Boy was I wrong. We got beat in the trenches, and that is where I thought we'd win. And Dante Moore ignored open receivers further downfield, and focused too much on the check-down option. Drives were stopped by not throwing to open receivers downfield, and by sacks given up by our offensive line.

I salute Indiana, as they were great in player performance, and coaching. But Oregon has much more upside, but can we attain it yet this season?

I hope they learn from this. It best to learn now than in the first playoff game (if there is one). Just like 2014, OBD know they have to win out. Hopefully, they respond.

Felt like Oregon came off the bye week with their B game.

This team has young leadership compared to last year. That young leadership needs a wake up call now and have them commit to improvement.

Certainly doesn't help things that Penn State just lost of Northwestern. Though I still think that they may have given up on their season at this point.

I don't know if receivers were covered all day, but it looked to me like Moore was taking too long to make a decision, holding the ball too long.

Obviously with Penn State losing to Northwestern, the Ducks hadn't played a top 20 team this year, looks like we're a little overrated. When was the last time the Ducks offense had scored 13 points in a game. Our defense did well, our offensive line got beat and obviously Moore was gun shy trying to get rid of the ball as soon as he could.

They need to be ATHLETIC not just heavy.--Make them run 100 laps around Hayward field?

It's hard enough to get beat, but it is even harder when we are out-hit and at our own house. Very depressing. (And I crawled out of a COVID hospital bed for this.)

Indiana did a great job with pressure.

OL was a concern and I don't this kind of game was outside the realm of possibility.

First time I've noticed some flashes of UCLA from Dante. 41 yards of offense before garbage time in the second half? Seems like he was feeling pressure at the snap and well, looked a bit panicked. Gun shy yes, but worse. In the game thread I joked I blame Chip.

Maybe I've gotten a bit spoiled with Nix and Gabriel? Got the pick 6 playing at home with momentum yet the game never shifted. I would have liked to have stuck with Davison at RB.

Good thing Ohio State showed us a loss here doesn't mean too much. The OL though. It's a veteran group (and should be trending the other way).

It feels as if the Ducks have regressed some, on both sides of the ball, since the second half of the Penn State game.

Coach Cig had his team better prepared than Lanning did and I’d say coached better during the game as well.

Didn’t see a plan B from Will Stein when the passing game got bottled up.

OBD may end up 11-1 or 10-2 maybe be a playoff team but that seems like the ceiling this year.

Are we 7 - 1 now having beat Penn St. x's 3? Or does UCLA get their 3rd win?

A disappointing loss to say the least, but now the team (and the fans) know where we stand. It's a young team, and regardless of how much Dan Lanning will say that it starts with him, the coaches, and the "poor" game planning, the reality is, we just got out worked. I think in hindsight, the signs were there during the Northwestern and PSU games, but it's easy to overlook them when we win. This team is very, very young, and in the era of NIL and Covid-carryover years, team age, maturity, and experience seems to matter quite a lot more than the number of stars next to the players' names.

How was Cignetti in the CFB coaching weeds before he was in his 60s? His turnaround of the losingest team in CFB history puts Bill Snyder on the bench. Indy is now 1-46 on the road vs. top 5 teams. 2-74 all time.

Last season's champ lost two regular-season games, and a Natty is still in sight. But, as the Good Doctor notes above, don't lose twice, don't screw up at Rutgers.

OBD's FG kicker missed what could have been a momentum-shifter FG at Penn State, and his chip shot miss today led to a 6-point end of the first half swing. In physical, smashmouth ball games, you can't miss these pressure kicks.

As for the dings at Dante above. It's hard to complete passes when folks, smaller than your O-line guys, but quicker, are in your face. When your 'better athletes' cannot separate from lesser athletes downfield, including a 5'9" CB who left no Ponds for Ducks to land in. When the play calling is timid all day, along with puzzling player personnel decisions, well?

But returning to sentence one above, you lose the LOS, you lose. OBD was outcoached. Lesser athletes won the day. Don't turn today into bad Knights.

I just found out that Allar is done for the year. He took a lot of abuse from his own fan base. Now they get to see what life is like without him.

Yeah, the O-line recruiting has been sub-par for several years now, we also have developed the talent we do have, it's hard for lines to come together when you have 3 guys who are completely new to the program.

We're just not that good in the trenches, D-line is good but not elite, and the linebackers are again good but not outstanding.

A lot of the warning signs were there, even if we do go undefeated I would say we should be left out, we won't have a single good win on the season.

Really disappointing to see.

Mario Cristobal is coaching better right now. I've looked at all their games. He is adjusting, despite having had a physical advantage in every game this year.

