GameDay Thread versus Colorado: Join Us!
jrw replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I don't want to jump on the guy, but I simply see, and have seen, no reason to think that Ty Thompson is going to make it as a starter. Very nervous about next year, or a Nix injury this season. -

Are we going to see a backup QB? Or is it style points and Bo's Heisman campaign that rule the day? -

The Auburn football program is, by all accounts I've seen, a toxic environment mixed with a dumpster fire topped off with clueless boosters.

Up until this season, I had thought of Seven as the potential DAT 2022. But, it appears the juice was just not there. I don't see the team missing him, but as always, wish him the best; the Portal can be a bit like the Bermuda Triangle.

The Oregon Brand is BACK and is No Longer Chip Kelly’s Legacy
jrw replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
OBD: Our Beloved Ducks and Oregon Brand Ducks. -
Hey! I’m happy. My team wins by 18 on the road, while not playing its best. The glass is well more than half full.

This Millner kid is from Gilbert AZ, the home of Ty Thompson. Millner looks better than both Plummer and Thompson.

Yeah, sometimes these games happen. But, not like under...um...what was his name, again?

L-o-n-g way to go. Concerned, but not worried. Talent will win out.

Gonna be one of those games.

Since the internet (aka, everything is free) killed local newspapers, all journalism - sports and otherwise - has suffered badly. There simply is no longer the revenue being generated to pay for the quantity and quality of journalists that we need. It's pretty simple and well documented. Until someone can figure out how to monetize journalism again - and good luck with that - expect more of the same, if it doesn't get even worse. On another note, I think Rasheed Wallace had sports reporters figured out back in his Blazers' days. No matter what he was asked, he'd respond with the same thing, "Both teams played hard". After a while, reporters left him alone, which is what he wanted.

Joseph Goodman (Auburn): Watching Bo Nix With Bitterness in My Heart
jrw replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Wow, that guy is bitter, but he's honest about it, anyway. Remember all that angst a few months ago about the "competition" between Nix and Thompson and Butterfield? We were silly, weren't we? I'd say the truth is that Nix has always been good, just not on good teams and always burdened by his assigned role as the savior of Auburn football. -
Is Lanning’s New Game-Plan…Chip Kelly 2.0?

I know the future is bright, but I ask myself if right now - this season - is a time we'll look back on and think, "Oh yeah, that was pretty great". Bo Nix is playing superbly. Next year's QB will be...someone playing not nearly as well. This OL is beyond good. Next year's OL will be...not nearly this good. Yes, Ducks will still have have Kenny Dillingham, outstanding receivers, and a up-and-coming defense. But, I think it may be a couple of years - if then, who knows - before we see the likes of this team again. Dillingham's brilliant design and play calling is working in a large part because of the talent and performance of Nix and the OL. Without them, I'm not sure it's the same happy deal we're seeing now. Dillingham is brilliant, but the players have to able to execute his play. I guess what I'm saying is enjoy what's happening now for all it's worth. It's pretty cool. And, it doesn't happen that often, does it?

LA Times Columnist: Pac-12, Big 12 Punishing USC, Texas?
jrw replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Of course, in the USC-verse, losing is always somebody else's fault.
