  1. I wanted both #2 and #4. They're not mutually exclusive. Too many unpredictable factors to go with #5.
  2. People seem to love to hate on Herbstreit, but I've always found him to be quite good at his job.
  3. As one who was once called to the principal's office for throwing shade at fellow commenters, I have to hand it to Principal Fischer for creating a unique environment. It's an environment that takes a lot of work to maintain, and a strong character from the leader. Like in almost everything (such as football), good leadership is critical, and we have it here. It's not for everybody, but that's just fine. For example, we have no Loother (props to Log Haulin for the reference; I'd forgotten about that troll). Merry Christmas to everyone!
  4. It's official on Tuioti
  5. Well, Delta State is now apparently out of the playoffs, so could be.
  6. Jon, you may be off on some of the details, but I think your big picture is correct. As in all areas of business (and college football is most certainly a business) we see nothing but consolidation; the big get bigger and the rest fall by the wayside. I don't see any forces in college football to prevent the consolidation into a Super League. But remember what happened to the "real" Super League. It lasted less than 72 hours when the fans revolted.
  7. Miami will be under water before any new stadium gets built.
  8. Signed Friday night.
  9. Tru dat. The longer they delay their decisions, the better the chances for the good guys.
  10. The predictions for both McMillan and Moss are for "not Oregon": Moss to USC, McMillan to Arizona.
  11. Exactly...it appears that the SEC thinks they could exist as a stand-alone league, having nothing to do with the rest of college football. I suspect they're correct in their thinking.
  12. Sure! Shakana Santa, Shake It by Bo Dollis & The Wild Magnolias Rebel Jesus by The Chieftans & Jackson Browne White Christmas by Clyde McPhatter & The Drifters Getting Ready For Christmas Day by Paul Simon
  13. It ain't just the portal, college football in general is in chaos.
  14. Gotta admire this kid. Hope it works out for him in the years to come.
  15. Charles, are there not a host of regulatory and legal requirements for charitable organizations? This one would seem ripe for its statements, it seems to me. Salaries, overhead, donors, expenses, donations, etc.
  16. Yeah, saw that. Apparently, Riley and USC are not going to sweep every loose playing rattling around in the portal.
  17. Why stew? This isn't Watergate or a 60 Minutes corruption investigation, it's a press conference introducing a new football coach. It's not like there are deep, dark secrets that need to be ferreted out and revealed, or hypocrisies to be exposed, or vital information to be unearthed. Besides, as we see in politics, press conferences are for mostly for show. Hard questions are never really answered, deflection and diversion are the orders of the day for anything uncomfortable. Real reporting covers what is done, not what is said. All will be revealed in time.
  18. Maybe. Remember when he had his Cal players fake injuries to slow down the Ducks?
  19. Why would something else be going on? You would interview for the job to get a feel for the situation and the offer; it's your alma mater and big money is in the room. Who wouldn't interview if remotely interested? Then, you decide it's not for you, for whatever reasons, personal and/or professional. People turn down job offers all the time.
  20. The piece is clearly a swipe at Canzano by Crepea. The click-bait columnist getting his comeuppance from an actual reporter who is more concerned with context and accuracy than eyeballs.
