Justin Williams to Georgia
It's my understanding that Oregon has solid NIL support, but they WILL NOT get into bidding wars. They encourage players to wait for the real (big) $$. Williams would have been nice...lost him to a team playing similar defence and great coaching...we'll get the next one.

Colorado - With These Numbers, Wouldn't You Too Blow Up the Roster?
Excellent point.

Colorado - With These Numbers, Wouldn't You Too Blow Up the Roster?
I supposed it needed doing, yet a pretty awful way for a kid to be treated. Those who made other teams were lucky, the others... I know it has become al about $$, but it is still about the people too. That said, it will be interesting to see how CU actually develops over the next 3-4 years with recruitment, player development, and W & L.

Pac-12 May Move to 8-Game League Schedule in 2024
At least they're "looking into it". Teams on the east coast have the luxury of having dozens and dozens of smaller program schools to choose from. All within a reasonable distance for travel. Us on the "left" coast, not so much. I believe scheduling a 4th OOC will be difficult. However, as much as I'd hate to help out LA schools, they will now be OOC and thus an attractive opponent. If the SEC is determined to stay at 8, the Pac needs to go to 8. Like it or not, the SEC leads the way. Remember, the aim is a Natty. It's not keeping the fan base happy with home game selection. Having another win vs a loss will make all Pac teams seem better thus helping the Pac winner of making the playoffs. Strength of schedule doesn't seem to affect the SEC, it shouldn't worry us. Btw, as an old Pac fan, I'd be happy playing 10 conference games and a bi-yearly trip vs Hawaii. (I'd go to all away games) and then winning the Rosebowl.

Some New Husky Comments for Upcoming Season and Beyond
I expect to hear a lot of howling from up north after the media picks. Having us at 4th, below them, should go straight to their heads. Coach Lanning needs to start another 12 in a row this year!

The Greatest Oregon Sound-Effect EVER?
That really is a great moment in Duck history. Camden may want to forget it but I hope we never do. I hope it gets added to pregame hype. The " OMG" moment, so quickly followed by relief, it's simply awesome. A quick little roller-coaster ride of emotions. And cuz it ends on a high, let's see it often!

Has Pac-12 Officiating Improved? Merton Hanks 'Excited' by State of Pac-12 Officiating
I guess the "proof is in the pudding" as they say. What else could Hanks say, "sorry, we bad"? I'll believe it when I see it. However, all my football friends from other conferences are convinced their officials are the worst. So maybe it just goes with the territory. Let's hope for improvement. 🤞

Oregon Beach Volleyball Players: Treatment That Could Violate Title IX
This is troubling. (And I'm not even a fan or supporter of Title IX) If you can't do it right, don't do it. That's what I grew up hearing. Also, common sense leadership would suggest doing better here. I hope Oregon has some kind of valid reason for the seeming mistreatment. I didn't realize that they had $0 financial assistance. They might as well be a club sport.

New Study Shows Questionable View of Oregon Ducks Fanbase
This is so funny! The Beavers higher than the Ducks?!? They aren't even more popular within their own state! This says a lot about the accuracy of this poll. If it was basketball, maybe. But football, no way! The only caveat might be that Oregon fans are not as over the top "fanatical" as say, SEC fans. But Duke? Rutgers? Cal?!! LMAO. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Family?
Great observation. Thanks for posting. It is a great juxtaposition to the article about coach Sanders dismissing a player in front of the whole team, or "family" as he called it. How to strengthen the idea of family...

Is That RIGHT? Prime Kicks Off a Player in Front of Team?
I don't know what the jersey colors represented, but they pretty much voted together. That suggests to me they all knew who the player in question probably was, and so his "color" mostly supported him. It seemed to me to be a pretty close vote. Notice coach kept using the word "family". He was clearly trying to make his point, and sometimes tough decisions should be discussed as a family. Finally, using this format made it clear the decision was not personal. Everyone was in on it, making it easier for all to move forward from. Lastly, I'm an old "white" boomer. I had a 2 parent family. I bet many of these boys did not. Tough love is learned best in family. It's hard for me to get a culture I wasn't raised in, but I'm guessing Dion knows better than I. Seeing someone learn the hard way is never easy. But chances are you'll never forget it.

