After game thoughts here!

Thank goodness for the bye week. Hope the coaches use it to get the players healthy and fresh for the Washington game and beyond.

Eight weeks without a bye is showing.

But that defense is legit.

My thoughts- Oregon can play a crappy game at night 2000 miles from home and still beat a very physical team although offensively challenged, in one of the most rowdy stadiums in the US.

This team is tired, you can see it but they did enough to win. How many other teams have had to play two months with no break and as someone said all the other teams had byes. They are tough and will gain from this. This defense really can play in this conference, in the past they wouldn't have won this game. Wisconsin's defense is extremely good.

I’d prefer to go back to being bored

Players are beat up and tired. The 8 week stretch we knew was going to be difficult is finally over, and we are still standing tall.

Great job!!!

This is what No.1 teams do. I didn't think they would lose, more importantly the Ducks didn't think they would. The offense wasn't working and a lot of credit for that has to go to Wisconsin. Scoring in the 3rd quarter is really good sometimes. Matayo was the star of the game.

Dang. I had the champagne on ice for my prediction contest win.

Now that my blood pressure has come back under control, I have got to be happy with 11-0.
I do have to wonder if missing Harper has messed up our O-line and messes up the offense even more than we miss Tez.

I'll just say that most, if not all, other Oregon teams would have lost that game.  These games are the ones that elite teams win.

This win was very “2023 Washington Huskies”. Those guys escaped multiple losses.

It could, but in this game for sure, I think Tez was really missing. I just don't think the offense goes stagnant with him on the field,

Hopefully the Ducks go 1 game better.

Did Oregon just clinch a place in the BIG CCG?

Holy cow, hope Caldwell is ok. He has (perhaps a bit quietly) been superb.

Well that was... something. I'll take the win, but our offense needs to figure stuff out this week and become more on par with our defense.

I will say that I'm very proud of OBD for fighting through adversity and sticking it out to get the win. Even though it was a close game it was still a good learning experience, and there will be many lessons learned.

Game ball should be split between the defense and Atticus Sappington. 🦆

Now let's hope they fix that offense up so when they face the mutts in 2 weeks they can light them up at home, and Dan will get his first win against the purple puppies.

 Let's Go Ducks!!

Yes!

Oregon is headed to the conference title game in its first season as a member ... but it wasn't easy

Tonight was the final regular season B1G game across two time zones.  No more this regular season.  No blizzard games that I can recall.

The traveling teams were 8-18 (5 wins by teams going West to East)

3-0 - Oregon

2-1 - UCLA

0-3 - USC

0-4 - UW

The other 3 wins were East to West:  Indiana, Minnesota, Penn St

Never A Doubt! 😍

8 for 8 and finally, a nap. No team in B1G time CFB this season was asked to do This. Plus add on Maryland off a bye and Wisconsin off a bye. And two trips East in the last three weeks.

This is great coaching. In its last dozen Prime Time games in Camp Randall vs. ranked opponents, Wisconsin was 10-2. Now, 10-3.

Puddles have a nice nap, and then Hose the Huskies! It's too bad that OBD can't micturate in UWho's Sun Bowl.  😁

Jordan James played with great heart.  Probably his best game, considering the opposition he faced.

But that defense is legit.

To be fair the offense takes every 3rd quarter off. So the offense has had about 2 games worth of byes due to not competing in the 3rd quarter. ,

Of course, we still have:

Distance from Columbus Ohio to Indianapolis:

176 miles: 2 hours and 38 minutes

Distance from Eugene Oregon to Indianapolis:

2,281 miles: 34 hours

I guess Indiana could beat tOSU, but then it is:

57 miles and 61 minutes versus 2,281 miles and 34 hours

It would have been a bit easier if we had played Mercer or one of the other cupcakes that oh so tough sec destroyed today. It was almost like a conference game

Alabama played Mercer today. Kick em out of the top 10 for that kindergarten but kicking.

We beat Ohio State, and Michigan and Wisconsin at home, I wonder how many Big 10 teams have done that recently

Excerpt from one of those links:  "Barring any unlikely tie-breaking scenarios in the conference standings, Oregon will compete for the conference crown in Indianapolis."

I believe that is true.  If the Ducks lose to Washington, and a couple other games are upsets, Oregon could fall out of the 1 or 2 slot.   It is based on teams being tied with one loss 8-1 and the W-L records of teams they beat when there was no head-to-head among some of the one-loss teams.

So, the Ducks have clenched it, right?

2015 Michigan State beat Michigan and Ohio State on the road, and Penn State at home.  (They also beat Oregon at home).  They did not play Wisconsin.

Then, got demolished by Alabama

I think that CFB is more similar to the NFL than ever. This is why we see great teams not playing well against unranked teams. I think the really good coaches will rest players if they have a ticket to the playoff.

The Ducks would like to both clinch it and clench it.   But, there are who beat who scenarios involving 8-1 teams...not the head-to-head...but the W-L record of their 9 opponents where a loss to Washington could do damage.

Nobody wants to say it but the Ducks clinched a playoff spot tonight. Win or lose vs. the Fuskies.

The Takeaway from the Purple Pup People up North is that Phil Knight just won another one, and Gabriel's pants were too short.

I'm happy we made it out of their without a loss and no new major injuries.

The 8 games in a row, the travel, playing against rested teams while having that "top 5 team" target on their back makes it really tough to win and even tougher to look like you don't suck.

We look horrible on offense and it's a good example how thin the line is between success and failure. Tez is a huge loss to the skill position's ability to get first downs, and Bedford/Harper's chemistry to create consistent rushing lanes.

Whew. I think. Hard to tell a bit with Dan but it sounds good:

On Jamaree:

Lanning: "Yeah, he's doing good. In fact, he was laying down, he didn't realize we had interceptions, so I told him that. Fired him up. Obviously, you know, that was such a huge play by him, but I think he's doing good..."

You can run W-L scenarios at this link.   Though when I looked at it a little while ago it didn't have Rutgers beating Maryland.  Simply click on a team to change the highlighted winner then click the calculate standings button.   The guy's algorithm considers all the tie-breaker scenarios toward top two.

Canzano Comments About the Game:

"Oregon looked fatigued, and Wisconsin looked fresh."  Yep.

"That defense has been dominant all season. It has now held 9 of 11 opponents to 18 points or less. Only Ohio State and Boise State managed to eclipse that mark. That is impressive!

This is great coaching.

All except that last fake FG. DL should have taken the three to force Whisky to drive the field and score a TD.

There was something clenched during the majority of that game until the final two minutes alright.

Oregon was the only B1G team this season that had 8 consecutive B1G games without a bye.    USC had 7.  No other team had more than 6.

I really hate being a resident old guy but that game at Cal was great.  Chip’s FU clock-eating 3 yards and a cloud of dust drive to end that game was fantastic.  I loved that game.

I know I clenched more than once sitting in my living room this afternoon

This game against Wisconsin was like Kelly against Stanford and Mario against ASU and had upset written all over it but they won it on the road by winning the fourth quarter 10-0. That is impressive.

A little reminder for you young’ens.  I will go to my grave knowing that this 2010 game was one of the finest I have ever witnessed.  Uncle Cliffy returning that kick when it was obvious we were struggling moving the ball was a great moment.

This highlight video does not show the final ground and pound drive ending in a knee majesty like I would like, but it sort of works.

Tedford was a thorn in the side back then.

I found a situation where Oregon ends up 4th.  Highly unlikely, but it is there.

I've thought about that, but if we'd scored a FG we would have had to kick off and maybe there would have been a good run back (not likely maybe, but possible). As it was WI started from the 22 and we know what happened next. 🙂