He kept Florida bottled in a close game till they wore them down. He jumped on FSU early, and coasted properly to the win.

We are not as physical as Miami, and at least 4 SEC teams. But we're as good. COACHING is going to be the difference. We haven't learned enough from the Rose Bowl. The Force is strong with us, but are not Jedis yet.

Our defense was nails.

Offense scored 13 points! I think IOWA scored more.

I see a lot of complaints about the O Line. It's not on them. They weren't losing their 1 on 1s enough to be the problem.

The problem is 90% Dante Moore, 10% not adjusting the blocking scheme with an extra blocker to pick up the pressure.

It's hard to say that a loss falls on one person but this was really bad.

If Dante Moore can't figure out how to pick apart a zone defense he will never be great and we will not win a natty with him, maybe not even a playoff game.

He has worked so hard since leaving UCLA to be the guy that doesn't take chances and takes what the defense gives him, but this was extreme. If the defenses is giving you a sack throw it away instead of going into the fetal position. 24 seconds left in the game down by two and he checked it down 4 straight times.

How could IU be rushing so many players, be consistently using 3 LINBACKERS, and we've got everyone out running routes, and nobody is open?

People were open, Dante Moore was too scared to throw it to them, or more specifically he wasn't capable of reading the defense well enough to know people were truly open.

Maybe if he was a gunslinger he would have thrown 3 more picks, but he has to learn how to handle zone coverage with confidence.

Will Stein is amazing, but he's not a miracle worker, he can't consistently design plays to get players in a space with nobody around for 5 yards.

Miami's OL is littered with OL recruited we "missed out on".

Still, our portal O-Line is good enough for us to win a national championship.

What did i learn from this? Oregon will lose at least 2 more games. Way too much hype. Time to stop playing way weaker opponents at the beginning of the season.

Hmmm. It's a football GAME. Today, the better team, the team that played better, won.

The bad O-line recruits? I believe Danno sent three O-line guys to the NFL last season. All five of the O-line guys who started today have a legit shot at the NFL. As does the starting TE who could be a 1st round pick.

The QB who couldn't spot wide-open receivers? I saw one guy wide, wide open, and Dante hit him for a TD. How many other guys were wide open when Dante had the time to throw the ball and were missed?

Today's game was a referendum on this game. The first loss to a B1G opponent that happened to be a top-10-ranked team, not UCLA and not Northwestern.

Please, OBD fans, do not turn into TOSU fans. The worst coach in the history of the game last November happened to be some guy named Day, right? The coach Dan lost to today has far more wins as a head coach than Dan.

This was game SIX in what could be a 16 or 17-game season. Perhaps this season's champ will go unblemished this season, but I very much doubt it.

I think a turning point in the game is when we ran Jay Harris on 4th & 1 like on thr 5th play of the game. Jay Harris? Really? He has hardly plsyed. Hill got only 2 carries? I don't understand.

Let Indiana and Ohio Stste battle in conference championship game. We have 3 big games Iowa USC & Washington. But first beat Rutgers. We can only lose 1 more game. Hopefully none!

We’re just not very good, relatively speaking. We have yet to beat a team with a pulse as PSU has lost 3 straight now. How good we are remains to be seen I suppose, but I’m guessing 9-3 at best.

Recruiting for the offensive line is simple. You just need to find fleet-of-foot 300+ pound guys who are among the highest IQ on the team.

In some points in life you have to just understand it wasn't your day. Indiana has really used the portal to infuse much needed talent and winning experience. This was their first ever road win vs a top ten opponent. They are now 1-40 in their history, Cignetti is a great coach. Props to them.

Losing happens to the best, what makes you the best is how you respond. You can go the way of a proven entity like Alabama or Ohio State and win the whole thing, or you can go the way of the PSU and FSU who let one loss turn into three.

I know which side I'm putting my potato chips into. The Mighty Ducks will bounce back like they did in all those Disney hockey movies. No Hawk, Iceland, or Hoosier is going to land a knockout blow. Ducks fly together, Ducks have a mission, and Ducks will never give up. The Hoosiers don't even have a mascot that knows what it is. The Bowling Green honorary cat Chubs makes more sense than that monstrosity we saw wondering the sidelines today. "Who's There?", apparently some hideous big foot looking creature found in the Disney reject bin.

Only two Oregon OL were selected in the NFL draft and I believe only one came to Oregon as a high school recruit (Conerly Jr.), who was primarily recruited by Mario but Lanning closed the deal.

How many of our current starting offensive lineman came to Oregon from high school (2?) vs. the transfer portal (3?)?

I would prefer that Oregon recruit and developed most of its offensive lineman with the occasional transfer to plug a gap. We have done the opposite for whatever reason.