Blah, Blah Blah, Pac 12 Media Deal to be Announced "In the Near Future", But Not Friday/Media Day
So if necessary, pay for 3 months. You know you will. As will I. 😉

Good Faith Questions About STREAMING
I think the deal about streaming is that it seems to be the direction of the not-so-distant future. And with Disney claiming espn "will" one day (sooner than later) be all streaming, clearly TV viewing will change for sport fans. Here at OBD we are all wanting to be optimistic about new media deal, thus the positive reaction to streaming. If we could get a sec type deal, we'd love it. But we can't and won't. Visionary leadership is required here. That means "outside the box" thinking which is new and possibly disconcerting to all us "boomers". I currently don't stream except Prime. But I'm willing to adjust if it helps get more $$ for the Pac. And as Charles has pointed out, Oregon would greatly benefit nationally and internationally from better streaming availability. Remember too, no one expects the new deal to be all streaming or even half. The primary will be linear TV as they say. That is the expectation. The streaming part is what will give added $$ to make the deal more than BIG12. (At least as far as I've read) Think about the possibilities of a streaming platform using the production ability of our Pac12 network. Viewership would sky rocket as now every state could sign up. And the P-12 network could actually be profitable. And finally, the USuC game is mocked becuz being on mainstream could pull a potential larger audience, and becuz, well it's USuC. Great questions to ask btw. Thanks.

Canzano: 'The Room Has Just Shifted'
I don't see how the Pac "brand" has suffered. USC, UO are leading the recruiting, but Stanford has its best class in years! CU sold out its spring game. 6 teams ended '22 ranked in top 25. 4 - 6 QB'S are getting preseason hype. 5 (or is it 6) teams are ranked preseason. I mean, the only bad press is coming from B1G, ESPN, and B12 haters. They want to see the Pac's demise. I see this " the room has shifted" quote as being a big hint on a media deal we will all be excited about. It may even make the Pac12 network profitable. I like JC (now that he's on his own) but he just sound frustrated (as we all are) in the waiting game. I mean, we want to know now! Hang in there Duck fan faithful. Fishduck has it correct. Wherever the chips fall, our Ducks will make out great. I for one think this deal might be good enough to entice UCLA back. Besides travel costs and student travel burn-out, the political scene could be tougher, for eg. Nebraska is now a banned travel state for state employees, and several other issues. We shall see and be glad.

Stephen Curry: "I Gotta Go After Sabrina's Record"
Gotta say Steph is a good sport about this. Love the interaction. Though he should feel pretty good as he got a hole-in-one in last week's charity golf tourney. 😉

Media Selects Preseason 2023 Pac-12 All-Conference Football Team
How does USuC get so many on defense? I thought their D was considered worse than just "suspect"!

What Are Realistic Expectations for Oregon in 2023?
"No team has gone 9-0 in Pac since CU and UT joined up". That's big. I know Bo was banged up in the OSU game, but we have to give coaches some credit for that loss. Remember, down by 21 at half, and they don't throw a single pass in the 2nd half, and win! And we stayed in cover 2. What I'm suggesting is that there is a learning curve when you are a new head coach. Knowing when to change up the game plan for example. The Pac is solid and strong this year in the top half, and might I suggest that CU may not be the easy push over we think. Can 51 new players and coaches gel? What type of defense or offense will they run? As much as we hate Taggert, he runs a pretty good offense. All in all, there will be upsets, almost guaranteed. I'm hoping for 10-2, but I'll take 9-3 and be happy if it means we beat both dawgs and beavs!

Bill Oram: A Year After Spencer Webb’s Death, His Sister is Still Searching for Connection
Rest in peace, Spencer. It's a good reminder to tell the ones we love, that we do. His life is such a great example of not letting your short comings in life hold you back. May his memory live on.

OBD Members: "We Are Surrounded by Morons"
HDuck has it right. Rushing at AZ is like JustinH at Oregon. Duh! Also, the AZ NIL consortium came up big for this guy. And Oregon nil will not get into bidding wars. So we move on to the next kid. Go Ducks!

Holy Crap! An Athlete at QB for Oregon Like THIS?
Wow. A way to measure the intangibles. Who'd have thunk it.

Do College Football 'Journalists' Think Before They Write?
Yes it's pile on the Pac!! And no, most sports writers east of the Rockies don't think before they write! My only thought on OOC games is its hard to take bowl game results to serious when every team has so many opt outs.
