Oregon Taking Portal Transfers is VERY Risky Business
The length-of-scholarship rule is significant. We are in the wild west days of the portal; it will probably take a few years until it becomes clear how it really works for both players and programs. Just a guess, but it probably will calm down as both sides start to see the downsides.

Dante Moore Reportedly Visiting UCLA
Tru dat. I grew up in Illinois, and I could only dream about Southern California in December. Think they're using the likely BIG move to entice him? Live in Southern California, but play close to home, does have an appeal to it.

People are Pretty Selfish: Should I Continue the OBD Forum?
This, Log Haulin. I too feel that having to think about what I say and how I say it has made be a better person, which is an admittedly low bar. I've tried to behave the same way in other arenas. And, I've learned a lot about football, too.

Wouldn’t Count on Jurrion Dickey’s Commitment
Read an article in The Athletic about ATM and all the 5-stars they bought recruited. As we all know, things did not work out as boasted about; numerous suspensions and inabilities to adjust to college life. ATM has had 20 players scurry to the portal so far, nearly double what Oregon has had.

An Honest Transfer Posting...What Do You Think?
Seeing that Mike Leach is a toxic nutcase, I'm totally supportive of what the young man had to say. I don't think his statement will hurt him, as I'm sure every other program is aware of what Mike Leach is.

People are Pretty Selfish: Should I Continue the OBD Forum?
I will praise Charles and this forum to no end. I'm fairly well immersed in internet culture, where the bad always drives out the good, and the comments, like water, always seek the lowest level. The forum is unique. And, it is so only because Charles and the mods (and the software) enforce the rules, and keep it a pleasant place to be. Remember, this forum is not the public square; it's Mr. FishDuck's house. If he doesn't like loudmouth idiots acting like jerks in his house, he throws them out. They can act like jerks outside, somewhere else, it's not their house. That's not censorship, it's being a good host. I couldn't do what Mr. FishDuck does; his effort and patience are beyond me.

Canzano: Transfer Game Laced with Misguided Frustration
I think I need help when I find myself agreeing 100% with John Canzano. Let's face it, modern college football is pretty rotten from top to bottom. I choose to look the other way, I guess, but when you have a system overflowing with money that's based on the efforts of teenagers and young men, you're gonna have a lot of problems. Maybe NIL and the portal are the beginnings of improvement.

Bowl Game Question: More Important to Go For Win With Nix OR See What Ty Thompson Has to Offer?
I feel certain that the coaches know what Ty Thompson can bring. That's why he hardly plays. I don't mean to be cruel, but it seems totally evident to me.

Justin Flowe to the Transfer Portal
In theory, a big loss. In practice? Not so much.

Oregon Names UTSA's Will Stein as Offensive Coordinator
This would indicate that Lanning is not playing it safe with an established name, and would seem to also indicate that Lanning is the decision maker in picking his assistants, for better or worse. I like the trend to younger coaches: new ideas, and better connections to the players makes sense to me. The game is changing in many ways; time to get new, youthful thinking on the sidelines. That said, Stein better be good.

UW QB Penix to Return in 2023
Charles, you know that the scholar-athletes at the University of Academic Prowess play only for the love of the game, a first-class degree, and the general benefit of humankind. The thought of monetary compensation never enters their uncorrupted minds. How churlish of you to even suggest otherwise.

Is a "Bandwagon" Fan Still an Oregon Fan?
The word fan is derived from fanatic, and fanatics don’t let bad times stop them from staying attached to their team. Criticizing if need be, cheering when possible, but staying attached. I sure ain't going anywhere. But, casual followers come and go, depending on won-loss records, and as Log Haulin says, those folks are needed, because fanatics are not numerous enough to keep the money flowing. Except maybe in Alabama.

Season Snap Counts
Snaps don't lie, I guess...about who the coaches think should play. Justin Flowe, only 178 out of 816 possible, for example. Bradyn Swinson even fewer.
