Posted January 10, 20232 yr Administrator Here we are my friends, the thread for discussing the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! The vast majority of you are GREAT in these GameDay threads, but you must remember that this forum is different, as we require civilized discussion. Rule No. 31d covers GameDay thread conduct, and it is not hard for the vast majority of us--just a tiny few who need to reign it in. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game! Mr. FishDuck

January 10, 20232 yr Moderator This will be over at halftime if TCU’s defense keeps playing like this.

January 10, 20232 yr Moderator TCU is down 31 at halftime. They’ve got Georgia right where they want them.
January 10, 20232 yr Moderator Georgia might as well establish the scoring record for a National Championship game.

Speaking of which - Georgia could've scored considerably more in OBD beatdown, but IMHO Kirby Smart was just having mercy on his former DC and let his foot off the gas in the later stages of the game lol.
January 10, 20232 yr 45-7.... ? Phew! No recognizable sign of Georgia taking a boot off TCU's collective neck, yet!
January 10, 20232 yr Bennett hits the bench with 12 minutes left, and the playbook seems to be wide open... Does anyone believe Oregon would have had a much better opportunity vs Georgia with the second string QB? Sheesh! Edited January 10, 20232 yr by woundedknees
January 10, 20232 yr 59 to 7 with 9:40 to go??? The bulldogs only beat the Ducks by 46. Does that mean the mighty Ducks were better defensively than TCU?
January 10, 20232 yr Moderator It wouldn’t be a stretch to think that GA prepared for the Duck game as if it were the CFP championship. And the Ducks def fared better. Just sayin…

January 10, 20232 yr What really hurt was when the taking heads started talking at halftime about the last time TCU came back from being down in a bowl game.
January 10, 20232 yr OBD 313 totals yards and 21 first downs against Georgia TCU 188 total yards and 9 first downs Georgia 571 total yards and 26 first downs against OBD Georgia 589 total yards and 32 first downs against TCU
January 10, 20232 yr I think Georgia showed us Class and sportsmanship doesn't matter. Bury them. Early, often, leave no doubt, make others worry. It will take an act of God to beat us if you want a Natty. Obliterate them. Make an unforgettable statement. You think everyone fears Georgia now? I do.
January 10, 20232 yr Kirby was actually trying to shorten the game after Bennett came out by handing the ball off repeatedly to the 4th string running back, freshman Branson Robinson. Somebody forgot to tell Branson to go easy and he scored two rushing touchdowns. TCU was so gassed by this point in the game that the most humane thing to do might have been to repeatedly go into victory formation--which could have been almost construed as tacky and condescending with nearly 10 minutes left in the 4th Quarter. I kept asking myself should there be a mercy rule that could be invoked in games like this?
January 10, 20232 yr 65-7 should be Exhibit A as to why we don't need a 12 team playoff. The gaps are too large right now. Most years it's very clear who the top 2-4 teams are. Some years you need a 5th, but rarely ever do you need 6. The only way 12 teams is good for CFB is if the football talent spreads out across the country now that there are more paths to the playoffs and 2007 type parity returns to the sport.
January 10, 20232 yr I don't think the conferences care about parity in the playoffs. They only see more money. However, I'm not sure how well things will turn out when we have continual 30+ point wins. If nobody watches, not as much money is made.
