  1. Reports link Jerry Schumacher to Oregon track and field coaching vacancy WWW.REGISTERGUARD.COM According to reports that surfaced late Sunday from both LetsRun.com and reporter Doug Binder of DyeStat.com, the hiring could come as soon as Monday.
  2. It appears the tweet is gone and nothing on Youngs twitter, listed below????? https://twitter.com/richardyoung239
  3. Presumably a similar deal for the B1G's projected billion dollar deal would divert $150,000,000 to private equity, reducing each of the current 14 members share by $10 million each and every year?
  4. Somewhat off topic but tOSU has EIGHT home games? They open with five straight in the 'Shoe? Their toughest road trips are to Michigan State and Penn State plus Maryland and Northwestern. No wonder they are expected to be in the playoffs.
  5. How many of the presidents have an interest in athletics? They oversee a billion dollar plus organization. The athletic director is the one who focuses on the conference affiliation and inner workings but I doubt many of them have particular expertise in media rights value. Reporting at the time certainly painted a different picture than what JC claims. Further we have no idea what the proposed partner was asking for. A lot of private equity firms border on sketchy. The Pac-12 is no longer interested in selling a media rights stake to private equity firms AWFULANNOUNCING.COM The Pac-12's plan to sell a stake to a private equity firm always seemed unlikely, and now it's officially dead; a strategic partnership remains possible.
  6. At $68 million each the 14 members of the SEC divide a pool of $952 million. A new member would need to add a minimum of $68 million in revenue to prevent a reduced distribution. Canzano recently posted the Nielsen date for each conference and Oklahoma was listed at 755,340. Ignoring the fact the SEC will already capture a lot of those sets with OU would the addition of Oklahoma State warrant ESPN paying an additional $68,000,000? Will Alabama and Georgia take less money to be able to play in Boone Pickens Stadium? I doubt it.
  7. To me this speaks volumes about the maturity, ethics and character of the player. Further I think it reflects well on the coaching staff he chose to play for.
  8. Several decent options but I also lean toward #5. A game against every other division increases visibility (eyeballs) for everyone.
  9. Isn't the only way this works is ESPN agrees to increase their payout to the SEC so they can void the ACC contract? Wouldn't that spawn an unending stream of lawsuits from the schools left behind? A brief overview from last year of the Grant Of Rights and the exit fee in the ACC. Clemson football: Why ACC Grant of Rights might not mean as much as we think RUBBINGTHEROCK.COM Over the course of the last week, rumors have been swirling surrounding the Clemson football program and several others due to the expansion moves being ma...
  10. From Canzano "The Big Ten deal with Fox that was valued at $1 billion a year is now worth $1.143 billion with the addition of USC and UCLA." which keeps the payout at roughly the $71 million.
  11. I see the response to the Winston speculation as very similar to Cota. Quotes from a thread when Cota entered the portal I was really disappointed when he chose UCLA over Oregon. Now, looking strictly at production he had 18 receptions for 286 yards last season as a third year player. With limited scholarships I hope they recruit someone a bit more dynamic. Hard Pass. He had his chance, and we do not have the scholarships to spare. Agreed. I’ve watched him for 4 years at UCLA and he is just an average pac12 receiver. Respect his family and wish him the best, but we can find a better receiver in the portal than Chase. After he committed to Oregon Meh. Agreed. Perhaps a political move for future Oregon HS recruits Cota is ok... the guy CAN play. He is a local kid so welcome. While I'm glad he's finishing his career at Oregon, I'm not head over heels excited. He's proven to have a limited ceiling and has similar stats as Brendan Schooner... he'll be a veteran presence to maybe teach the younger some things but I don't expect him to start or put up any record breaking numbers. I think it's a great pickup to build depth.
  12. $100 million debt in three years, two of which were under the watch of Mr. Jarmond. Why let a guy who was part of their fiscal fiasco make any decisions at all?
  13. I agree with the above. Kelly Graves decided a one year rental driving off a promising underclassman isn't a good way to build a cohesive, consistent program and I believe the same holds true for football.
  14. You might find the story of our running backs coach interesting. From bulletproof vests to getting wings at Oregon, Coach Carlos Locklyn cuts unique path - Footballscoop FOOTBALLSCOOP.COM A former federal agent and Memphis prep coach, Locklyn's now a rising star
  15. How do they pay off a $300+ million stadium renovation?
  16. If we go to the B1G...then the travel sucks, we won't win as many games, but we will have more prestige and money to stay relevant for the top recruits. Aren't "we won't win as many games" and "stay relevant for the top recruits" diametrically opposed?
  17. Division 1-A would still have a championship and all the fanfare that entails.
  18. If he did he should be playing the lottery. USC/UCLA didn't know they were moving when Lanning was hired.
  19. Fight fire with fire. Move to completely revamp the college football landscape by forming a new Division 1-A. Accept the fact that only 10-12 institutions currently have a realistic shot at the Natty and let them go play with themselves. Raid the B1G and the SEC, take Northwestern, take Nebraska, Ole Miss, Missouri, Minnesota, etc. and set up leagues based on geography. Put them in a position to actually contend for a title. Carving off the “also-ran” schools from the B1G and the SEC will basically destroy their media rights value while enhancing the D-1A members income. Division 1-A can set their own rules governing pay to play and transfers, all the ills we foresee leading to the demise of college football. Simple rough format, ten leagues with ten members each. 100 of the 125 D-1 schools. You still have a possible Clemson-Oregon championship match up, maybe a Baylor-Florida State. A much wider range than the current Alabama vs ?. Some will decry that it isn't football at the highest level. So what? The excitement of college football is the 'any given Saturday' aspect. Going back to a level playing field would be a welcome relief. As a wise poster stated in another thread bring back history and tradition.
  20. Traveling across multiple time zones every other week makes winning much more difficult. We didn't make the playoffs very often as it was, in the B1G it will be less.
  21. "while always putting our student-athletes first" is why they more than doubled the flight time for away games, gives them more time to study. Nothing says your important more than 8-10 hours on a plane every other week.
