  1. More details in this account: Receiver Traeshon Holden reinstated to Oregon Ducks football team WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Holden was reinstated following the decision by the Lane County District Attorney’s office not to...
  2. Assuming there are no other issues (something we on the outside will never know), he should be reinstated to the team.
  3. With those charges, there's no way he should stay on the team. Good job, Lanning.
  4. MLS (Major League Soccer) is conducting a real-life experiment/jump-into-the-deep-end with streaming in just a few weeks. Apple + will stream all league games, as an extra-cost package on top of the monthly Apple subscription fee. Only one or two marquee match up games per week will be broadcast on Fox. As a Portland Timbers fan, I'm not wild about this, and I'm not yet sure if I'll pony up the funds. All Timbers' game have until now been available on local television/cable. I really don't care about watching teams and games that I'm not interested in; I just want to watch the Timbers games. But, to do that I have to pay for the ability to watch all the league games.
  5. Starting to appear that Mario’s sales pitch fails once you’re older than about 18.
  6. Get used to it: all the SoCal recruits will be heading to Eugene soon, because there isn't going to be any water down there. Like they say, ducks to water...
  7. Considering that USC has brought in a good class, this sort of hysterical over-reaction is especially amusing. I like the guy in the image quote who doesn't know the difference between "who's" and "whose".
  8. I wish I had been as thoughtful when I was 18 as Pleasant seems to be.
  9. Charles, that makes me wonder if, in general, recruits let the winning schools know in advance about their decisions. Or, do coaches find out by watching the the announcements along with everyone else?
  10. FWIW, all the predictions for Harbor on Duck Territory are for South Carolina.
  11. It's always all good in Mario-world until the games actually start.
  12. According to Canzano, the results of the audit were given to Dixon back in 2017, as well as to Scott.
  13. I would never deal with a lawyer named Woodie.
  14. What will Larry do? He'll hire lawyers for himself. This thing makes no sense though. Wilner's article says only Comcast can determine how much they should pay because the size of the payments is based on data only Comcast has access to. If that's true, how can Comcast claim they overpaid, and continued to do so for years, if they used their own data as the basis of the payments? I'm confused. In any event, that was some, at best, shoddy management going on down there. What else will come out?
  15. This is going to blow up.
  16. Why are years-old “overpayments” surfacing now? Could this have anything to do with it? Fox looking at how it paid for other rights? https://www.usnews.com/news/sports/articles/2023-01-18/testimony-lays-bare-soccers-biggest-corruption-scandal
  17. I think this is going to be a big story. Even in today's world, $50 million is a lot of money, and it went somewhere, likely somewhere it wasn't supposed to go. The two fired execs are not accused of personally keeping the money, which raises even more questions as to where the money went. Did no one else notice the extra $50 million over the years? "Overpayment" is a strange term; what does it mean? How can a "distribution partner" (FOX? ESPN?) overpay, year after year, without some sort of arrangement, likely illegal, on both sides, the conference and the partner? Whaddaya got to say about this, Larry? Have you already lawyered up?
  18. Doesn't seem possible. A part of Portland for decades who won't be forgotten.
  19. Uh-oh...this sounds very much like the (still ongoing?) FIFA bribery scandal. Where did those $50 million in over-payments go? Larry Scott? I bet the 2 PAC officials know. In soccer it has worked like this for years: media rights were purchased by bribing the equivalent of Conference officials. The broadcast rights were sold for - say - $10 million, with - for example - an extra $2 million going to the corrupt officials who made the decisions on the broadcast rights sales. All sorts of byzantine wire transfers, offshore LLCs, lying, and lavish living were involved.
  20. It appears that roster building in pro sports is easy, compared to the scene now in college athletics.
  21. The scholarship winnowing continues. Wish him the best wherever he goes.
  22. If I were Tosh Lupoi, I would be getting a strong message from this hire.
  23. Good on him, good for the Ducks. He is the master of the left upright.
