  4. I'm not sure what Dodd was trying to express with this article. I don't think he came to any real conclusion. However, I guess he is trying to ask should the Pac-12 follow the money or visibility? Young people don't do normal TV. Neither of my kids (12 & 14) go out of their way to watch normal TV. People who want to watch college football will. If we are talking about 1-3 million extra per school, I can see not going the Amazon route. If we are talking more than that, then it makes sense to go with Amazon. If you are playing good football or basketball, you will be put on normal TV. If you don't have money to keep up with the other leagues, your teams are likely to be bad and nobody will want to watch anyway. Pac-12 should be concerned about visibility, not value compared to Big 12 as new media rights deal nears - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Plus, a look at whether further expansion is coming to the Big Ten, Big 12 and/or Pac-12 If there is a big enough difference in money, I go with adding Amazon.
  5. Yep. Oregon scheduled the game against Georgia in 2018. Ducks were coming off a 7-6 season and Georgia was coming off a 13-2 season in 2017. It is extremely rare for a game to be scheduled within 1 year of it being played. The first open date currently is 2027. Already have 1 game scheduled in 2033. Georgia, Oregon Agree to Contract to Play in 2022 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game BLEACHERREPORT.COM The Georgia Bulldogs and Oregon Ducks will meet in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sept. 3, 2022, according to Tim Tucker of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution... 6. Pac-12 Hoops Power Rankings: Where every squad stands heading into 2022-23 season SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM At the beginning of the 2022-23 college basketball season, optimism abounds. Here's our Pac-12 Power Rankings ahead of the new year.
  7. 15 Pac-12 basketball storylines to watch for 2022-23 SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Columnist Jon Gold tackles the 15 most important storylines of the upcoming Pac-12 men's basketball season. Who'll emerge on top?
  8. Young is out of the Heisman race. He isn't putting up that crazy of numbers to overcome 2 losses.
  9. Why do teams schedule those games? Money. The Ducks made more money from that game, then they would have if they played a terrible team at home. It was 100% a money grab. Schools like home and home because they don't have to pay a team to play them. It is like Joe Klatt completely ignored why Texas and Oklahoma is leaving for the SEC and why USC and UCLA are going to the B1G Ten. Definitely a risk reward situation.
  10. CFP is "supposed" to take in account a conference championship. In theory a Pac 12 champion at 12-1 should be ranked higher than a 12-1 or 11-1 non-conference champion. However, with Tennessee and Oregon both having played Georgia, it will strain that theory. My personal opinion, the loser between tOSU and Michigan fall behind the Ducks, if the Ducks have won out. The Ducks strength of schedule, #7, to finish the season is much stronger than any of the 6 teams ahead of them. It is a crap shoot with the rotating CFP committee. They haven't been perfect and haven't always appeared to use logic, but I haven't had any real complaint in their final 4 since the beginning of the CFP.
  11. Another Autzen expansion is not happening any time soon. When they expanded in 2002, they went from 41,698 to 54,000. 12,000 seats is a ton, when Eugene is around 180K and our neighbor Springfield is 62K. That is nearly 25% of every human in the immediate area. The next closest town of over 100K is Salem 1 hour north, but they tend to be OSU fans or at best 50/50 Ducks/Beavers. Portland is 2 hours north. Bend is 2.5 hours east and Medford is 2.5 hours south. The AD and the Pac 12 have zero say in game times. Once the contract has been signed with the TV companies, the TV companies have 100% say in when the game time starts. I don't think ESPN was throwing Oregon and Pac 12 a bone with the 12:30 start time. I think they actually hurt the Pac 12 because it was on at the same time as Tennessee at Georgia.
  12. Yes and no. It is how close you are to the opposing team and if you are facing the opposing bench or your own.
  13. I think the Ducks would beat TCU, but I'm going to give any undefeated P5 the nod over a 1 loss team. TCU should be ranked ahead of Alabama. I'll take 13-1 Rose Bowl win.
  14. It won't be talked about, but the Ducks had more total yards and the same amount of 1st downs against Georgia than Tennessee. Ducks did it game 1 with everything new, while Tennessee did it game 9 in the flow of the season. It is hard to ignore the score difference between the 2 games and the Ducks did give up 200 more yards.
  15. I suppose they could be throwing the Pac 12 a bone, but one game doesn't help the conference. The only way ESPN helps the conference is by agreeing to having a certain number of games during prime time or other non after dark games. I get the Pac 12 is the only P5 conference for those late night games, but balance it out by putting on Pac 12 games during the day. If it isn't in the contract, I'm certainly not going to take ESPN's word for "helping" the Pac 12.
  16. Recent Wisconsin WR decommit now overwhelmingly favored to land with Oregon SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The Ducks could be in line to add another WR to the 2023 class after a recent de-commitment from Wisconsin.
  17. Sweet, smart move by Fox.
  18. Oregon 59-24 2 TO 3 sacks 257 passing yards
  19. Pac-12 basketball preview: Predicting how far every Pac-12 team goes SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM How far does each Pac-12 team get in the upcoming college basketball season? We give our thoughts.
  20. Pac-12 basketball preview: Power ranking the head coaches SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Two years removed from the Final Four, UCLA's Mick Cronin tops the list of Pac-12 coaches. But Tommy Lloyd and Dana Altman are on his tail.
  21. Expanding to just expand won't help the Pac 12 financially. We need schools who would help the bottom line or at the very least not hurt it. IMO, only SDST won't hurt the bottom line. All the other schools don't move the football TV needle, which is a huge part of where the TV money comes from. SMU is in Dallas, but nobody watches their football games.
  22. According to this site, MSU isn't giving out really rich NIL deals. College Football NIL Rankings WWW.ON3.COM A ranking of College Football recruits. These rankings are based on the potential influence they have as an individual.
  23. I guess if NIL gives him huge money, but kids also like winning and playing in "their" offense. Mel Tucker is a so-so coach. He went 5-7 his 1 year at Colorado, 2-5 during covid, 11-2 last year and 3-5 this year. I don't see MSU doing better than 2-2 to finish the year. If money means more than winning and NFL draft stock, have at it. I don't think Moore is even entertaining the thought, unless there is life changing money.
