People have been pumping this idea, but I think we are somewhat mistaken here. Fox still needs to cover the late night slot with a game. With 4 teams on the pacific coast, the games between them (and some people are hoping for 3 a year), those teams naturally will fit into the latest slot - unless it becomes a big important game to the rest of the country and Fox (or whoever) has another game they can schedule into the late spot. Hence we we may still have 2 games a year in the "After Dark" category -- probably more if we have a couple of perceived patsies OOC. I hope I am wrong.

The second part of a proverb says, "He swears to tell the truth, but reveals nothing." I think that's hilarious. It's true in so many areas of life. It's amazing how much a person can say, without lying, and still reveal nothing. Coach speech is an art, and practice makes perfect.

Everyone has been talking about the Ducks hopefully averaging 40 points this year. Seems reasonable if the defense improves enough to put the ball back in the O's hands an average one more time per game. I was curious about the Duckswire predictions and so added up all the Duck's scores and divided by 12. The result was 36.83 points per game. Hopefully, Duckswire is wrong because that would be a step backward. Last year ppg was 38.77. I couldn't find the stats for either points per possession or possessions per game for last year. however if the defense gives the offense the ball an average of once more per game, you've got to think that translates into 2 more points average per game.

We sure weren't thinking this a year ago. Way to go BO!!!

The only thing not in the formula are the changes necessary to make it a 12 game pool. It looks like they are taking the top 6 rated conference champions plus the top 6 rated non-champions. Of course, all of the above will help them sort out the top non-champions.

Indeed. I believe the criteria is that the top 6 rated conference champs are in. Also, the NCAA does not run the playoff. The PAC 6 or 8 might not be considered a "POWER" conference anymore. The playoff committee could change their criteria any time they want to.

Assets include back payments from NCAA for the last few years of March Madness participation... including whatever future payments March Madness produces this year for the PAC. That´s a big ton of money that schools can't take with them to the new conference. Does the PAC still own the Rose Bowl??? or did they give it away? The PAC still owns automatic bids in some good Bowls. Apple is still said to be interested in the PAC4+/=. $20M a year is a lot better than $5M a year. NCAA recognizes any conference with a minimum of 6 teams. They only HAVE TO add 2 right out of the chute. Preserve the PAC and the Beaves have a chance. They are top 25 right now. I am rooting for the Beaves and the Ducks in the PAC 12 championship game.

Maybe not, but it seems a little irrational to leave the PAC right before the playoff expansion to 12. Seems it would be a lot easier to get into the playoffs with the PAC as the launching point. Back to the thread topic, What are the chances of the 4 teams that are left adding 4 more teams to keep a PAC 8 alive? The Mountain West just got a lot harder to leave.

I thought this meant the end of his career, but the same thing happened on the USC team last summer and the athlete played again for the team 6 months later. That is amazing. If Lebron's goal stays intact, Bronny will have to... ???

Honoring a scholarship, offered and accepted, should be just like the buyout cost when a coach is fired. When a coach is hired, both parties agree to terms for a (say, 4-5 year) contract. There is a buyout for the coach if he wants to leave, and there is a buyout for the school if they want to fire him. In the athlete's case, the buyout for the student is the risk of losing a scholarship altogether by not hooking up in the portal, while the buyout for the school who wants to "fire" him should definitely be the honoring of the student's scholarship agreement 4-5 years or sooner at graduation.

No place to go but up. What's intriguing to me is how the fanbase is so completely optimistic, as if Colorado was already back on the national scene and will put up double digit wins this year. Most rebuilds are slow. Ask my wife... she's been working on me for 47 years. I like the confidence. The PAC is strong this year so it's going to be hard for them to get back into a bowl game. It looks like that is what they are expecting.

Right after I wrote it, I realized that this will happen several times in the 12 team playoff future... especially in the SEC and the B1G. Going with this scenario, It will be possible for top teams in a conference to play each other 3 times in a year: 1 regular conference play, 1 conference championship, 1 playoff (if both win until they meet).

OR OSU can beat Oregon in the rivalry game and then Oregon wins in Vegas. Everyone says it´s hard to beat a team twice in one year (ask the 2012 LSU team). ¿Which of the two would you rather lose? If they were both undefeated going into the rivalry game and split the two games on consecutive weekends, They would both be 12-1. Could they both get an invitation to the invitational???

No craziness... just Ducks and Beavs playing really well every Saturday.
