  1. So now Josh Lupoi is official. Does this mean all the new coaches have been hired, and is so, when are they all on campus?
  2. I think this would help make college sports go back to being student athletes. I don't see universities giving up rights to their names etc. The new super league will not be associated to schools, but towns, and will be fully owned by NFL and be a feeder/developer league.
  3. Yes, and when boosters can pay a walk on's tuition, then there really is not an 85 limit to scholarships.
  4. Aren't teams allowed some over 85 again this year due to covid year seniors?
  5. Longevity only works when you are winning. This was Utah's first Rose Bowl. Let them keep their consistency. We need good coaching, period. I hope this new crew gets it done. Every new hire has been on winning programs and shares the recognition of the value of good recruiting. I believe the hire of Dan Lanning will be very successful for Oregon. If he is, he and his staff will get other offers. And life will go on. Longevity is great only when it's mutual for both parties. I am grateful for Cristobal, and even more grateful Oregon got paid for his leaving. We are about to soar to new heights and we will have so much fun reading about the new defense and offense right here at Fishduck!
  6. He was here for 4 years. 2020 gave him an extra year.
  7. If the Utes win big, will that make the Pac12 look better? If tOSU loses twice in the same year to different Pac12 teams, that should say something!
  8. I absolutely agree with your points David. I am grateful they came to Oregon, and even more grateful they left. WT gave us Cristobal. MC gave us great recruiting, which most of us never thought possible, at least not top 10. Our program now is certainly in better shape after MC, than after Helfrich. If we are admittedly in the "only a Natty or bust" group, coaches will come and go. We need to expect and respect that. No one seems to mention the coach's family. As much as we love Eugene and the Pacific NW, not everyone loves to live here. The weather, culture, politics, etc. are not every one's cup of tea. It is very possible that Mrs. Cristobal wanted to move. There are major differences living in the south from the NW. If a coach or player doesn't want to be here, I don't want them to be here. We should honor other's choices. It's what liberty is all about. Finally, civility is one of the things I cherish most about the OBD forum. I don't expect Charles to have to be a hall monitor either. We need to monitor ourselves. Name calling and childish rants are what we expect from that purple team up north, not from educated, intelligent fans like us.
  9. Thanks Notalot! I like that name!! But I'll share it with Coach. lol But, outside of the yogurt, as a coach he is an animal on that side line, so Danimal works for me.
  10. You are a lucky man. My wife is all about the family and entertaining!
  11. Um, none of our coaches are named Graham. So, why be concerned? Only the analyst has an immediate connection, the rest have been elsewhere since ASU. Is this story due to a slow news week? C'mon. Let them screw up first before we get excited.
  12. I for one was glad AB played. He was starter all year, he earned it. Now it's up to coach Lanning and his other coaches to develop and prepare TT and JB for action. A clean start for the whole qb room. Nix will have to show improvement to win starting.
  13. Yes, but none of those players were around when he came to Oregon.
  14. Yes, some interesting points. My concern is the "unrealistic expectations" comment. How long does Lanning get before it gets too critical around here? If DL continues to get good recruiting classes, won't we expect to see results immediately on the field? On another note, I watched the end of the Clemson game. Reportedly, all his players healthy played in the game. No opt outs for NFL. That is amazing. Is that a result of good coaching, great identity, or why? Whatever the reason, wish we had it here.
  15. Thanks for understanding my sarcasm. You said it exactly right.
  16. I've heard that is a saying in the SEC. I've also heard that Texas A&M coach said that NIL has been around for a long time, only now its legal! I'm seeing some hesitancy in new coaching hires by Lanning. Worries that infractions may occur. So what. If Texas can pay Olineman $50k/year, anything goes. We want a Natty, at any cost. Right? So, let's get to it!
  17. Personally, I believe MC that he was all in while he was here. I'm happy for him and his family. I'm Also happy the new coach understands the importance of recruiting.
  18. I like this idea the best JJ. Now, can we sell it to the other conferences? The "playoff" has ruined bowl games. Even players have little interest. This idea could save a bunch of them.
  19. I'll take the optimism. Guys will be playing for pride and for each other. As it should be. I believe the players like coach Mac also. Could be a good motivation. I really could use a good game to watch, and what's better than watching a win!
  20. I don't think I've ever called him that...
  21. This is what NIL can be used for, a booster can pay schollies for all "walkon" kickers and longsnappers.
  22. I think Utah will play like they want it more. It's been a long while since they had a big bowl game. Go Pac12!
  23. Merry Christmas fellow Duck fans!! My rule of thumb is to ask myself, "who really wants to hear your opinion"?! And as others have said, read what you wrote outloud before hitting send. Charles, you have provided a format where I have learned so much about our Ducks and the game itself. Thank you! People in my little circle of life consider me the "Duck expert" because of you and this site. lol We are entering a new year, 2022, that is full of much hope for our Ducks, and also so much uncertainty. The great unknown. I look forward to enjoying this journey with all of you here on OBD forum. I raise a toast to the continued success of this fabulous site and us members.
  24. As much as we love our Ducks, living in Eugene, in the liberal NW with the dampness and such isn't for every family. Not stating hard reasons for saying no is the classiest response. This way no one gets their feelings hurt. Whatever the reason, it's irrelevant. But, I think we under estimate how good Wilcox might be. He gives us fits every year. And let's all admit it, having the HC and both coordinators be alumni would have seemed pretty cool. At least at first. I am excited to see our growth and development moving forward.
