30Duck No. 1 Share Posted yesterday at 06:33 PM The Eye Test that the Committee is using failed big time here! Miami at 6, above Georgia at 7 was decided as simply as Georgia has a 2 in the right column and Miami has 1. But it wasn't that easy. It was worse. They apparently watched the games. They saw Georgia's "Tales of two Halves" vs Alabama, they also saw the, less than convincing win over Kentucky. But Georgia also soundly beat No.3 Texas at Texas! The Committee Chair stressed that the Committee goes beyond the simple W-L, it watches the games, sees how the teams look. Miami would look great if that's what you're using to rank the teams. But did they watch to the end of these games? None of them were against teams the level of Texas, (which is also a bit shaky) and to be as objective as possible, Miami benefited greatly from video review. On the Macro level we've seen that the seeding is problematic, on the micro level, Miami above Georgia is the opposite of Smart!
GeotechDuck No. 2 Share Posted yesterday at 06:55 PM (edited) I’ll go a step further and say that Georgia should be No. 3. I would bet Georgia against ND, Miami, and Penn State. And we know how they faired against Texas. Edited yesterday at 06:56 PM by GeotechDuck

DUCati855 Moderator No. 4 Share Posted yesterday at 07:06 PM I have issue with much of the current bracket. Hoping this weekends games shake it up some more. I find it interesting that (as it is) no SEC team needs to travel out it's own footprint. How is ND a seven seed when they have not been victorious over any team with a pulse?
Haywarduck Moderator No. 5 Share Posted yesterday at 07:07 PM What we know first hand, isn't widely understood. Many view Mariø as a coach in the same category as Lanning, maybe better. Ridiculous doesn't comes along too often, but when it does...
DanLduck No. 6 Share Posted yesterday at 08:51 PM It's clear "head-to-head" match ups don't count for much. How can any team be ranked higher then the team that beat them?! Clearly the standards the committee uses are not clear at all. Btw, Idaho is ranked 8th in the FCS and in their playoffs. BSU also ranked. So maybe our adjusting to a new O-line with a new qb wasn't so awful in our 1st two games.

DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 9 Share Posted 20 hours ago I can see it. UGA looked totally inept against two teams that have 3 bad losses this year. Bama and Ole Miss dominated them for 6 of 8 quarters.

Miami doesn't have any win close to that, and even if there was incontrovertible evidence to overturn calls at the end of 3 games in a row, No.6 should not have needed them to secure wins over, Virginia Tech, Cal and Louisville.
