  1. I think Herbie could be on to something. Along with the subpar play, the team hasn't looked as focused, organized. Several of the penalties have been, "mental mistakes". Physicality and mentality go hand in hand on successful teams.
  2. Beaver Nation!
  3. I want to see a lot of Ducks cross the goal line with the ball firmly in their hands.
  4. Oregon 44 Oregon State 26 2 Turnovers 3 Sacks 278 Passing yards The running game gets going! The plays that didn't happen will determine the outcome.
  5. Great work. Charles, when all but the actual play is taken out, the length of the game is a few minutes, each play a few seconds, so highlighting the particulars of individual players, dissecting what they did or didn't do, is remarkable. I recently explained to my sister just how much is involved, how intricate football is, and I didn't even get to studying film.
  6. Two of my favorites from announcers come from basketball games. No.1. After a made basket, "He can make that shot" No.2. When a team is down by say 10 points or so with time running out. "They can't keep trading baskets if they want to win"
  7. Great job in answering why the Ducks were picked to have a great year (And They Still Can) but it seems like now Oregon is struggling to win with an all-star team; great individual talent, in a sport where teams need cohesion, familiarity, timing, everybody on the same page, to thrive.
  8. Precisely. No fallacies allowed at FishDuck
  9. Perhaps correlation-causation. What I came up with is that taking the returns out of the game creates a completely different game. Suppose anything other than a return for a touchdown happens? The game plays out in completely different way.
  10. Psychologically speaking, how did Herbie, and a bunch of others, see Oregon, with a new QB, new WR's new RB's, new OL, as a favorite for the championship?
  11. The game is at Corvallis, that's the only advantage Oregon State has, and I expect there will be a lot of green and yellow in the stands, so that mitigates home field. Oregon State would LOVE to beat the Ducks. I want to win Powerball EVERY week. Psychologically speaking you need to hit rock bottom then build yourself back up. The last two games are close enough to the bottom for the elevating to begin. The Ducks need to pound the Beavs into submission, a TKO somewhere around the middle of the third quarter, then just have fun the rest of the game, let Sappington kick a field goal for old times' sake.
  12. Okay, so Gabriel needs to catch a TD pass from Whittington and all will be right. Thinking about this team being the best Ducks team ever, which is what all the pre-season hype said, doesn't seem likely now. But take care of the Beavs, the Bye comes at the perfect time. Then it's Chip's old team, Jonathan's new team, then Ohio State at Oregon in the Game of the Year!!!!
  13. So, it will be the 6-Pac?
  14. Oh yeah, much better than last weeks!
  15. Interesting, first one is definitely not Marcus, or Justin. Second one was Marcus all the time and eventually Justin. Bo might have gotten in a OL's face if he allowed a sack, but it happened so rarely, not necessary.
  16. Throw in the Seattle Mariners who had the chance to objectively being called the greatest team in MLB history, but after winning 116 games, didn't even make it to the world series. But this is about the football failures. "Hand the ball off to Lynch!" And of course it will be shown at Autzen before every game forever: "The Pick"
  17. In the first two games, the Ducks look like a Broadway production full of actors who have all forgotten their lines. The big point I saw in this article is how minimal the passing game has been. Oregon Ducks offense is unsustainable due to glaring and crucial area of concern WWW.YARDBARKER.COM There's plenty of discourse happening surrounding the Oregon offense, and for good reason. Most of the time, through two...
  18. Agree with everything you wrote, Alex. Basically, the Ducks need to play this game like they're 6-0, against a markedly inferior opponent. It's on the Beavs home field, but OBD needs to show the Beavs they don't belong on it against them. Winning the "middle 8" is crucial, but the other 52 are just as crucial in this game. The Beavs aren't bullies, but smacking them in the face, with 3 and outs, sacks, turnovers will have them reeling and take the crowd out of the game. Nothing is more satisfying to a team than playing a quiet road game.
  19. Solar, there is meat on the bone you speak about here and the Beavs will e playing with a raging hunger that the Ducks will not only have to match, but exceed, if they want to win the game, which of course is why you play. thanks, Herm. I agree with Jon that a coach publicly calling out his players is a bad look, a sign of the coach having nowhere else to go.
  20. Looks like OBD will have to be efficient when they have the ball. I have bad memories of the Beavers taking over a game with nothing but run after run after run. There has always been an ethos to this game; OBD are high tech, state of the art, Beavs are old school, lunch pail, and the difference has never been starker.
  21. That was a game the Chargers would have lost last season. They miss Austin Ekeler, who's a Commander now, he would have done well, in the now more run oriented Harbaugh offense. I think the Chiefs will 3-peat, over the Lions, led by Penei Sewell.
  22. Yep. I'll wait too. The story that showed under the NIL story about Colorado was interesting. Eventually, The Buffs need to start winning.
  23. Captain Obvious, here, "No Rankings are valid until after four games" Not BIG, but Rankings related, watch out for Cal. They have a game next week at home against San Diego State, then at Florida State. A bye, then it should be Cal hosting Miami in a battle of undefefeateds.
  24. Ohio State is probably very good, though if the rankings are actually based on what the team has done so far, USC's win over "mediocre" LSU shows more than Ohio State's clear the bench games against the Akron Zips, 52-6 and Western Michigan, 56-0.
