs may need Oregon at least as much as Oregon needs them. Oh ... the quirks of collegiate football, esp with this silly 4-team playoff system.

Tomorrow the CFP standings come out. Rankings now have Georgia (1), Ohio State and Tennessee (tied for 2), Michigan (4), Clemson (5) 1-loss Alabama (6) and unbeaten TCU (7) 1-loss Oregon (8). OK. Now, what happens to Georgia IF Tennessee upsets (?) them next Saturday? And what then happens after the Michigan/Ohio St game when one has to lose? And what happens to Clemson if they stumble against ND? In other words, what if Georgia ends the season with one loss, identical to Alabama, a 1-loss Michigan or Ohio State and/or Clemson and an unbeaten TCU? Does Georgia need Oregon to finish 12-1 with a Conference crown to make the final 4 in the CFB Playoffs? (And then, what about Oregon?) If I'm a Bulldog fan I'm rooting my little heart out for Oregon to roar to the finish line so that my 49-3 'ace-up-my-sleeve' brings me over the finish line - just in case Tennessee spoils the party next Saturday.

Nothing, and Lanning & Co. are mum. But right now Oregon has almost too many RB's available. We're probably seeing the best 3 or 4 for the system Dillingham is running. James the goal-line back, Irving & Whittington the 2 workhorse backs and Dollars the wildcard back. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that Sean Dollars is being groomed for specific plays that his talents work best for. I don't really know where Cardwell would fit in among this bunch right now. What do you do with too many running backs? What a problem to have, eh?

Certainly looks like they're having fun in this new Lanning/Dillingham system of things. -
Seeking Help From OBD Fans: Understanding the Linebacker Puzzler
Mic replied to PittDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Could be several things. a) Great D-line play in not allowing the opponent's RB's to get to that 2nd level as often, b) Opponents attacking over the top into what was perceived at the beginning of the season (and esp after that game in Georgia) as a major weakness for O. The fact that it hasn't been hasn't stopped teams from trying. c) They are playing better but O is swarming to the ball more and making more team tackles. Funa won one of O's Pac-12 D-line Player of the week honors and Dorlus has won two. That's happened because not as much is getting by them. -
LA Times Columnist: Pac-12, Big 12 Punishing USC, Texas?
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Can't speak for the SEC refs but we all know how ridiculous the Pac-12 refs are at times. Nothing new there. Did penalties cost those two tams a win on the road? Maybe. But don't they always cost the teams that commit them? And isn't Oregon often leading in those ridiculous calls Yes. Sorry USC, Texas. Dam_ed hard to start feeling sorry for you two now. Especially these two. Texas can just "Cry me a (red) river". -
Bo Nix named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the week for week 8 while Forsyth was named Offensive Lineman of the Week. This brings a total of 7 Pac-12 honors to Oregon this season joining Dorlus (2) Funa (1) and T.J. Bass (2). Nix' 5 TD's against a top 10 ranked team with 0 ints. makes him only the 2nd player to ever do so, joining USC's Matt Leinert for that honor. The season is barely half-way over and with the Ducks now Bowl eligible and heading for the post=season, who knows where this could all go? What a change from that Week 1 game from he_l, eh?

There's always: "Wow! Did you see that!" GO OREGON.! If you need more ideas, just call...
-
I hope you're right. (psssssttt... I'd also hope we flipped D.C.'s...... shhhuuuusssh)
-
Now that's funny! But, hey! who knows, eh? I'd prefer Oregon builds their own QB from here on out, but I'm gonna trust Lanning & Co. to make the right decision on those matters. I'm done with second-guessing anything that man does anymore. And I'm done with betting against the Ducks. That 2x4 over-the-head hurts!

Your (literally) running off the chart (above) PennDuck. lol

Effects of Saturday's game? Who knows? -
Finally! Some real good news. Oregon has got a lot of work to do to replace our departing O & D lineman. This is a start.

At least the guy admitted to his former bias having grown up in the South (Georgia). 1st time out to Autzen and he walks right smack dab into the 60,000 (nearly) Duck sound wall. And now he's a believer? Well, he also watched O hand UCLA their lunch by the end of the 3rd qtr. That'll do it.
